I was out of town for work and was craving some sort of asian cuisine. Lotus Room happened to be right around the corner from my hotel and had decent reviews. They are carry outs only, which was perfect for me. I called in an order of their Drunken noodles with beef and a hot and sour soup. It only took 10 minutes or so for the order to be ready. When I got to the restaurant it was very clean and well decorated. The lady behind the counter was very friendly and hooked me up with paper plates and silverware. The drunken noodles were great, it was savory and a hint of spice. The beef was tender and there were tons of veggies. I really enjoyed my dinner. Can't say it was the best drunken noodles I have ever had, but a surprisingly good choice. Give Lotus Room a try. Help support a long time business. read more

Colorless shrimp fried rice that is mushy and flavorless, general tso that is fried in dirty grease that has an after taste, pot stickers are hard as hockey pucks. I've been wanting to try The Lotus Room since I heard it was like Empress (RIP) Well, they don't offer lunch specials anymore- on their takeout menu they're still there but with a big X out stating "no lunch specials" Their meals only come with white rice & they won't allow you to upgrade to fried for a fee. So only white rice and no egg roll with dinners. I went here in search of a copycat of Empress' sweet & sour chicken with the plain white egg fried rice. After having to buy the egg fried rice at $8 (literally white rice with egg bits in it) and my dinner at $12... This $20 meal was good, yes. But the price? This is out of control. I cannot fathom why they wouldn't let me upgrade to fried rice. Without their lunch specials, this places prices are ridiculous. A Chinese dinner plate at any other takeout place would easily feed 2. There wasn't enough chicken in this box to barely feed me. Disappointed in their prices and portion sizes. Even if they can't sustain a lunch special at the old Price listed on their menu- they should still be offering a lunch & dinner combo at a decent price. read more

My review went on an overall cost of food and quality of food. If the food was worth the cost they maybe ranked higher. But as far as the food they serve I would place it in the middle of the road with a higher than average cost. For similar food style in the area. Would I eat it again maybe if that was the only option cause I know a few other locations that offer a higher quality of food for the same or lower cost. read more

The drunken noodle was exploding with flavor and texture and the sizzling rice soup was exceptional, the lady on the phone was very nice and handled the order fast. It was a small restaurant with the seats up on the table (takeout only) . The only complaint I would have is the price is a tad too much for me but nothing too much at all for most people read more

Checked in here earlier today and said that the place was not family/kid friendly. I spoke to soon. We happen to come in during the rush and the waitress forgot to offer the high chairs was all. The food and flavor were all 5* and I would highly recommend everyone to try this place out more than once. Beyond the fact that there were not many options for our kiddos... the food, ambience, and staff were a huge hit! MUST TRY AND HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PLACE When making a decision please do yourselves a favor and get a soup and appetizer (you'll thank yourself later) because there are quite a few options that you just can't get all in one visit (unless you're stacked or have a large party with you). Going back to flavor once again this place has AWARDS for their SOUP, gourmet dining, and one other thing that I can't remember but they definitely live up to the hype and expectations. Maybe it's not fair to rate a restaurant based on a few dishes. But I've had better fried rice & soup at smaller take-out kitchens. The house fried rice, as well as the won ton soup, lacked color, as well as any flavor or what you'd expect from traditional Chinese food. Adding soy sauce couldn't even help these dishes. How are they even selling this stuff? Whoever is in the kitchen needs to visit San Francisco. Finally got around to trying Lotus Room, after hearing so many things about it. First impression - the interior could have a little more character, but it is spotlessly clean. And we were welcomed by a very welcoming, energetic waitress. We started with the Lettuce Wraps. Then moved on to General Chicken, Mongolian Beef, and Chicken Fried Rice. I have had other places in town I consider tasty Chinese, but this place blows it all away. It is approached as a real restaurant, striving to provide great fresh ingredients - and they succeed. The Lettuce Wraps were very good, I had them once before at the chain restaurant "Changs" but these we much better. The General Chicken was obviously fresh and lightly breaded, came out piping hot - and the sauce was very flavorful. Finally, I loved the Mongolian Beef. I have alway liked the Mongolian Beef at Empress of China, but this was just more fresh, and the flavors spot on. I really can't wait to go back! read more

Great Chinese. Currently take out only. I really liked the Hot and Sour soup. Mongolian Beef has great flavor and a little crunch from fried rice noodles. Kung Pao is labeled as hot, but isn't very spicy if you don't eat the whole red chilies. Beef, Chicken, Shrimp are only proteins I saw on menu, plus one tofu dish. Friendly service. Meh, subpar. It appeared to be a lot, but it turned out the beef was put on top of a ton of rice noodles to seem like a lot. In addition, the beef was not stir fried but looked like it was coated in flour and then deep fried. There was also none of the sweet Mongolian sauce I was expecting. Went here for dinner and had horrible service. We've been going to the Lotus Room for years and are loyal customers. However, this will change due to the service we received today. We were seated and weren't provided with menus. We had to walk up to the counter to grab them ourselves. Once we were seated we waited 20 minutes and still no server came to our table. I had to flag her down and once she came over she replied that she was "coming". She had a terrible attitude. I explained to her that we were disappointed that others that came in after us had their order taken before us. She was incredibly rude and unapologetic. The hostess also had a very poor attitude. So I'm giving 5 stars because the food is always amazing. But I'm really writing this review to say that our server was awesome and was handling an entire dining room FULL of people ALONE. I find it odd that the other girl who was basically just doing carry out and then standing up by the register with her thumb up her A** just kind of sat there and watched and kept rolling her eyes. Super rude and super lazy. How about getting someone in there that will actually help out and be a team player instead of what looked like an entitled little snot who didn't want to pull her weight and let her coworker sink and run around like a mad woman. Like other reviewers, we were looking for a good Chinese restaurant that wasn't a buffet. After reading the reviews of the Lotus Room, we decided to try it and are so glad we did! It's set in a strip mall and hard to see from the road, but make the effort to find it. The restaurant's decor and menu are as simple as they come, but the food and service are outstanding. The wait staff is friendly without overdoing it and brought drinks immediately. I ordered the Hot and Sour soup and it came without wait. (a little more "sour" than I'm used to, but it could be an acquired taste.) My companion order the General Tao's chicken and said he has never tasted better. The chicken was fresh and moist and the batter was superior to anything we've ever tasted in that dish. I ordered the Tou Fu Vegetables and it was amazing! Fresh vegetables, lightly sauteed in a brown sauce with plenty of tofu. I had enough left over for lunch another day and when I asked the served for a box to take the leftovers home, she asked if I wanted to take additional rice home to have a complete lunch! That was a first for me. One other thing to note--the prices are extremely reasonable. Dinner for two, including the soup and tea was around $25.00. We're already planning our next trip back here and plan to make it a regular takeout spot as well. Make the effort to find this place--you won't be disappointed here. read more

Pretty good! It would get 5/5 stars if my husband had liked his food and if the chicken was a little better. I got the yin yang chicken. Soooooooo amazing. Kind of reminded me of a garlicky mix of general Tso's and sweet and sour chicken. I always order General Tso's when I get Chinese, but I took a chance on this and was not disappointed. I'm really picky about chicken and texture. This chicken was okay. I couldn't tell if it was white or dark meat. Some pieces were a little overcooked, but there were none of those weird pieces that you have to spit out that I find are pretty common in Chinese food. I was a little disappointed that there is no upgrading from steamed rice to fried rice. I had to order an entire order of fried rice on top of my steamed rice. Egg roll was pretty good. Not the best I've ever had. But their sweet and sour and hot mustard dips it came with were delicious. My husband ordered Kung Pao chicken. It looked disgusting to be honest and he couldn't eat much of it. The chicken was all dark meat and looked scary! We didn't send it back or anything. He just shared mine.
