Fairfield might not necessarily be the most desirable place to go for work, but when we find a Thai spot as delicious, consistent & reliable as Kumruenthai, Fairfield quickly becomes a place we are growing to miss! A great buddy and I have been here 5 or 6 times over the last couple of months and can't say enough good things! The food is amazing, but more importantly: the experience! Our first time here, we described it to our wives as "kinda like going to grandma's house, you might get scolded but the food will be great." We started to call her "Grandma Thai" and later came to call her Grandma Nat, since that's her name. She CARES! She wants you to enjoy the food, as it is intended to be eaten. New local Thai food restaurant in Fairfield. I've heard good things about this place so I thought I would check it out. I arrived here on a Tuesday night - one other couple here. " Nat," greeted me. I sat down and she gave me a menu, which I looked over and decided to get the, " Seafood Green Curry," in a Clay Pot, also decided to eat here instead of take out. Nat was extremely helpful with the food selection, spices, and just sharing with me her knowledge and wisdom of the Thai food. Food arrived - presentation was nice, the dish was very good, along with rice, tea and water. She also has a vegetarian menu. Nat opened here in Fairfield - June of this year 2019 coming from SF - her owning a restaurant there. Ambience - lite music playing in the back ground, tv on but not loud at all, very peaceful. This is one of the few places I get to rate the service and food as both equally terrible. Food: We were craving noodles so I ordered the Pad-Se-Ew and my husband ordered the Drunken Noodles. Both of our plates had what looked like crumbs of noodles that came from the bottom of a dried noodle package. No joke, our noodles were literally in pieces that were 1/2 inch long. Each of our plates were not stir fried. They were mixed together like a salad. Each of our sauces were bland in flavor. For my Pad-Se-Ew, half of the sauce on one side of my plate was gunky from the cornstarch thickener, while the other side of my plate was watery in texture. My broccoli was also raw. I love broccoli with a bite in stir fry dishes, but this definitely skipped the pan. Service: When we ordered our plates, the owner tried to hard-sell us on every item on the appetizer menu imaginable. She was questioning and critical of why I left some of my (terrible food) on the plate. She was also super pushy and would not take no on the dinner candy. The first word that comes to mind is AUTHENTIC. My family and I frequent quite a few Thai restaurants and while good, I felt like they were all the same. I didn't have any high hopes and expectations from this restaurant since Thai food is always good but I was blown away by how the dishes were prepared and the flavors tasted authentic and homemade from someone in Thailand. Customer service is great, they make you feel like family and recommend great things not just bc it's on their menu. You have GOT to try their special homemade Thai chili/fish sauce I could eat and dip my vegetables in that all day. The only misfortune is that their restaurant is kind of hidden but hopefully through word of mouth they will be booming-actually that means a longer wait so maybe I won't want that(jk). Excited about a new thai place in this area, my family came in for a late lunch. Walking in, the ambiance is nice and everything looked orderly and clean but AC wasn't working this day. We were the only customers when we were seated. After being given menus, we were soon forgotten about as our server resumed her lunch break. After intense eye contact we finally ordered five dishes: pad thai, crispy egg rolls, thai fried rice, fish cakes and chicken noodle soup. It took about 20 minutes for the first plate to come out, and an additional 10 minutes for every plate to make it onto our table. Immediately we noticed the portions are much smaller than most Thai spots. The pad thai was too sweet for my taste. Both the fried rice and rice cakes were on the drier side and could use more seasoning. The egg rolls were about the length and circumference of my pointer finger (kind of like the frozen grocery store types). Underwhelming would be the word to describe this experience. read more

First of all, I'm very picky about Thai food. Not like I'm an expert or anything but being an avid fan of Thai food for over 20 years, I like to consider myself a bit of an expert. We were in Fairfield to pick something up from OfferUp and since it was going to be another 30 minutes to go home, we figured let's find a spot for takeout. Admittedly, I didn't want to commit to ordering from a menu off of Google without seeing the restaurant itself before hand. When we found the place, I went inside and was greeted by a very cute elderly lady who was feisty in character and very helpful in helping me choose what I wanted. It's not like I didn't know what I wanted to eat, however some Thai places make certain dishes differently, so I wanted to confirm what I was ordering before actually committing to it. After receiving some clarifications about some dishes, I solidified my order of two orders of spicy chicken wings, one mild and one medium, spicy eggplant, Pad Thai, and roti with a dipping sauce. The roti in that restaurant was typically served as a dessert but after going through some explanation, She help me choose the best curry for a dipping sauce, which was the yellow curry dipping sauce. I say this because I felt that her customer service was epic knowing that she knew what I wanted and helped me decide and modify. We waited for a good 20-30 minutes in the car before the lady brought our order. She explained what was where in the plastic bag so that the sauce wouldn't spill. How helpful was she! We waited until we got home before we dug in to our orders and I must say that the five star yelp review that this place received was well deserved. I was impressed with all of the dishes that we had especially the spicy chicken wings. I was pleasantly surprised that Fairfield had a legit authentic Thai spot. Winner! read more

If you can't make Som Tum Lao, just say so. I should have said Thum Mak Hoong. Don't confuse the Thai style noodle for Kuaytiaw Reua (boat noodle). Overall, I gave three stars because the food is enjoyable to eat but nothing about it makes it stand out from other Thai/Laotian places. read more

Great local spot, in what appears to be a mom-and-pop shop, to order delicious Thai food. The flavor profile is on-point for the 3 dishes that I ordered. The beef in the beef salad was super tender. I can only imagine how much they tenderized the meat. The tom kha soup was hearty and the soup was thicker than usual. A bowl of rice would've complimented the soup quite well. This is our first time here, and we gave it a try, but when we went in there and checked in for 4, we had 1 toddler and a baby. The table that she offered us had some things in it, so she removed it and she cleaned the table with bare hands (like she just wipe the table with her hands!!) she didn't use any towel or something. Then, so, we asked for a high chair, she told us they only had 1 high chair, and that's okay. The one who is in the cashier was the server, after sitting for 3 minutes she asked us if we're ready to order food. She didn't even offer us a drink or wait for awhile because we were still deciding. It's like she's in a hurry. When we were ready to order, we were asking about a duck if the duck is half or whole, she stated, "for that price it's going to be a whole duck???!! You want us to cook whole and put it a pot??" So we asked, is it going to be a half or how many person is it good for, she said "whole duck is very expensive! That will not do that price!" After that, I'm done! She is very very rude, we were just asking nicely. I don't recommend this place, looking at their kitchen is not clean too. It's a good thing maybe that we didn't eat in here. I'm very picky when it comes to my pad thai. I've had some phenomenal pad thai with the perfect amount of tangy-ness, and flavor. I ordered Kumruenthai's pad thai, and I'm not disappointed or overly satisfied. It's more of like a "okay" taste. It has a slight tangy-ness to it, but it's not the exact flavor I'm looking for. It's still good, and I'll still enjoy it. Their thai tea is hard to mess up. But, I hope to try more food from this restaurant to maybe change my mind! read more

Wasn't expected a fine tasty Thai restaurant in this part of town. I was recommended with some soup noodle which were printed in the back of an A4 paper. This sweet and spicy noodle taste very close to something you would actually get in Bangkok. Given how sweet it was, I think it is more of northern Thai taste, Cambodia. Fantastic, only down side was the size was way too small for even me small eater, I was still hungry when I left and it was like $15 gone. read more
