This is another favorite soup of mines. If you enjoy clear broth. Very comforting, and my absolute favorite. Papaya Salad Lao style- I really appreciate that the owner takes their time to hand chop the papaya (the traditional way) instead of shredding it. Its nice and crunchy. Was looking for a Thai place while in a nearby city and found this resto while browsing through Yelp. I came at a time when I was the only customer inside since it was early. Food is good. Service is great. Server was attentive, observant, and was kind enough to show me how he made Vietnamese coffee when I was curious how it was done. He was also accommodating when he offered to have my food adjusted in the kitchen when it was not spicy enough for me. He also asked if I needed another plate, which I politely refused, when he saw me slicing all of my food into smaller pieces first before eating them. The place is festively decorated, one could see a variety and abundance of Asian decor. It has a down-to-earth yet very warm and welcoming vibe. Sorry for the lack of photos with this review - I ordered while in a feverish stupor last night and honestly couldn't think straight enough to document the meal. I went with their Seafood Drunken Noodles (mild spice) and Thai Tea through DoorDash. First, the positives: the flavors were genuinely excellent. The noodles had that perfect balance of basil, garlic and mild heat that makes drunken noodles so satisfying. The seafood included three substantial pieces of fish, one lonely shrimp, and plenty of squid pieces (about 2 inches each, cut to match the noodle width). The spice level was spot-on for "mild" - enough heat to notice without overwhelming. And the Thai tea? Absolute perfection - 10/10, could not be improved. Now for the disappointing part: the portion size for $26 was genuinely underwhelming. The container was tiny - think meal prep size, maybe 5×7 at most, with about a quarter dedicated to a small side salad/vegetables. The taste was there, but I definitely felt a bit robbed on value. That said, I'm realistic about today's economy. Food costs are skyrocketing, and small businesses are getting squeezed from every angle. My takeaway lesson: eat AT THE RESTAURANT rather than ordering delivery. You'll not only get a better sense of portion sizes, but you'll experience the full vibe of the place and build a relationship with a local business. This Thai Lao combo restaurant offers the usual Thai menu and Lao dish that I'm unfamiliar with. We started with the fresh spring roll appetizer, which came with our entrees. Then the pumpkin/eggplant entree but wasn't pumpkin, was squash. The chicken was scarce, barely enough for two people to have three each bite size pieces. Since we weren't familiar with Lao cuisine, I asked the server for a Lao noodle dish. He pointed to the menu on the wall and suggested tom koa poon, which tastes like a papaya salad with thin rice noodles. I expected a stir-fry noodle dish, so I learned for future to ask for more details. After this party of six left, we were the only ones in the restaurant for a while. I observed two or three to-go orders during our dinner. There was only one server who bussed tables and also handled the cash register. It's surprising they sell Cafe de Monde coffee. We started with the chicken satay, paired with an amazing peanut sauce. This was my favorite! The chicken tasted great and the peanut sauce is amazing! For the mains, we went with the chicken pad kee mao and beef sweet Thai basil. The pad kee mao is a little on the sweeter side but still really tasty, and the beef basil was flavorful with a little spice, lived this dish as well. I am always looking for Lao and or Lao Thai restaurants. I am always curious to see what traditional dishes are available on the menu. While in Vacaville I discovered Bhan Thai Lao Kitchen, a little ways from the shopping center but easy to find and plenty of parking. The restaurant was decorated with traditional Thai and Lao items, which I thought was cute and has that authentic feel. We started with the chicken satay as an appetizer and for our mains we chose the chicken pad kee mao and beef sweet Thai basil. I was torn between the drunken noodles and the pad kee mao. I was warned that the pad kee mao is on the sweeter side and yes indeed it was. Savory and sweet. The beef sweet Thai basil had lots of flavor and a tad spicy. MAR2024 Ordered food for pickup. Everything was done quickly. The restaurant is in a small shopping area so there weren't any issues finding parking and the such. I had ordered the veggie soup with tofu, Beverly Thai mixed vegetables, and the cucumber salad. The mixed vegetables were cooked well, but the sauce didn't really pop for me. It had good flavor but wasn't cooked throughout the dish. The veggie soup also a little plain, but the broth tasted really clean. I was dealing with a cold at the time so this help tremendously. My favorite though was the cucumber salad. I really liked the sauce with peanuts in it. It made for a nice contrast and difference in texture in the bites. read more

There is a decent amount of seating with some nice Thai decor. Food: 1. Gra Prow with Beef lunch special (medium spicy): good flavor, but slightly sweet. They use ground beef instead of sliced beef and I didn't not taste any basil that is usually in this dish. I got it medium spicy, but I didn't find it spicy at all. 2. Pad Thai: good flavor, but my wife thought it was a little too sweet. Both dishes were decent overall and were enhanced with some of the chili sauces they provided. The food was really good. The ones that were 3/5 in heat had my mouth on fire! The mild dishes were just right. For someone who usually likes my food spicy, I was surprised at how intense the spice was. I will admit my tolerance on spice has gone down as I've aged. Finding a spot like Bahn Thai Lao Kitchen in Vacaville feels like stumbling across a hidden gem. We ordered the Lemon Chicken, Tom Kha with Shrimp, and Panang Beef Curry, and honestly, it was some of the most authentic flavors I've had outside of the Bay Area. I'm not trying to wake up one day and find out they've turned the Panang Curry into a tomato bisque or that the Tom Kha's tang has been smoothed out for "approachability." I've been craving Thai ever since moving from San Diego, and I think I finally found a place to cure my craving. Walking in, the place was decorated and Thai music was playing. Service was quick and efficient. The boat noodle and pad Thai are very good, and so the papaya salad (mild) was fire (in both sense). The boat noodle was ordered with medium spice level, but it wasn't spicy at all for me. The papaya salad was ordered mild, and it had a kick. The Panang curry was good, but I've definitely had better. This place is bigger than we initially thought with very high ceilings. We were warmly welcomed to our table and the service was attentive throughout our time there. My fiance found this place on Yelp and told me this is a new restaurant. We walked in and had lower expectations since the Thai food around this part is not to our liking. We ordered 3 different dishes and started eating. My fiance ate the boat noodles and said "This is the best boat noodles soup I've had." I have tried many Thai food places in the area and this is by far my favorite place when craving Thai food! When you walk in, you immediately feel the Thai/Lao ambiance, they even had a foodie video on their TV of a foodie YouTube person trying foods around Thailand and Lao. I don't typically order lemon chicken all the time from Asian food spots (I usually go for sesame chicken dish), but this place makes lemon chicken so good! Like the lemon chicken is so good that it's actually a chef's special here so of course I had to give it a shot! The chicken was so crispy (almost like chicken katsu) and the lemon sauce to dip the chicken in was a perfect texture and just the right amount of lemon! The papaya salad was a bit spicy for my tasting but that's only because my husband ordered it in medium so it was perfect for him since he likes spicy foods and he loved it! As for the chicken satay appetizer, the peanut sauce that goes with it was perfect and the chicken was the typical chicken when ordered chicken satay at Asian food places! I even used the peanut sauce as another dip for some of my chicken from my lemon chicken fried rice and it was delicious. Lastly, I've always been a big fan of Thai tea so when I saw this place had a Thai green tea, I was shook because I didn't know Thai tea could be green so of course I had to try it. And of course, it did not disappoint! It was the perfect drink to go with my lemon chicken fried rice and my husband's papaya salad.
