This place is so unprofessional. Ordered from them at 6:00pm, nothing showed up by 7:30 so I called them. They said they had tried to deliver and I didn't answer. There were 3 people home and not a single person heard the buzzer. They then said they would send out a new order....8:30 roles around and I call them again. They inform me that they have cancelled my order. Not once was there a knock on the door or a buzzer rang (can be heard throughout the ENTIRE apartment builder). Horrible delivery service! Placed order on Foodler 6:45, estimated arrival 7:30- fine. At 7:50 I call for an ETA- she says "he's on the way." I call again at 8:20, she says she'll check and call me back. Let me mention that I am very pregnant, very hungry, and getting very cranky. She never calls back, so I call back at 8:45 and say I assume he's not coming- she says again she'll check and call back. He does finally come at 9pm, and the food was fine, but absolutely not worth the aggravation. read more

This place is not a must visit, but if you're in the mood for Thai, it will certainly satisfy your needs. We ordered the Massaman Curry and Pad Thai to go. The curry was full of colorful veggies that were delicious, but the sauce left something to be desired. The Pad Thai was very typical...nothing out of the ordinary in either a good or bad way. It had minimal chicken or shrimp, but the noodles were great. Can't comment on the ambiance other than to say that I probably wouldn't choose to sit down and eat here on a first date. Allstonites are lucky to have two great Thai places within two blocks of each other. This is a little more expensive than S&I, but still very cheap. The Squid Disco is maybe the best meal you can get on the planet for less than 10 bucks. read more

The name might be funny, but the food is what makes Thai Place my favorite Thai place. Everything I've had has been good- I especially recommend the drunken noodle and the Thai Place platter. I couldn't figure out how to give zero stars. This is the third time we've ordered from here. The first was good. The food came promptly and at an appropriate temperature. The last time we ordered, it was cold and we calked it up to a bad night. Tonight, we ordered and everything was cold. In addition, the tempura shrimp was a few breaded shrimp with tempura vegetables (all cold). The beef and chicken satay were both dry and cold. I feel like these people stole money from us. Great Thai food in Allston/Brighton area -- delivery fee sucks, but the food is good, so I suck it up.

I was skeptical of this place on delivery. But I called on a whim, and spoke to the order taker, who was actually hilarious, and joked back and forth with him a little ,and placed my order. He said becaue I was "cool" he was going to give me a free dessert. I never thought he actually would, but HE DID! Not only was the service great, the food was probably the best thai food i've ever had. Got my food VERY quickly, enjoyed every bite, ANNDDD got my free desert. 5 stars all around. great place. I would like to give them zero stars, but the food is so good I have to give them at least 2. I have lived in Allston for 2 years and have ordered from the Thai Place regularly. Their food is excellent especially considering the price and they have great vegetarian options. If I were to have written this review 2 months ago they would have received 5 stars, but something is going on lately. I live about 2 blocks away and have eaten in the restaurant as well as getting take out and delivery. Last night (Wednesday) I felt like staying in so I ordered delivery through Foodler. I placed the order at 6:57pm. The estimated delivery time on Foodler was 7:35pm. I understand that this is an "estimated" time and I think of myself as a pretty patient and understanding person. I never send food back at a restaurant and I don't call delivery places incessantly if I haven't received my order in the "estimated" time. Last night however, around 8:30 I started wondering where my food was. I ordered from them last week and it took about an hour for our food to come, but I believe that was on a Friday night so that is a little more understandable. I gave them a call and before I even finished my question the woman on the phone interrupted with, "The delivery guy is on his way." No explanation as to why it has been an hour and a half and our food is not here nor an apology for the slow service. I hang up thinking he should be there is 10, 15 minutes max considering we live so close. The food did not arrive until 9pm. It was of course lukewarm (lukewarm vegetable tempura is not so tasty). The delivery guy must have driven by our house gone all over the Allston/Brighton/JP area and stopped by our place on the way back to the restaurant. In addition to being cold the Pad Thai (which I normally love!) had almost no flavor and was basically plain noddles. I was so disappointed and the worst part is they charge a $2 delivery fee for Allston and I had already tipped him on my credit card. That's the last time I make that mistake! Clearly it wasn't my night because the Netflix disk I received was also scratched and unplayable! I'm going to give them one more try and order over the phone, but if they fail again I will be shopping around for a new Thai take out/delivery place. I'm sure the food won't be as good and it won't be such a deal but at least the food will arrive in a reasonable time and it will be warm. read more

I can't speak to the quality of the food because I never ordered from there, but I was with my roommate when she ordered their food and they screwed her over on delivery. She was given inconsistent prices by two different people on the phone, and when the delivery person arrived they charged her around $5 more than either of the prices they told her on the phone. At this point the meal was around $7 or $8 more than it was on the menu, and she was supposed to get free delivery.... laame read more

Thai Place is a consistently solid option for Thai delivery. The portions are huge, the food arrives hot, and everything is tasty. They did screw up my order once - I got pineapple fried rice instead of mango - but it wasn't a huge deal. Their Pad Thai is yummy every time and I really like their scallion pancake. Had an incredible feast there this Sunday. The staff was super friendly and informative when we asked about the different dishes. As for the food quality, I say it's tops. Aces even. As for authenticity, well, I ain't no thai national, but my friend is, and she said it is just like home. ordered at about 8:35 on a friday night, food arrived within 30 minutes! pretty good until I found out why.... It seemed as though all their food had been cooked long ago, and they just threw it in a take out box and delivered it. I ordered a chicken dish, and the chicken looked weeks, if not months old. It was brown, gummy, rubbery, and clearly cooked many days before hand. Cut apart a piece, and was so distugted with the dark color and lack of any chicken like texture that I tossed it in the trash. My friend ordered the vegetarian appetizer special, and found the scallion pancakes soggy, the spring rolls inedible, and a fried vegetable looking thing she wasn't daring enough to eat. I also ordered a crab rangoon, and it was the worst THE WORST rangoon I have ever had. (In my opinion a good rangoon has a small amount of quality crab meat, a little cream cheese filling to go along with it, and a nice large envelope of fried dough around it) What I received was a tray of soggy lumps the size and shape of a small fist. They had about a 30:1 "crab"-and-cheese to dough ratio. WAY too much filling, and the reason they didn't skimp on what should be the most costly part of the dish.... big surprise, its crappy fake fish imitation crab meat!
