This was my first time here at ThaiRiffic. I got a parking spot just across the street at about 2PM on a Monday. There was no wait and we were immediately seated. We started out with sharing a bowl of Chicken Pho which was very good. Everything was fresh. The lunch menu had "box" specials. I got the fried chicken box and my friend got the Thai box. The "box" were partitioned trays. I wish the restaurant had two different sizes of pho bowls. We tried to split the pho into smaller bowls ourselves. Best if you just order you own one individual bowl per person. I will definitely be going back. The bill came to about $50. read more

A little hidden gem. I loved the lemongrass beef and rice dish. Not only was the food satisfying but the aromas and presentation added another layer of happiness. The service was spot on and attentive. For a Friday afternoon I thought there would be more people but it was early and most were probably stuck in traffic. I did notice a lot of uber drivers coming in and out for takeout rather than customers entering to dine inside. The inside appeared to be clean and well organized. ThaiRiffic by the Sea is a Thai restaurant located by the waterfront of Swampscott. With this, street parking is very scarce. Also located adjacent to a pizzeria and ice cream shop makes it even harder to find parking with some parking spaces limited to 15 minutes only. Once inside, you are transported to a romantic oasis where dimly lit crystal chandeliers dropped from the ceiling and a flowering branch served as a backdrop. Many orchids blooms decorated the interior. This definitely is a date night location. I would say the menu price is slightly higher than most Takeout as well as dine-in Thai restaurants. Some dishes we tried were the grilled shrimp papaya salad and the steak salad. Both were spicy with the papaya salad being the spiciest. Plenty of fish sauce and plenty of Thai chili. For entree, we ordered the chicken pad Thai, the crab fried rice, and the soft shell crab curry with sliced avocado and mango. All were delicious and I would order them again. All dishes were sharable. The service was excellent. We were checked in on several times and by the entire wait staff. Food came at a steady pace. Overall, highly recommend dining in. Just so so Thai food with meager portions. I went once and need to try once more, but it wasn't promising. Ambiance is fine.

Overall the restaurant is okay for those looking for Thai cuisine. Starting with cons I had ordered were the crispy wings and fried calamari. I ended being served wing dings and a batter of fried pickles with little calamari that did not taste fresh at all. The Pro to my experience was the crab fried rice and addition added shrimp to the dish. That was delicious but wish they had hot chilli oil to give it an extra kick to enjoy the food. read more

Great ambience. Welcoming service with a smile. Food tastefully served. Flavors were a bit bland for my palate , but my companions enjoyed it. The only complaint was that the chicken served to me was chewy, rubbery and unpalatable . Don't know if it was overcooked or undercooked. The veggies accompanying it were great. The brown and white rice duo was tastefully presented. I hope the rubbery chicken was a one off. I would try them again. read more

Takeout from this location is a hit or a miss! We've tried it 4 times now, and have been satisfied with our orders 50% of the time. Tonight, we ordered crispy chicken basil, Thai fried rice with crispy chicken, and garlic lover with beef. The crispy chicken basil had good flavor! The Thai fried rice was oily and lacked flavor. There were hardly any vegetables in the mountain of rice. Additionally, the garlic beef was dry and did not have any trace of a coconut sauce, as advertised. After spending close to $100, it was definitely not worth it. The eat-in photos look much nicer, but for takeout, I'd consider other local establishments. read more

My wife and I use to go to the place that was there before and loved it( Which we still order from now it's called Fantasy Island. I live close by so when Thairiffic by the sea open up we decided to try it , but only for pick up since it was a bit more pricey and we loved it. My wife usually orders Teriyaki Salmon $30 and I get the seafood Pha Thai $22 which use to be my favorite after todays experience. The first thing I noticed when I opened my plate, was a strong fish smell( not pleasant )which thought hmmm that's unusual, this one smell really strong today. I was trying to stay positive and eat my plate since I was hungry. I started to eat and as soon I got a bite of the scallop I knew the texture fell off and knew that it was over cooked it was really hard to chew. This was the second wrong thing with this plate. When I came across the second scallop I couldn't even eat it. It was so hard obviously way over cooked or old not sure had a weird texture not pleasant like a scallop should be. The third thing wrong with this plate was the undercooked calamari. At first I just thought this could have been cooked a bit more, but then I got to a piece that was so hard and chewy I had to spit it out. At this point I'm trying to see if there is anything good on this plate I was hungry. But I was already feeling like I should take this back. Then when I took a bite of the second muscle that's when I knew that was the fishy smell I came across when I opened the plate , it really tasted bad. Second thing I had to spit out. Now at this point I am angry that I paid $53.39 for this food that I could even eat. I called to let them know I was not happy with the food and was bringing back for a refund and for them to see the food. I mentioned I was only bringing my plate back but did want them to know my wife salmon was a bit over cooked. This is what really motivated me to to this review. I know things happen and maybe they had a knew chef but I just wanted my money back and for them to know that it was unacceptable to have food come out of their kitchen like that but also for me to stay quite. When I arrived on the host asked me again what was wrong I told him then he turns around takes two steps to talk to a lady standing by kitchen door who was the manager since after talking to her he looks back at me then says I spoke to my manager and she said she will give only half of the money back of your plate or you get 50% off next order. At this point I didnt care I couldn't believe that manager was standing right there where I could see here but wouldn't talk to me only until I was walking out and yelled I'm sorry. I been ordering from them for the last two years and this was the customer service I received. I felt I was being looked like I was making this up. THE WEATHER WAS 25 degrees FREAKING COLD!!! I did not want to leave my house again to bring them back this plate, but they just can't get away with this and I cant't just stay shut. I'm done with this place!. read more

I want to start out by saying this place is beautiful! The decors is is so pretty and is relaxing to look at. The service was exceptional, friendly, and welcoming. As for the food, I got the hot basil with chicken and requested one modification (no onions) and asked them to add carrots instead. They were happy to oblige. For many years we went to Thai Thani in Swampscott for good Thai food and a warm, welcoming atmosphere created by Val and Goldie. We will always miss those lovely people. Until now we have not been able to locate a really high quality Thai restaurant in the Swampscott area. Now we have! Not only is it an excellent place to eat and to get take-out from, I discovered that I had a similarly named restaurant in my "contacts" file in Sydney, Australia. I pointed that out to the owner and he said, "Yes...I used to work there!" I first discovered Thai food in Thailand, of all places, in 1983. For a few years in the late 80s, I had a job that required me to travel throughout the Midwest. In every city I sought out a Thai restaurant, mostly to compare peanut sauces. They said they do soccer levels 1, 2, or 3, but said I could order it at 4 or 5. I ordered level 5 and it wasn't very spicy. It was still good, just not spicy enough. We'll still go back. read more

Very, very good. Everything we got was fresh and what I would hope for from good Thai food. My only "meh" was the spring rolls, which could have definitely been crispier/fresher. The massaman curry was delicious, and their rice was lovely. The crab rangoons were great. They have done an amazing job on the decor and it's definitely a lovely place to go now, as opposed to just being a takeout counter. The service was friendly. They have bento boxes on the lunch menu and I thought that was a brilliant idea, being so close to the beach. It would be easy to hop on over there, grab a box to bring back to the beach for a snack or lunch. Very smart. read more

Wanted to like this place, saw lots of positive reviews on FB. It was nicely decorated inside, and we were seated by the window at our request. We had kind of an inexperienced server who also did not understand English very well, so it was difficult to ask questions, make special requests (like no cilantro, etc). They do not serve beer or wine or liquor, which was also disappointing. We ordered chicken satay as an app, and asked for more time to order the rest, she came back to us twice more in 2 minutes to see if we were ready to order, kind of annoying. We finally did order crispy Thai spring rolls, chicken pad Thai, and Mongolian beef. The chicken satay was excellent, came with peanut sauce and another lighter sauce, very delicious. The crispy Thai spring rolls were quite ordinary, the filling was rather bland and just ok. When the main courses came out, there were two large plates of food with no serving utensils, and no dinner plates to serve the large dishes into. So basically we each ate out of what are normally serving dishes. The pad Thai was very nice, plenty of chicken and noodles, quite a large portion overall. The Mongolian beef was just ok, not as tender as I've had in other restaurants in the area. It seemed quite salty, and to top it off, it came with a side of white rice that had soy sauce poured over the top of it. I've had a lot of Asian food in my lifetime and have never seen that before. Sorry to say, we will not be back, too many other similar restaurants in the area to choose from. read more

We had dinner here for the second time since they opened, and it was even better than the first time. The food is delicious, everything is fresh and made to order.
