A great selection of modern with vintage. The owner Denis runs this place like a business and not just a hobby.

They're located on Hertel Ave, which is a nice shopping district and we visited on a weekday. When we entered, we were greeted by a friendly associate and felt welcome. We were browsing for a gift for a sweet two-year-old girl. There were so many options, but I was looking for something specific. This child has recently taken a liking to dinosaurs. Everything dino-related I saw was more appropriate for a slightly older child. So, I asked the associate for a recommendation. She was able to take me to an age-appropriate magnetic dino-build toy. It was absolutely perfect for my needs. The price wasn't noticeably low, but it seemed appropriate for the value of the item. After making my purchase, I was offered free gift wrapping. This was such a happy surprise. The result was so much nicer than anything I could have pulled off myself. Overall, I'd certainly pop in again. I was shopping last minute and was able to find the perfect gift. My experience was really nice!

I was skeptical that a little shop in North Tonawanda would even make the list but was very pleasantly surprised. The environment is welcoming, we were greeted as soon as we walked in. We perused the selection and got to talking about some different games with the guy working (who I'm assuming was an owner but I can't remember his name because I'm horrible with names). Even though they didn't have what we were looking for, we wound up getting the Uncanny X-Men Dice Masters game just from talking about it. He knew his shit but didn't make me feel dumb for not being familiar with everything before walking in the door. Also mentioned a couple board game events that take place there, which we definitely plan on checking out. Overall just a really great shop, I'm looking forward to going back again.

The owner, Matt, is incredibly helpful and a great guy. Back when I first started playing Magic I went to a few other stores until I finally ended up here and Matt took the time to analyze my deck and recommend improvements. (worth mentioning he was NEVER pushy for me to buy any of the cards he recommended) After my first experience here, I never went to another store again and never will even though there's a lot that are closer to me. Beginner at Magic? Go ask for some help putting together you're first ever deck, the staff is incredibly knowledgeable and is always happy to help out. Experienced Magic player? Definitely go to a game night here! Monday's are Casual Commander, Wednesday's are $5 entry Modern, and Friday nights for FNM are free entry Commander/Modern and it's always a huge turnout. For anyone who is interested in going to any of these, they're all at 6:30 PM. It's always a great time and the Dark Forest player base community is super friendly. Oh, and also worth mentioning that they also have an extensive amount of other games there! I know I got a little heavy on the MTG here.

Regular bookstores can be overwhelming for kids who may not know what to look for, but a sign saying "books for animal lovers" is sure to get some interest. There are also sections for "snuggle up and read picture books" and "I am ready for longer chapters and bigger ideas", for example. LOVE IT. The curated book selection has many inclusive books too, not something I see in most kids' collections. Although the majority of books here are kid-focused, I found a couple to add to my to-read list too. There is a small parking lot around the back of the building for easy parking.

There's a cute area in front of the big windows for reading. The book collection is wonderfully curated. I saw a lot of YA and middle grade titles in addition to children's books, including books I never saw before. Meg was very helpful and friendly, and she encouraged my son to branch out with the first Tristan Strong book. I wish my other son - another picky reader - came with us because I think he would have been happy to see the range of inclusive offerings.
