It is hard to review a restaurant that you do not care for the choices. I had never tried Lebanese food before. I now know that l do not like it. It's not that it is bad, but when there are many other choices in town that serve food that l do like, why pay a high price for food that is just unique. The staff was very friendly and engaging. This may be my favorite restaurant in Springfield. I love to bring my family here for their family special that has an amazing variety of appetizers and entrees. Even with 5 adults with hearty appetites we had enough left for me to have 2 meals from. The owner is very friendly. When he came to check on us he stayed and visited and answered all of our questions. The food I fantastic and my kids that have traveled said that the food was authentic. It is wonderful. My only complaint is that the service is not great. Waiter on last visit was not very attentive. Food arrived very slowly so it is not a place for a fast meal. But this is not a fast food restaurant. That Lebanese Place offers great food you won't find anywhere else in Springfield. I highly recommend the falafel, fattoush, and labneh. If it's your first time, get the mezza combo so you can try a few different things. I also really liked the mushakal sandwich. The service and location are both great. My one complaint is that I don't love the pita. It works well as a sandwich, but if you're dipping it in hummus or labneh, it's very thin and cold. Ive been here a few times. The first time I went was a busy Friday night and after sitting there for 45 mins with no food we were given our meals for free. It was worth the wait, the baba ganoush is delicious and I love the Lebanese nachos. Ive gone there a few times since and have found bthe customer service from the owner to be wonderful. We were really hoping for a great dining experience here baged on all the positive reviews. Here's the breakdown: Appetizers: The babaganoush had a lovely smokey flavor and a nice smooth texture. The hummus was standard. The tabouleh was very heavy on the parsley, but had a good flavor. The salad was dissapointing with wilted lettuce and an overpowering tahini. The falafel was also dissapointing with a doughy interior and somewhat muted/bland flavoring. Entree: Chicken kabob was delicious, however the rice it was served on really fell flat for me and just seemed like unimaginative filler. Dessert: Tried the specialty desset in a mini trifle dish. The top layer consisted of a bland cottage cheese like substance, which was really not that good. The bottom layer had a nice caramel rose water crust, but it could not save the dessert. I would skip this and get baklava next time. Overall, I love the concept of a Lebanese restaurant in Springfield, but it definitely could use some refinement. Exceptional dining experience. I visited this place with my parents. We had the family platter for dinner. It comes with 2 salads, Baba ganoush and Hummus. We were given kuboos( bread) to eat with these. Next came a huge plate filled with enough food to feed a village! It all tasted like a slice of heaven. The food is fresh and healthy. The Mediterranean diet is the best diet! This place gets their food right. The lady that helped us was very friendly. The chef came and explained what each items were and how to enjoy the food with the variety of sauces. Enough food to last me for another 2 meals and I do not feel guilty that I ate unhealthy. Even if the food were just mediocre, the family that owns this restaurant make coming here an absolute joy every time. My two favorite things are the baba ghanoush and Lebanese coffee. I am normally not a fan of eggplant, but I could drink a glass of it and still ask for seconds. The coffee is also worth trying for those who enjoy rich, strong, black coffee. It comes in a small pot, but its enough for a half dozen servings using the espresso cups. The prices really help push me to rating this place a 5-star. Being able to pay $5-6 per person at a sit down restaurant is nearly unheard of, but you can do it here. Just be aware that after you eat here once, it'll be hard spend that little the next time ;o) read more

I have been wanting to go to this restaurant for some sometime and I was not disappointed. I ordered the "That Lebanese Platter" and I chose the lamb kebabs; they were perfect. The stuffed grape leaves were excellent and the falafel was superb! I topped off my meal with the Lebanese coffee and baklava. I recommend this restaurant to everyone. The service was friendly. Best Lebanese I've eaten since my relatives from Lebanon cooked for me! This was our first meal as my father and I were visiting Springfield. Being Lebanese, we knew we needed to try this and it didn't disappoint! The inside decor was very causal and inviting. We started with appetizers of Labneh and a plate of grape leaves. The bowl of Tabouleh that came with Dad's meal was better than my mother's (don't tell her!) Fantastic! As we were eating, the owner came in and greeted his customers. He and my father got to talking and commiserating. For our meals I got the Shish Tawouk and Dad got the Lamb Kebab. Best Lebanese cuisine! Had the mezza combo with grape leaves, labneh, baba ghanouj, and hummus. Everything was delicious, especially the grape leaves and baba ghanouj! Can't wait to go back. So I have to edit my review. Went there again and the service was horrible! First they were out of the wine I ordered. Then when we tried to order our meal they informed us they were out of the grape leaves and all desserts. We decided on the falafel platter and batata harrah platter. We waited about 45 min for our dinner. The server never came by to update us or refill our drinks. I finally went up to the bar to ask about our order. He said it should be up soon and that the batata harrah was taking so long to make. This is where our student organization would always have our dinner events at the end of the semester. Its such a unique place to hang out at. The prices are amazing and the food is even better! The host always makes it a point to come over and say hello when we eat here. The food and ingredients are all so fresh. The only down side is that sometimes it can take a while to get your food. My daughter and I were very excited when That Lebanese Place opened a vendor cart, and we stopped, but they didn't take credit cards and our cash was minimal that day, so we watched with excitement as they opened a full restaurant. We enjoy Commercial street's eclecticness, so we were good with the location. We went and had a great meal, and enjoyed it very much...BUT...the 2nd time we went, I was served rotting gyro meat. I tasted it...yuk...my daughter tasted it ...yuk...so she shared her meal with me, and we let it sit. After chatting loudly with other customers he personally knew, the owner came over (wearing a headset?) and asked about the food. I politely and quietly said the gyro meat was off...(I didn't want to embarrass him in front of his friends...and he said I must not be used to eating gyro meat. Excuse me? It's only one of my favorite meals...had it gazillions of times. I said no...that wasn't it...it was old...He said he'd fix me something...and went to the back only to come forward with more rotting gyro meat covered in seasoning...he gave it to me and left...I tasted it to be polite...but yuk. Then he checked back with me...I said It still was off. He tossed his head and made a comment...."This type of food is just NOT FOR YOU!" OK. THEN. YOU ARE CORRECT. I PREFER FRESH GYRO MEAT. STOP BEING A CHEAPSKATE AND REPLACE IT IF IT'S TOO OLD. YOU GAVE ME FOODPOISONING. I WAS SICK ALL THAT NIGHT. But this type of food is perfect for me normally...I love middle eastern food. Have had friends in the business in Asheville who fed me amazing meals...and have personal friends who have fed me at their houses...so don't assume I don't know my gyro meat. read more

It appears my last review from August was removed, but I stand by it. I ordered several dishes to sample what this place had to offer, and was not moved. I have traveled to a lot of different places in the world, and have even been to Lebanon. I was happy to see someplace like this when I moved back to SW Missouri to take a new job. Sadly, this place did not deliver. The food was sub par, the wait staff was in attentive (with the exception of one waitress, whose name I can no longer remember), and the wait for my food was very excessive even for place that was busy. This place was not busy when I was there. I was not one bit impressed by this place. I was hoping for something resembling the food in the little places in Beirut I ate at, but I think calling the fare served here Lebanese is a bit of a stretch. Calling it good is a culinary fallacy. The kebabs look like they may have been worth a try, but i do not intend to give this place another shot nor will I recommend it to anybody. read more
