If I could give this business ZERO or negative stars I would as the experience that follows is completely sad, upsetting and disappointing. My wife contacted Alex and booked him for our September 2026 wedding. She booked the date over a year in advance (around August 2025) paying him close $2,000 as a deposit. In April of 2026, my wife and I found out that I had stage 4 cancer and would have to immediately undergo chemotherapy due to the aggressive form of cancer. We threw together a last minute wedding in a few weeks after diagnosis and had to cancel the September wedding due to me being knee deep in chemotherapy come September 2026. I would likely not be strong enough or healthy enough to have the wedding in September. My wife contacted all of the wedding vendors including the venue who all returned our deposits in full due to the unfortunate diagnosis of Stage 4 cancer. Everyone was completely understanding of our situation and were happy to help us out in returning money we had paid them in advance. My wife contacted DJ Alex and asked for the deposit back after explaining to him our circumstances. Alex contacted my wife and said she had signed a contract and that the deposit was non- refundable. Now, I will say that I agree she did sign a contract and I understand those contracts are meant for businesses to be taken care of financially in case of a last minute cancelation since their time is worth money - of course. My wife explained to Alex that I was going to be going through chemotherapy and was diagnosed with cancer 6 months in advance of the wedding date and that's the reason for the cancelation. Unfortunately, Alex refused to refund all or ANY of the deposit to my wife. I understand the contract was signed but to keep $2,000 when the reason for the cancelation is a righteous reason (Stage 4 cancer) and it was cancelled 6 months prior to the wedding, seemed absolutely and completely heartless. I wouldn't recommend this business one bit. We were upset and saddened by the decision Alex made to not refund any or all of the refund given the tragic circumstances. I'm all for businesses needing to get paid but this just seemed completely heartless and upsetting for my wife and I. read more

It was very easy to communicate the music vibe we were looking for through the app he uses, and on the day of the wedding he was flexible with song requests and changes throughout the night to keep the atmosphere exactly where we wanted it. I hired That's The DJ to DJ/MC my wedding in May 2025 in Hopland. TLDR: I am so glad that I went with them, I had the BEST experience with That's the DJ! They were reasonably priced, super communicative, friendly, offered bilingual services, prompt, professional and DJ Luis Alvarez had us dancing all night. I am not from the area originally, so I did not have any experience with DJ/entertainment companies in this area and found them on Yelp. After submitting an interest form through the website, Alex, the owner reached out quickly to set up an introductory phone appointment. I planned my wedding in less than 6 months so I was excited that they had availability and was also happy at the level of responsiveness from the company (since I really had no time to sit and wait on vendors to reply) On the intro call, Alex was friendly and took his time to answer all of my questions. He even offered insight into how my day may operate and how they work in conjunction with the other wedding vendors. At that point, I was the wedding planner, so I was grateful to any advice or information I could get. The booking process was smooth. I am someone who likes to do everything online, so I really loved their website and scheduling system as well as the timeline/music app they use. Once the contract was signed and the deposit paid, I was assigned a DJ, Luis Alvarez, who also reached out to me directly to establish a line of communication. I was given access to an app that had a customizable wedding timeline where you could add what song(s) you wanted to be played at that time (procession, recession, cake cutting, first dance, anything you could possibly think of). There were also places for notes, names (speakers, wedding party, officiant, etc). The app had the capability to allow guests to request songs before the wedding via a link, or on the other side of the spectrum, you could put that you did not want guests to be able to request at all. This app had EVERYTHING! They stayed in contact with me via email and I knew that if I needed anything, I could reach out. Just before the wedding, DJ Luis set up a final phone call to go through the entire timeline. The app does lock you out at a certain point, so make sure you pay attention to the date--there was one song my husband and I couldn't agree on, but Luis just added it for us after we were locked out. Day of the wedding, Luis showed up several hours early and worked with my day-of coordinator to set up the ceremony area, dining area and dancing area sound systems. I wasn't there for set up, obviously, but there were ZERO hiccups that I could perceive. During the wedding, some things ended up running longer than the song assigned and I couldn't even tell that he was looping the songs to make them last the perfect amount of time. The improv was amazing with Luis. I felt like he had a beat on everything, including how I was feeling at any given moment. At one point, there was a requested song that people were not feeling and I looked up from the dance floor and made a face and that song didn't last longer than 10 more seconds. He was so intuitive and made the best mixes with the RANDOM genres I gave him. I am not exaggerating when I say that I was on the dance floor for every single song from my first dance to the last. People who I have been to several weddings with that are not dancers were even out there dancing. Everyone had a blast and Luis had a big part in that. I am so grateful to Luis, Alex and the whole team at That's the DJ. I have nothing but great things to say about them and wholeheartedly recommend their services! read more

He did an incredible job, he went through all of our songs and made an incredible mix that went with the ebbs and flows of the evening. We used DJ David as our DJ for our wedding last weekend. Through the whole experience leading up to our wedding, David was the most professional, friendly, attentive and most importantly so helpful. He answered all of our questions without hesitation and he offered to have multiple phone calls with us, even when we had the silliest questions for him, he never judged and just helped us along the way. From the initial phone call with That's The DJ to our actual wedding, That's The DJ was so great to work with. Our DJ was Luis who was so personable and a great MC. We had him do trivia for table dismissals during dinner and he made it so fun. When it came to dancing, he kept the dance floor packed by reading the vibe of the room. He also was soo great with my nephew who kept going up to him and requesting songs haha. In addition to the DJ services, we also did the Photo Booth add on and it was a really big hit all night! We booked with That's The DJ for our wedding in November and we had a blast! Huge shoutout to DJ Luis Alvarez for saving the day!! We had a small mishap with our First Dance song, our mariachi was supposed to play the live version, but they weren't prepared and lucky for us Luis saved the day by having our song loaded in the queue ready to go! Luis was amazing to work with! He always had a positive attitude and was so kind, and was always super responsive and on top of things, especially in the days leading up to our wedding day. Another thing we really liked was that they have an app that makes coordinating your playlist/song choices with your event timeline so easy! He had us download an app where we can input our own music in sections such as ceremony, reception, and dancing which was incredibly helpful. He kept the party alive and really elevated the entire day from beginning to end.
