I am extremely disappointed with my experience at The 116 th Flowers- LOCATED IN EAST HARLEM.I visited the shop to purchase a bouquet for a funeral, and what should have been a respectful and supportive interaction turned into a very uncomfortable and upsetting situation. The clerk, Judy R., was inappropriate, dismissive, and unprofessional in the way she communicated. She went back and forth with me in a disrespectful tone while I was simply asking questions to make an informed purchase. I had to address her directly about how inappropriate her behavior and customer service were. Another employee ( female) was equally rude and dismissive. She was asked about the price of a specific reef that purchased 2 days pryor by my sister- in law. She the ( 2nd female employee) sold it for a price less than what was advertised. All i wanted was to purchase the reef at the good price that was sold 2 days prior. NO BEEF NO HASSLE- just a purchase. When a male staff member approached and asked what happened, I attempted to explain briefly, but he immediately cut in with "how can we help you?" in a way that felt dismissive rather than genuinely helpful. Despite the poor treatment, I still went through with the purchase and spent $175. However, no customer--especially someone shopping for a funeral--should be treated this way. This experience reflects a serious lack of professionalism and compassion across the staff. As an All my life member and Educator of my community, (SPANISH HARLEM-EL BARRIO, I cannot support a business where customers are treated with such disregard. I would not recommend The 116 Th Flowers based on this experience. read more

Recently used their service for a last minute flower arrangement. Time was of the essence, so I did the search for nearby flower shops on Yelp. I was very fortunate their location on the same block I needed the flowers to be delivered. After checking their Yelp profile and website, I called and spoke to their representative Ms. Lupe, she was very professional and understanding of my situation of my request. She was able to accept my last minute order and the price was very reasonable, no express markups. I place the order over the phone and received the confirmation receipt via email. Great service and great flowers! I was hesitant to contact them because the shop is located in East Harlem. I called them right before closing time and Jose was so very helpful. Given it was so close to closing, any other shop probably would have denied the request. But not them! They delivered beautiful roses in a vase that night!!! I was so happy and surprised by my boyfriend who sent roses to my job for my birthday. The issue is that they were already dying after less than 24 hours. I feel bad and don't want to say anything to my bf but I'm guessing that they didn't provide fresh roses to begin with. I received them Friday at around 2pm & by Saturday morning the petals were wilting & falling off. They didn't provide flower food, I changed the water thinking that would help but to no avail. He placed the order on 1800flowers & I guess this was the florist who fulfilled the order. Very disappointed.. I wish he could get a refund. I actually had a great experience with them. I order flowers here for my wedding this past Friday (Friday 13,2013). I ordered a bouquet for me, 2 for bridesmaids, 10+ corsages, 24 centerpieces and a Dais flower arrangement. I loved loved loved my bouquet!! GORGEOUS. Attached is a photo of it. The centerpieces were exactly what I wanted, color and everything. I loved their customer service and thought that they were generally very accommodating. Even the day of I had mis-calculated how many corsages I needed and they made it quickly for me on the spot. Very quick and organized. Even gave it to me on the house as it was a very large order. I did however find them to be pricey for exchanging flowers. ( This order would have been 2X as much at another shop a little further downtown and 5X as much in Midtown) I wanted peonies but changed my mind to roses for the bridesmaids and they insisted that it was the same difference. When prior they had explained the price was more because Peonies are expensive. I mean its not a HUGE deal but it was definitely a contradiction. One last thing was the fact that they had no samples of bouquets to show me, just pictures in a book. Not even their own work. That would be a huge turn off to me in general but I've gotten word of more reviews from others so I left it alone. I was able to see that they're a small business with a huge selection of arrangements at very reasonable prices. Because I live overseas, and am a day ahead of NYC, I had a some difficulty placing the order, but I was able to reach the business owner via the google business chat feature. I have never used that feature before, and I was so impressed. The owner responded immediately and was able to patiently help me put through the order I wanted. I ordered flowers for my friend's birthday. I chose the Designer's Choice bouquet, thinking that they would pick the freshest flowers that they currently had. When I saw the flowers they sent - I was embarrassed. Half of the arrangement was brown/dead! I called them and the woman I spoke with was nice, but you could tell she was annoyed that I was complaining about the order. She asked that my friend bring in the arrangement and they would take it back. The problem was that she brought the arrangement home. They offered to exchange the flowers for ones that had not already turned brown, if she brought in the vase and took a picture of the flowers. It's nice that they offered to fix the problem, but those flowers should never have been shipped out in the first place. They were unacceptable. Then to be told that I 'only' paid $55 for flowers kind of made me feel like it wasn't an important order. I will never order from them again. I placed an order with 1800flowers.com and this was the local florist they contracted to fill it. On Sunday evening, I scheduled a next day delivery thinking they would leave the flowers at the doorstep. I was out of town and wanted to surprise my girlfriend with flowers when she got home from work. Apparently this place only delivers between 11am and 3pm and if no one is home to let them in the building, they will not leave the flowers. I told them multiple times that no one would ever be home during that time and was promised a later delivery. That later delivery never came. This an unacceptable business practice in my opinion to not accommodate for deliveries outside of what's convenient for them. I called 1800flowers and got a refund as its 3 days later and I'm afraid my flowers will arrive dead. read more

I received a potted orchid from a friend as a condolence gift from 116 Flower Shop. When it was accepted by the doorman, they noted that the stem seemed broken (hanging down at a less than 90 degree angle with a clear crack in the stem)--when another doorman and I both called to inquire if this was the way it was supposed to be, the woman we spoke to was insistent that we were wrong and "it was trained to grow this way." Even if this was indeed the way it should be (which I doubt), you'd think she would have made some effort to correct us in a polite manner. Instead, she was unhelpful and actively rude to both our lovely doorman and to me. She did say that we could send a photo to see if it looked the way it was supposed to--but when I did, there was no response at all. Appreciate the gift from my friend but would not recommend this flower shop at all due to the exceedingly poor customer service. read more

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!! I came in on Mother's day afternoon and was pushing my luck trying to place a funeral arrangement for THE VERY NEXT DAY. Not only was it last minute, but I also wanted a CUSTOM order. To my surprise allowed me to place the order. Later on that evening, my sister then came and placed TWO more orders. When we arrived to the church the next day the custom flower arrangements of a orange Essie Nail polish bottle, Red Lips and a Pink breast cancer ribbon were there before we reached. They all were ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL!!!! Simply AMAZING!!! The crazy thing is that they each were reasonably priced. I wish I could post the pictures, but dont know how. Not a fan. Picked the Florist Designed bouquet for my girlfriend and they sent this ugly, almost all-filler bouquet. It had 5 of those fake orange dyed roses (petals were brown on the tips upon arrival) and the rest was all green filler or wilted looking white daisies with purple "moss"-type crap.
