There were many errors that caused the experience to be highly disappointing. Here are several errors...we paid for a guarantee that Shula would align with our vision--not her vision which resulted in Bride's bouquet was impractical for usage as it was too large & too heavy; a major distraction from the bride and placed a burden on the bride. Groom's boutonnière was impractical for usage as it was too large & too heavy; All other boutonnieres were too large (not matching "our vision") and could not be attached properly to men's jackets; they dangled upside down because of their weight. During the set up of the event, Shula was rude to me. Shula made unilateral decisions to remove parts of the contract such as an entrance-way flower and uplighting treatment. I asked to remedy the situation and was stonewalled. Completely unprofessional. read more

Three weeks before mothers day, my husband and I engaged Shula Wiener from this shop to prepare some plantings for our terrace. Both of our mothers are coming into the City for mothers day, and we wanted to host a celebration for them. Shula said she could work with any budget, so we ended up agreeing to spend $2500. Immediately after we gave her the go-ahead to do the work, Shula became unresponsive and evasive. She never sent the plans she promised us, and the only sketches she showed my husband were actually made on scrap paper in her shop while he was standing there. When we emailed her to arrange to pay our deposit, she never responded even though we had told her that we needed to go out of the country the weekend before mothers day. After we chased her down and paid the deposit, she started to push back on her promise to have the plantings ready by mothers day. When my husband insisted that Shula have the work done by mothers day (after all, that was the reason we were having the plantings done), Shula told him that she couldn't deal with the stress and that he should come get our deposit back. No discussion, no apology, no nothing. And this was on the Thursday before mothers day. Now it's two days before mothers day and we're scrambling to do the plantings ourselves, which is rough because neither of us are gardeners or florists. My husband said he told Shula off in front of her employees. I'm glad he did because now we're screwed -- She didn't have to string us along until the last moment if she wasn't going to deliver. If she couldn't work with the budget we had, she shouldn't have promised to do the work for us. I don't know what Shula's work is like, since she never even delivered on the plans that she promised us. But her customer service skills are horrible. In fact, I'll even say that her personal skills are awful, since she didn't even show us the common decency that you would show any person. The fact that she treated customers the way she did is mind-boggling. Even now, I'm restraining myself from saying what I think of Shula because I'm not the kind of person who posts language like that on a public website. What kind of person ruins someone's mothers day and then is rude about it? What a miserable woman. read more

Customer service: Rude, Condescending, Vague, and Unhelpful. Flowers: Overpriced for mediocre arrangements. I was in need of a flower arrangement for a memorial service. The church recommended that I use Flowers by Special Arrangement. While the flowers were fairly nice (1-800flowers nice), I was very disappointed by the customer service. I asked them what type of arrangement they had for funerals. They said "anything you want. I can make you a big centerpiece for $210." I said "what can I get for $50?" They condescendingly replied that I can't get anything for $50. I continued to pull teeth in an attempt to find out what I could get. When I ended the conversation, all I knew was I was spending $75 on something - no idea what that was. He took my credit card number and ended the call. Today when I checked by bank account it appeared they charged me $93. I called them to find out why and they replied "delivery fee and tax." I said, "no one informed of a delivery fee or tax." The response was what I assumed they would say, "well we always charge delivery fee and tax." Needless to say I will not be using Flowers by Special Arrangement again. read more

Several days ago, I ordered red roses and purple hydrangea to be sent to our hosts for Rosh Hashanah dinner to arrive early Monday afternoon from Shula Flowers By Special Arrangements at West 60th St, NYC. Sunday, the day before delivery was due, we received a note from our hosts that they had received a bouquet of white roses. At 1:15 I immediately called Shula and asked why they delivered the wrong order a day early. Shula told me they would check into it and call me back. She never called me back. The next morning, I called at 9:01 am and asked for Shula. She told me that I had not placed the order correctly and what did I expect her to do about it. I said I expected her to call me back, and feel some responsibility for a $175 order. I told her I wanted the order replaced with the correct flowers and resent. She told me she could not promise me she would send it because she probably would not resend it. I said if she did not get the order for the right merchandise, that it was a problem with her system since I had pushed the picture of the purple hydrangeas and the red roses. She was absolutely indifferent to my call, since she already had her money. I would NEVER buy from her again and I would NEVER recommend that anyone buy from her. She does not belong in business. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY OR YOUR TIME. Her attitude was disgraceful. The flowers were a day old, the wrong flowers and meager at best. I was embarrassed. I feel cheated. read more

Shula & Dov are just wonderful, decent people who take pride in their work! We purchased our dream apartment in NYC which included a 70 foot, 750sf terrace. Coming from the burbs and having owned two homes I thought I knew everything, Shula proved me wrong; she knew what would survive and thrive under NY Penthouse conditions, she recommended many types planters which she had shipped to her shop for our review, designed the plantings, set up an irrigation system and lighting, we could not be happier! A year later several of the many shrubs did not survive the winter, Dov made it a priority to come back, take inventory and replace anything that had died. I engaged owners for a wedding in the city in April. I spoke with Shula several times over the phone and changed directions a couple of times in the months leading up to the wedding. Shula worked with our budget and proposed new designs after an initial change in venue size (a bigger format at the same address). For all the events and dinners, I give high marks. We had many compliments for the flowers and many people taking them home at the end of the night. Rude awful service. Walked into an empty store and was greeted by a man watching tv and eating. Wanted to get a corsage and boutennaire for my daughter's prom. Could not have been less helpful. Wouldn't suggest anything and said it's no big deal. Barely spoke to us and he was visibly annoyed that we asked questions as if wanting something special was an inconvenience. We asked what greenery would be around it and he snapped it's all the same. The young man I was with went back in twice to ask some questions as he wanted it to be special and it devolved into a fight. If flowers are that special touch for a meaningful occasion RUN and avoid this place. It ruined our day but luckily we found another florist who was so helpful and is making our girl's day memorable. I had Flowers by Special Arrangement do the flowers for my wedding in July at Terrace in the Sky. The arrangements were gorgeous. We didn't request to see before hand what the flowers would look like exactly, so I didn't know exactly what to expect, especially since we had a relatively low budget for flowers. All of the arrangements were beautiful, way beyond my expectations. Shula worked with our strict budgetary needs and managed to still provide us with flower arrangements that were unique and beautiful. We got lots of compliments on the flowers and even my grandmother who is a flower connoisseur loved them. But most importantly, I loved them. read more

I went in earlier today to pick up a bouquet of flowers for my GF's birthday and told the florist the amount I was able to spend (I'm a grad student) and the owner gave me a nasty look and said "That's it?" It made me feel cheap and I muttered under my breath "I'm a grad student and it's all I can afford." I should have walked out right then but not knowing other places in my neighborhood, I stayed. Four days before my wife's birthday, I stopped in and personally ordered flowers to be delivered to her work. At 6PM on the day of the birthday, nothing had been delivered. I called the flower shop and, in a nonchalant voice, the owner described that they hadn't even started making the arrangement! I said asked why they didn't call me in the day if they knew there was a problem. No answer. I asked why they thought they could deliver the flowers in the evening to a work address where no one would be there to accept delivery. No answer. He provided the least sincere apology I have ever heard from a person. They eventually delivered flower to our home but that's after I had to apologize to my wife for the shop's oversight. They do beautiful work but are completely and utterly undependable. Buyer beware! read more

I live in upstate New York and wanted to send flowers to my daughter in NYC. Online I found this florist shop and was hesitant because I wanted my daughter to get the flowers the same day. Bill told me that would not be a problem. Then Bill calls me back about an hour later and tells me that the flowers I had chosen had come into his store and they did not look nice at all. He gave me a couple of options and gave me the same price!! My daughter just received them(only 3 hours later, could not believe it) and my son-in-law sent me a picture of the flowers and told me she really really liked them and that they were "so her"!!!!
