Instead of "happy little trees," you can have happy little flowers... with a coffee and pastry My friend and I had some time to kill, and I'd walked past this place at least a million times, and I'd heard about the cafe inside. We were trying to find a little cafe to hang before our reservation kicked in. I was so glad I remembered because it was all sorts of awesome and then some! The cafe is very cozy, tables have a 90min time limit (so no Starbucks type of hangers on who stay all day for free WiFi). I got an iced pumpkin pie latte with oat milk, and it was great. And we got to enjoy some lattes before heading out amongst the lovely flowers. Also, the pastries look amaze balls. I didn't get one, but I'm definitely going to have to try this again in the future. read more

The original bouquet was gorgeous with one exception: the peonies. Apparently, these flowers open up drastically, showing the stamen, stigma, and filament. I had not realized this fact. When I brought my complaint to the owner, he went out of his way to correct the situation. He delivered several roses to replace the peonies and apologized. Wonderful service and response. A cute cafe with adequate seating is a unicorn in the city, up there with an apartment with its own washer/dryer unit. Having one mere blocks from my apartment as a convenient meeting-ground for catch-ups is seriously a dream (really sad to be leaving this behind). I wish the UWS had more stores like Flowers on the Park, rather than miserable empty storefronts or the "dark groceries" that have infested the low 90s. There's plentiful outdoor seating under a scaffold, so you have some protection from the elements, as well as a few tables inside. Extensive coffee and tea menu for all your cafe wants. Though I haven't tried, they also offer some pastries, including gluten-free options. That said, if you come here actually to buy plants, the selection is limited. The focus is on flowers (lots of orchids scattered about) and I can never seem to get to the store during the hours the florist is there for when I'm on the hunt for plants that aren't toxic to my cats. If you want more of a selection of plants to browse, there's a Plantshed on Columbus as well as a bigger plant store further down Amsterdam. read more

Okay so hunting down spots that offer gluten free anything is an adventure in and of itself. I walk past this place all the time and I never stop in for a treat or to enjoy the ambiance of flowers coffee and good sweets. While out running errands on this holiday weekend I stopped. Gluten free vegan chocolate brownie cake. I give any baker credit for even trying, never mind creating a great vegan treat. Whom ever is responsible for this treat created something quite nice and not too sweet. I've depended on gorgeous and unique arrangements from this wonderful local business for over 20 years. The fact that their floral arrangements are hands down the most tasteful and beguiling in all of NY, and that they are always fresh and last for weeks on end (assuming I don't totally space changing the water!) has been a given all of these years. When I order things from them online to send to friends or colleagues, I get not just the "thank you for your lovely gift" note, but a call demanding, "where did you order those flowers from?!" That's all old news, but this week I stopped by the shop to pick out flowers for myself and WOW!!! THEY NOW SERVE COFFEE!!! I can't believe I paid $200 for this arrangement... I sent them a photo of what I wanted and what I got was completely different and it's hideous! I just asked for the greenery to be different from the picture and the rest to be the same. He didn't even show me the options I could choose from and when I went to pick up the arrangements they said they can't replace the greenery because I didn't specify what I wanted and they would have to redo the whole thing. Hello, I don't know anything about greenery you work here and you're supposed to show me the options and explain to me. He just told me to send him a photo and come pick it up on the day I need it by. If you can't make the arrangement let me know and I can find a different florist. This is truly upsetting. Well, it would have been a lovely place to go have a cup of coffee with a laptop, except that they will not let customers use their bathroom. They actually tell you that instead of using their bathroom, which is reserved for employees, you should "sneak into" the restaurant catty corner across the street. If this business wants customers to buy a coffee and sit in all the chairs and tables they have, they need to let those customers use the bathroom. Is it even legal for an establishment of this size, with this many tables, not to have a bathroom available? read more

I have to say I am very disappointed with this place! My husband as bought many arrangements for me all very pretty, we have bought gift cards and just recently a potted succulent arrangement. That is the last purchase any of us will make. They are not only over priced but very unfriendly, almost rude. I'm sure back of the house is nice but the help on the floor is anything but approachable. On 5/31 I bought two friends an arrangement, I nicely explained what it was for( very sad) even tearing up as to why and the lady(possible manager or owner, maybe) was stone cold. I said I didn't want to spend over $100 and asked for help. She gave me no ideas except what was out front which was fine but no guidance. I'm not a florist not to mention and I had two babies with me. Ideas would have been appreciated. She had me pay up front, not even knowing if I'll like what she was going to put together and what do you know exactly $100 plus tax. Way to take advantage of what I said. It was a white pot not completely filled almost bare with white stones and a couple small cactus and two boring succulents on each side. My neighbor who met me at the store to help carry it agreed it looked sad. Just as we thought this the worker informed us she made one just like it to sell. Seeing that one it was much nicer and not as bare so I asked to have that one, with the extra succulent that she no doubt would charge the same price even though it offered more than the one she made me. I said thank you to them, I never heard one thank you or any kind words being said. Just a disgusted look. Their flowers are nice in a cute little shop but this is NYC, many other places. They over charge and do not appreciate your business. Very sad. My friend even said they made her feel bad for using the $100 gift card that I actually gave to her that she used on a Mother's Day arrangement. Why do they care? Anyways 3 stars is generous!!! Customer service should not be a thing of the past. How many occasions do we need to buy flowers a year- a ton. So why not be nice? read more

It started by the leaf that became yellow after 1 week only and then the orchid button that started to fell one by one... I truly believe this to be the best florist in NYC. Every time I have ordered anything sent to a friend, business associate or aquaintance I get a call asking where in the world did I get these fantastic flowers! They have also made arrangements for my son's Bar Mitzvah and my daughter's Bat Mitzvah - both beyond the call of duty and remarkeably beautiful. I have been in here a few times over the years and the owner of this store is BEYOND RUDE to his customers. Today's interaction is my last time of going into this store. Today I went in to buy some flowers for mother's day, there was literally no other customers in. The owner was on the phone, as he always is, and his employees were all around working on orders. No one looked up. No one asked me how they could help me. So I saw a bouquet of flowers on the ground and I picked them up and asked them if they were for sale, the owner looks at me, scowls at me, grabs the flowers out of my hand and places them back on the floor. And then walks away talking on the phone again. He has done this to other customers over the years. He made no indication to get off the phone and assist me in my purchase of flowers, so I just left. He and his employees have a TERRIBLE customer service model. If you have customers in your store, you ask them how you can help them? You tell them, "Hold on one moment, I'll be with you shortly." You don't just blatantly ignore customers. This owner is rude, and doesn't care about your service, so I hope he goes out of business. There are plenty of other places to get flowers from, try Broadway Market on Broadway and 86th street, don't waste your money by supporting this business. read more

This place is horrible on every level. When I went to purchase a plant, I first needed to ask the owner a few quick, reasonable questions--how often to water it, what kind of sunlight it needs, etc. After finally acknowledging my presence, he was so hostile it would have almost been funny if it didn't border on threatening. He was highly argumentative, impatient and condescending. Truly have never experienced such rudeness and dismissiveness in a retail environment. Which *might* be forgivable if the plant (a large hydrangea) turned out to be healthy. Despite following his exact instructions (barked at me like I was an idiot he could barely tolerate), and having plenty of gardening experience, it died within a week. He obviously lied when he said the plant would be fine in my conditions. And the kicker? The plant cost $50. Two days later I saw the exact same plant at Loew's for $24. Same nursery/brand (printed on container), size, type. I've never written a negative Yelp review before. But this owner is astonishingly nasty, and he sells overpriced, unhealthy plants, so I wanted to warn others. I just read other reviews and I'm a little consoled to see I'm not alone! read more

I've always walked by this beautiful flower shop and noticed the amazing flowers on display as it's been in my neighborhood for years but I had the good fortune to go there this week...twice-and now they forever have me as a customer. The first time I went in, I was impressed by the variety of different flowers, impressive arrangements, and clear knowledge the owners had of each flower displayed as well as the amazing vases on sale (one of which I purchased). The second time I went in was a day later-when that beautiful vase I bought broke on the One stop Subway ride home after I was jostled in the car and when I called the owner, really expecting nothing, he said "don't worry! It happens. Come in when you can and get another!" And then gave me the last vase he had (with the flowers included) for free when I came by the next day. This is for their 2nd location on Third Ave. I ordered all pink flowers well in advance. They arrived and they were red and purple! I called and spoke with the owner who was very apologetic and said he would correct them. An hour later the designer called me to say they had no pink flowers at all and that the owner was going to bring them some. I had an event that I ordered the flowers for. I waited all day and called at the end of the day to ask where my flowers were. I was told the owner was too busy to bring them any pink flowers. What a waste. I waited all day and still no flowers. I asked for arrangement that was $150. Guess they do not value customers. Will never go back! read more
