Modest bathroom with built in storage shelves, sink, toilet and vintage claw foot tub with a modern shower head. Breakfast at B&Bs are one of the highlights of the stay. Here was no different. To start, Greek yogurt with honey, fresh diced fruit (apples & oranges), and warm zucchini bread. Followed by a vegetable omelette, sliced strawberries, roasted potatoes and tomatoes. Seasoned to taste, appetizing and filling. Drink options varied from coffee, tea and juices. Charming B&B that I would recommend if you want to stay in a home-style environment with personal attention, great conversation, snacks, drinks and above par b/fast to fill you up.

Perfect for us! Across from our room was the sitting room where her father (who was visiting) was working on a puzzle. The father greeted us warmly and said we could help with the puzzle if we would like. Noted*, there was a small hall way with stairs going up to the other rooms, and half bath & into the dining sun room. This is where breakfasts would be, coffee, tea and snacks were available whenever you wanted and the house was simply charming. There was a formal dining room too- I loved the antiques and historic quality in the decor. Jessica and her husband bought the Duck Smith House a couple years ago and they were both very generous with any help and information. I did partake in the puzzle and helped finish it. The breakfasts were simply delightful! Our first morning, she made apple sourdough pancakes that were an inch thick (at least)! And the bacon!!! Day two was quiche- one of my favorites and day three was waffles with stewed apples. I overheard Jessica telling someone else that she tries to rotate between sweet and savory for breakfast. John and I also enjoyed all the kitties, the goats- I fed them some grapes! and I loved the pumpkin patch they had set up for the weekend! John even went out to Justin's model shop. I stayed for 4 nights 5 days & they were very welcoming and friendly the whole time. The pictures showed a few bedrooms & a living area in a house in the country. I made contact to confirm if they were open & the owner Freddie Morgan emailed me that the dates that the price listed on the website is for the dates that automatically populate on it, which is Christmas week. He said those same accamodations now (June) are $1700. But, he said, he could put me in a tent for $700 for the 15 days. I acquiesced and agreed to that, even though it felt like a Bait and Switch tactic. I flew from NY to NC and stayed 1 (ONE) night, out of the 14 I had paid for, and then left. It was very uncomfortable in the tent, the tent had wasps, the bathroom was inside a kitchen used by campers, on a dirt floor, with a shower curtain for a door, that was not at all private. You could clearly hear the conversations of the people in the kitchen and you could see them through the shower curtain and they can see you, while you're trying to use the bathroom. The tent zipper got stuck repeatedly so that I was stuck inside the tent until I could finally manage to open it. It was extremely hot, and fasting in those conditions is extremely difficult. I reached out to both Freddie Morgan and bookretreats.com to get a refund but Freddie refused. He took my $700 for 1 miserable night sleeping in a tent in his barn. He markets his property as a weight loss retreat, writers retreat, stargazing retreat, airbnb, sleep-in-a-barn, and the Fred T. Morgan Homeplace Hotel. Since he is a jack of all trades and master of none, with no medical certificate, yet running a business that is for people to go almost 15 days without food in nearly 100 degree weather, he should at least be cognizant that the situation -sleeping in a hot wasp filled tent while fasting-will not work for everyone.

The property doesn't look big from the outside but it is enormous. We stayed in the King Suite and it was very comfortable. The bathroom is huge and has a jacuzzi tub in it. The backyard has a lot of space for relaxation. She has games such as miniput, table tennis, and an inground pool. There are tons or chairs, swings and a cabana to relax outside at. The best part of course is the 3 course home made breakfast she makes every morning. It starts out with fresh fruit with yogurt, tea or coffee, water, and a smoothie.
