My only regret- not getting more time here! My very first Bed and Breakfast and they truly…read morefulfilled and exceeded my expectations! Jessica greeted us in the parking lot outside and showed us inside and gave us the grand tour. Our room was the largest one- with the biggest bathroom too and just inside the front door. Perfect for us! Across from our room was the sitting room where her father (who was visiting) was working on a puzzle. The father greeted us warmly and said we could help with the puzzle if we would like. Noted*, there was a small hall way with stairs going up to the other rooms, and half bath & into the dining sun room. This is where breakfasts would be, coffee, tea and snacks were available whenever you wanted and the house was simply charming. There was a formal dining room too- I loved the antiques and historic quality in the decor. Jessica and her husband bought the Duck Smith House a couple years ago and they were both very generous with any help and information. I did partake in the puzzle and helped finish it. The breakfasts were simply delightful! Our first morning, she made apple sourdough pancakes that were an inch thick (at least)! And the bacon!!! Day two was quiche- one of my favorites and day three was waffles with stewed apples. I overheard Jessica telling someone else that she tries to rotate between sweet and savory for breakfast. John and I also enjoyed all the kitties, the goats- I fed them some grapes! and I loved the pumpkin patch they had set up for the weekend! John even went out to Justin's model shop. I hope I get to stay here again, because I absolutely loved it!!!

I have been here more than home since then and it is now October 1st! I have stayed in every room and have liked all of them. My favorite is Bertie's Room as it has a nice big bathtub. One of the more successful iterations of the tiny-accommodations communities I've seen. (One note…read moreis their website calls these Charlotte-Raleigh for the area. It does note that each of those cities is about an hour and a half away. I cannot imagine why you would consider staying here if you were doing anything in either of those two cities. These seem to me much more suited to the nearby NC Zoo or one of the natural areas in the region.) I appreciate that everything is on one level (no sleeping in a loft where you crack your head sitting up in bed) and that the bathroom is surprisingly large, particularly the shower. There is a single sink, so kitchen and bathing uses are combined into one facility. I guess one of the casualties of this design is any comfortable seating space to read, etc. There are two wooden chairs at the small desk/table, but the only suitable place to read indoors would be the bed (which has a firm but comfortable mattress). The outdoor space is nice provided the weather cooperates. Other cabins are close enough that you can probably hear incidental noise, but people are far enough away that you should get peace and quiet unless people in a neighboring unit get out of control. There's a peaceful pond with a path around most of it. Having walked the compound, I think it would be worth it to pay the nominal extra amount for one of the "view" cabins that would overlook the pond. The zoo is very close by, and downtown Asheboro is about 10 minutes away.

We have never stayed at a Fairfield that was in this much need of a renovation. The hotel looks like it hasn't been renovated since the 80s, and is tired. The furniture inside the rooms are old, there are no USB ports, a small TV, and a bathroom in bad condition. The bathroom itself had grime in the crevices of the floor and had blood stains in the crevices of the bath tub. The shower curtain doesn't even cover the entire length of the shower, and water temperature is inconsistent. Sometimes it's lukewarm at the hottest setting, but suddenly it gets up to a burning capable temperature. There was a damp washcloth hanging on the shower curtain when we walked into our room, which should have been picked up by housekeeping. This made us wonder if our room was thoroughly cleaned or not. The beds are as hard as a rock and pillows are so flat that you need three of them to make the size of one pillow. The whole bottom floor smells like microwaved food even at night AND in the morning. The staff are kind and informative, which is needed at a hotel but is no excuse for the condition of this Fairfield. This hotel just needs to be demolished and a new, fresher, and modern one needs to be built.

Room was clean with enough room for us and our dog. Shower had good water pressure. The breakfast was excellent. Every employee we encountered was helpful and pleasant. Bathroom sink was not draining and maintenance showed up within the hour after I reported the issue to the front desk. Would definitely stay again if we are in the area.

Coming into the hotel the lobby is nice, there's a nice size seating area and a little area to pick up last minute snacks/ items you might have forgotten. The gal that helped me during the morning was quick and attentive, she told us the elevator was slow and kind of chuckled.. thought it was odd but shrugged it off.. going to the elevator I will say it's not slow.. it's sketchy. The doors to it were already open yet I didn't see anyone coming out, we got on and it took fifty years for the doors to shut.. then a loud buzzing went off before we went up to the third floor. Walking to the room you smell about fifty different smells which is fine, multiple people cooking multiple things throughout the halls. Getting into the room the first thing I noticed was the musty smell of the room. It turned me off but the overall look of the room itself was nice and modern. The bathroom is spacious. The tub itself didn't seem to be wiped down thoroughly which I cleaned before bathing my child.. the rag came out kind of dirty which was gross. Another thing that was unpleasant was the bed sheets are white.. yet there were visible stains on the sheets, comforter and pillows.. not only that but later on I was told that the hotel is known for bed bugs... great. The breakfast was actually extremely satisfying. They had cinnamon rolls which was a big hit for my little one, pancakes, bacon and eggs, a big variety of things. I would say overall the stay was good. Clean wise it's mediocre which I wasn't expecting for an holiday inn.

What I didn't realize was that the number I called connected me to a third-party booking service--not the hotel directly. When we arrived, our reservation wasn't quite right, and I was even charged for an extra room. Thankfully, Mackenzie at the front desk was absolutely incredible. She quickly figured out what happened, personally contacted the third-party service, and got the refund processed right away. She and Brian, another front desk clerk, not only fixed everything efficiently--they also gave us great tips for our trip to the zoo, which made the experience even better. What could've started as a stressful situation turned into a smooth and memorable stay thanks to Mackenzie and Brian. We're so grateful and already looking forward to coming back next year!

Upon walking into our room it smelled heavily of cigarettes smoke and a cover up like Fe breeze. My entire family was like 'we are not staying in this room'. To note-it was listed as a non-smoking room. Upon check in, the gentleman was very kind and check in was fast. I go back to the counter and the woman was not nice. I explained we would like a non smoking room and is there by chance another room available. She gave me dirty looks, didn't say a single word to me but did change our room. Literally no words. Just handed me the new key card with the room number on it. Ok. Fine. The hotel itself is very dated. We stayed here on the recommendation of friends. It was packed the entire time. I didn't know it was close to the N Carolina Zoo. So many little kids. Which are adorable. Many young kids excited for their plans for the weekend. Completely fine. Just be prepared you'll be hearing kids late into the night and early in the morning. Along with parents talking loudly in the halls thinking everyone wants to know they are chasing their toddlers through the halls at 5am or 12am. Back to the hotel. Just gives an overall feeling of ick. Large bug carcasses lying in the hallway floors. Some sort of beetle but not a cockroach. Took some pics of the tired furniture/decor, etc. Definitely need some capital improvements to this place.
