I was told our room had been upgraded to a junior suite, though aside from a decorative couch and slightly more space, it wasn't entirely clear what differentiated it from a standard room. That said, the room itself was comfortable and well-appointed. Compared to the JW Marriott the night before, the bed here was noticeably more comfortable, and the bathroom was refreshingly problem-free--good water pressure, a functional shower, and no missing amenities. We also had dinner at Mico Restaurant, which was excellent and deserving of its own separate Yelp review. Overall, the Grand Bohemian provided exactly what I was hoping for on an unexpected extra night in Charlotte: a stylish environment, attentive service, and a comfortable stay that made travel delays a bit easier to tolerate.

The hotel also has an excellent on-site restaurant, Angeline's, as well as Merchant & Trade, a rooftop bar with a great atmosphere and beautiful views. Beyond that, the Kimpton offers complimentary bikes, a well-equipped fitness center, and so many thoughtful amenities that made our stay even more enjoyable. The location couldn't be better--it's centrally located in Uptown Charlotte and within easy walking distance of so many restaurants, attractions, and entertainment. He truly made me feel welcome. I actually looked forward to seeing both Brandon and Brian each day. Brian made every valet experience quick, easy, and enjoyable with his positive attitude. One thing that really stood out was when I accidentally left my phone in my car after handing it over to valet. I offered to go get it myself, but Brian wouldn't let me. He immediately ran to retrieve it and brought it back to me with a smile and absolutely no attitude. That level of customer service is hard to find these days, and I truly appreciated it. The entire staff was warm, welcoming, and always willing to help. My room was spotless, and the bed was absolutely heavenly--I slept so well every night! Excellent customer service and a wonderful overall experience. I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it!

But we gave it a shot. And I'm so glad we did. Holden was working the front desk and was quite warm ano hospitable. He told us a bit about the hotel and the history and meaning behind the design. Hornets, Swarm, Hornet's Nest, Rebels, Mecklenburg County, Revolutionary War. Other staff members were really great as well. We loved Side Eye restaurant and our service and food there. The hotel had only been open a few months when we were there. The place was o little slow. But, it was right after the holidays and most New Year's and bowl game activities were downtown. Btw, we did stay downtown at the Le Meridien the night of the bowl game. The lobby was nicely decorated and comfortable. The gym was small but nice. Good views from there. I realize Green is a bia deal and hotels are stepping away from bott! + water a bit. But I need bottled water in my hote rooms. Sorry. The carpeting was nice. The beds were greatly comfortable. Enjoyed the large smart TVs. The Bee door knockers on the rooms are a nice touch. Also loved the honey comb vibe in the carpet and on the wooden panel covering the AC. The bathroom had great mirrors, shower, tile, and amenities. One downside for me is that I'd love for them to have o pool and maybe a place to play pool. The driveway and entry outside is a little shabby, needed a good pressure washing. And this is just my opinion, but the white block letters with the name of the hotel at the top of building are very boring. Incorporate the MH logo somehow and make it blue or red, something other than white.

The bathroom and shower are very accommodating, with an expansive counter for all your toiletries. The staff is very friendly and professional. Special shout outs to Gabbe at the Front Desk and the bartenders, Brooke and James, who prepared amazing specialty cocktails. The bar in the facility is called Side Eye and also serves food. I enjoyed the signature burger of the hotel on my first night since I arrived later in the evening. It was a perfectly cooked big burger with all the fixin's, including bacon! It came with excellent tasting fries and a side of aioli (see pic). The reasons I gave this establishment only four stars is due to my personal preferences. For example, there are no alarm clocks in the rooms. Also, there is no nightlight in the bathroom so if your need to use the facilities and don't want the harsh lights hitting you when you turn on the switch, I recommend you bring your own nightlight. I'm a Gold member, but you only get 500 bonus points for your stay. I prefer the Hilton as a Gold member as they include bottled water in the room and sometimes a snack. (Bottled water here is $5!) Finally, if you do not have a car, there are minimal nice dining establishments within walking distance. Nakato Japanese Steakhouse is across the street (3.4 stars on Yelp), and a Chick-fil-a and a China Buffet are down the block. The Boardwalk area is across a 6-lane highway with many shops and restaurants (including a good authentic Mexican restaurant, Zapata's). Sidewalks are minimal once you cross the street at the highway crosswalk until you get up close to the Boardwalk area. However, a Hilton is right there and would be a much easier pedestrian walk from that hotel.

My fiancé and I opted to purchase the Fairytale Package. With that package, a lot of the hard part of the wedding planning is taking off of your plate. You get a choice of a few caterers, a few florists, a few DJs, etc... all the sourcing of the vendors is already done for you! All of the vendors that Lynn has on this list are top notch professionals. There is a Bridal Suite & Grooms Suite that made the getting ready process a blast - just show up, pour some champagne, and enjoy your last few hours with your girls (or guys!) before you're married! Having the Bridal Suite with full kitchen, bathroom, living room, and bedroom allowed us to get comfy and spend the morning getting our hair & makeup done without having to worry about transportation or timelines. I would highly recommend using Polished Event Design & Fine Decor Rental (Lynn's other company) to help add even more beauty to your special day. Once we got to the parking lot of the hotel, it was fine. First issue we faced was checking in. This should have been the easiest, but this was so annoying. We are already tired and want to go lay down somewhere, but we couldn't find anyone to help us to check in for good 5+ minutes. This is not a typical large chain hotels with large lobby area with couches and chairs for guests to wait and rest. You walk 5 steps inside the hotel main entrance, and you are at the hotel counter. I see the security cameras and hotel computer all on, but no one in sight. I thought this hotel was abandoned for some time until I found person laptop in the breakfast/office space to the left of the check-in counter; however, this room was stuffy and hot - You couldn't stay in there for more than few minutes without feeling yucky. I yelled for help and went to look for someone by the elevator and first floor hotels, but NO ONE came - I repeat "NO ONE". After waiting, what it felt like, forever, a young lady came down from the elevator, with no apologies, and checked us in. I was already ticked off by the time I got the keys. Second issue we faced was that the hotel room door was damaged so that we weren't able to lock the door. I called the guest service for help, and the employee who checked us in was still at the counter to send someone in for help. The help didn't know what was wrong with the door, so we had to switch the room. This could have been an one-off situation, but I was thoroughly unimpressed. Location is very close to highway, so it's ideal. But my experience was not good, and I will be going to another place for my next visit in the area.

So clean, convenient and wonderful for our pets. Check in was a breeze - we got a first floor room as requested. The parking lot was lit and spacious. The room itself had a full-size refrigerator and a mini kitchen with two queen beds and of course a bathroom. Which had a hair dryer and plenty of towels and sundries. Everything was perfect I highly recommend and have already recommended to friends who travel Between WNY and Florida and need a rest spot.
