I've been a few times on Saturday afternoons and so far haven't had any trouble getting in. The bar is very tiny there are seats for 9 and a standing capacity for about 30. It's a standard little dive, somewhat run down (aka "character"). Somehow they've managed to wedge a pool table into the limited amount of space. Dad's is almost invisible from the main road (State Ave) so you really have to be looking for it to find it.

I also got to chat to a few of the regulars. It is an intimate space, but it was really nice. It is all bar stool seating and there's a step up into the bar and then another couple of steps to the bathroom. So not ADA friendly, but like most bars they're just dealing with the cards they were dealt in the early 1900s when they were opened! Over all, you should go check it out if you're interested in finding your own little local watering hole.

Of the 5 places we stopped at, Sammy's was the only one that I had not previously been to. It is also the only stop that I see myself not returning too. The joint is pretty small with a long wooden bar and the atmosphere is old school neighborhood dive bar. Equally as small was the hospitality from the lady behind the bar. We seemed to be interrupting her Candy Crush game or Facebook scrolling and she was in no mood for small talk, friendliness or any form of positive customer interaction that one expects when entering a watering hole. We ended up taking our beers outside to their less than spectacular patio, and left as soon as we could for a very cool experience 2 blocks north at the Colonial Club.

It gets too packed and people are rude. I saw an inebriated man fall down and one of the bar staff just stood there and looked at him. On the plus side, they did have their own parking behind the building - and you shouldn't have to pay to park. While the ambiance is extremely cool and very Vegas-esque, but having to 'pay to sit' in an extremely small atmosphere and the way nothing is uniform at the door will definitely have me hesitate to coming back to the club.
