I rarely give bad reviews (check my profile). We have been coming to The 9W market for a few years because it's halfway between DC and MA. Generally appealing, but each time I leave underwhelmed. I spend a mint and the food is generally sub par. There are some good items but pretty hit and miss. Today was a perfect example. A good but plain chicken salad sandwich and a good homemade spinach pie, but then we got Greek salad and quinoa from the prepared foods case. Both were passed their "sell by date" ... the cucumbers were mushy and some lettuce was turning. We ate them because we were hungry, but the more bites I had the more I felt that they should be half priced items. I went to ask for a refund just of one of the two items (not both) and the answer was "why did you eat so much?" A bit taken aback I answered that we were hungry and added if they don't want to offer a refund I guess we should not come back and they said that sounded like a fine plan. So I guess I won't be going back. DM me if you have other suggestions for good restaurants in the Palisades area. read more

There are two eateries- one stand that offers burgers, sandwiches and fries, milkshakes, etc., and another cafe-like setting serving up heartier, fancier meals like lobster rolls, steaks, tuna salads, pasta and such. Service was okay, given the long lines. You can also order online to save time before you arrive. Your name gets called out on the loudspeaker when your order is done. You seat yourselves- either inside or outside. Our burgers and fries were great, seasoned well and cooked to our desired temp. Fries were generous and are served thin. We had the aoli sauce. I ordered the tuna salad sandwich that came with chips. Hearty bread, well seasoned and a generous portion of the tuna salad. My husband had the cubed steaks and brussel sprouts as his side. Steaks were cooked to desired temp and the sprouts were grilled. We were a party of 13 and we found a table that sat us comfortably. We didn't feel rush. The vibe was friendly. Is is a very cool and Fun place. I noticed a lot of Bikers and cyclists stop here for a bite to eat. It looks like is very family friendly as i noticed people from all ages even furry friends. Great food and a lot of healthy viriety that looks to be made fresh with Fresh ingredient. They also have a good selection of drinks and beer. No wonder this is a favorite stop after a strenuous workout. In my case, a day of hiking. read more

We got to enjoy lunch outside at the picnic tables. My husband got a chicken. sandwich and I got the hotdog and onion rings from The Filling Station stand right next to it. Both dishes were delicious! They do tend to get packed with a lot of bikers, but that being said they handle service really well. If you're in the area and are looking for outdoor, casual dining. A favorite pit stop for bicycle riders along 9W, this place gets really busy early morning hours, because of all the bikers stopping by. They have indoor and outdoor seatings, serving bakery goods, breakfast, deli goods, pizza and lobster rolls. The bakery items are really impressive, well made bread, croissants, cupcakes, cookies, pastries, and many more items. To me their bakery is the best among all the things they sell. We tried some of their breakfast items. Its mostly eggs, bread and salad style dishes. They are made well and served within a decent time. After a two hour hike in Tallman State Park we stumbled upon a roadside restaurant, a throw back to a time gone by. The 9W Market and Filling Station. From choice burgers to homemade soup, steak, & beer it seemed to have it all. The food was delicious, the service friendly, the atmosphere upbeat & warm. All the bikers come here, which usually isn't a problem but there's ALOT of them everywhere and they are loud, obnoxious and takes the fun out of this beautiful café Super hard to order stuff because there's so many people there, and do not really caring about everybody else's personal space so it made it difficult. I would definitely not come here with kids. Nothing against bikers. I ride my bike around and go to places too but when you're super loud and you're using your rest time as a hang out that just kind of ruins it for the people around you and I just want to enjoy a good meal with loved ones. read more

Awesome place! It's right off the hiking trails so I was worried that since they were the only option the food choices would be phoned in but I'm happy to say that wasn't the case. I would say it's a 4 star experience if it was a regular restaurant, but 5 stars for it's convenient location. My cheeseburger with bacon, onions and mushrooms was great. Fresh quality mushrooms and crispy bacon. My friend got a mini burger which is a great value if you're not too hungry. Both sweet potato fries and regular fries were delicious. I asked for spicy mayo on the side, ketchup at all the picnic tables, classic rock int he background. There's also a cafe serving sandwiches, pastries, and coffee. read more

I'd rate 9W Market four and a half stars. Seems like a go to spot for cyclists. They had five racks for bicycles which could likely fit a total of approximately 50 bikes altogether. We stopped in for a quick bite and to use the restroom. I had an almond croissant. A little small but excellent. It was flakey and buttery. I also had cup of black tea. The tea bash they used were quite good too. They had a lot of brunch options and other baked goods. Outside they have a burger shack. I only noticed one restroom which was gender neutral and I believe was handicap accessible. read more

I can't believe I hadn't written this review yet. This place hosts Motorcycle meet ups and you'll find a bunch of bicyclists too since that road is great for the ride. The drinks are good and they obviously have quite a lot of business. I can only speak for the quiche but honestly that's enough. It's great. It's a large slice, so flavorful, and exactly what you need after a ride (before a longer ride) it's a great place to be able to sit outside or inside with plenty of seating but motorcyclists are generally outside. There is an exceptionally large parking lot for bikes of all kinds and there's even some overflow parking for extra events/cars/etc. The staff is KIND! I cannot believe how patient they are, but probably because their system is efficient that they can get people ordered and moved on so quickly. Overall it's a great place for a meet up- an awesome location for people in and out of the city, and really accommodating ON TOP OF having great food and options for all. YUM! read more

I come here as a stop for my bike ride for a donut and a coffee, it tastes like a dream. The hot food is great too, I am a sucker for their sandwiches. Perfect place to stop for lunch on the way back from Piedmont Pier on a balmy afternoon. Nice outdoor seating (indoors looked good too). Order taker was pleasant and helpful. Food was delicious--crab roll, chicken salad sandwiches with wonderful bread. Crab & lobster roll prices were steep but I'm not too surprised by that, otherwise reasonable for NY metro area, I guess. I visit 9W Market once a week and have had such positive experiences, however tonight I am really bummed out by how I was treated. Their hours are listed to say they close at 9:00, but I showed up at 8:30 to get a brownie, and the workers very rudely communicated they were closed. I asked if I could just get a brownie that was already prepared and sitting in the pastry display, and he very coldly cut me off mid sentence and said "We're shut down". I wish they could have been kinder and perhaps more apologetic for closing early. I loved coming here, and now unsure if I will return. read more
