This was my first opportunity to check out The Accent Shop in its new location after a move from the Nora area. The Accent Shop has been around since 1958 when Dick and Jane Bridgins opted to move out of their department store setting in an effort to bring a more modern style store to the Indy area offering furniture, lamps, tabletop and more. Today's The Accent Shop definitely still focuses on contemporary design, though they have a strong focus on bridal and gift registry items including dinnerware, flatware, glassware, serving pieces, collectibles, jewelry, and a bunch of other fun stuff. This new location is a little more relaxed than was Nora. For the most part, it seems a lot more spacious until you get into the Collectibles area where everything is really packed in. The employees have always been helpful here, though it's definitely in a more reserved way. In terms of accessibility, I'd likely quibble a bit with Yelp's listing that "wheelchair accessible" is one of the amenities here. While it definitely has some of the basics - for example, nearby accessible parking, appropriate curb cuts, and a level to the ground entry - The store itself is for sure a little bit hit-and-miss in terms of interior design. As I noted, this is especially true in the collectibles area where even my small manual wheelchair struggled and had to detour my path multiple times due to far too narrow aisles. I can't imagine a power chair being successful here. That said, the front of the store is vastly superior to the Nora location in terms of space and design. That was nice to see. I also really love the options here. I think the collectibles section bugged me in terms of access precisely because that was my favorite area of the store. From Christmas wares to a surprisingly large (and unique) Halloween section, I was really impressed here. I loved some of the candles. I loved the garden flags. The glassware was awesome. I think my two favorite sections are likely the kitchenwares and the seasonal collectibles. I can easily see myself returning come Halloween. Prices vary. You can sure spend a modest amount here, though there are also some higher-end items. There's something special about a shop that reminds you of the value of in-person shopping. I really enjoyed shopping here and loved the diversity of the items. Overall, I'd easily return and I very likely will during both Halloween and Christmas. While I do wish the layout was a bit more wheelchair friendly, there's an obvious effort here and I'm guessing 3/4 of the store is easily accessible and for the most part going very slowly and with care I was able to see most everything I wanted to see. read more

The Accent Shop is a charming local family-owned gift shop on 86th Street. The shop is filled with Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas gifts and decor. An entire wall is filled with beautiful glassware, perfect for wedding presents. They carry a lot of traditional decor, that is hard to find now. I bought several cute cards. Prices are reasonable. Peg, the clerk, was engaging, helpful and ambassador for the area. (She sent me to the nearby cupcake shop after I checked out.) She also made sure that we had an invite to their upcoming holiday open house. There is plenty of parking in the strip mall lot. read more

This is the shiny, tasteful, well-stocked gift and home goods store that every gift shop should be! Bath, kitchen, dining room, and living room, the store is a fun place to shop. Local Indiana hardwood cutting boards, glass vases of every color, and distinct baking moulds of all forms are here. This pleasant store and their pleasant staff offered gift wrap for our gift souvenirs like our cutting board made of a rainbow of Indiana hardwoods. The prices are reasonable for artisan goods, and sale items were were found throughout, not limited to holiday decor. Definitely get off 465 and come here for the mix of heirloom--but contemporary--and practical home goods. Good luck picking your favorite textile pattern because the variety of nice. The tasteful jazz playing the day we visited was icing on the cake. If you want something that everyone else doesn't have, this is the shop! read more

The Accent Shop has moved from its previous location in Nora to 86th & Ditch. The floor space may be a bit more than in Nora. This business has been in the same family for decades. The owners daughter now runs it. They always have a great selection of Dept 55 items. I collect the Day of the Dead Line. Nice new location. Lots of parking. Always friendly service. read more

I want to say I am thankful for The Accent Shop. In a time of online shopping, I love this wonderful gem of a gift shop where you can touch and see the beautiful objects you are buying. They have a wonderful selection of gifts for all occasions and price points. Their wall of crystal is gorgeous! They have a great selection of serving pieces, paper goods, kitchenware, candles and holiday decorations. It is one of my favorite places to shop and they are always so helpful. read more

I came to The Accent Shop to find a white elephant gift for a Christmas party last year. This is a nice, quaint little shop with unique gifts and items of all kind. You can find something unusual and neat in this shop if you are looking for something different and beautiful for a special someone or a family member. The staff are nice, but I could tell they did not want to be working in the shop, because a couple of them had serious looks on their faces and did not look happy. I was able to find a couple things for the party, so I was happy. I will say some of the items are over priced, but for a shop lime this, you can expect to pay a lot for a particular item. I live in Colorado but have found a special gift shopping opportunty at The Accent Shop in Indianapolis! Not a chain store but a Mom and Pop shop that features carefully selected and hard to find, unusual gifts and decor. I did have a return for a portion of my order and it was easy-peasy to get it done. The man who helped me, Nick was kind, warm and very helpful. Great service from a small shop. My husband was on the hunt for a Wind & Willow dip. Wind & Willow's website listed The Accent Shop as a retailer. We just moved to the area, so he GPS'd the directions and headed out to check their selection. They had a great variety but not the one we were looking for. He inquired further and one of the workers (possibly owners) took down his number and took the liberty of making an order of the particular dip we were looking for. Fast forward to not even a week later and we get a call, letting us know the dip was in store! Our expectations were blown away as this type of customer service is rare to find. This shop has wonderful merchandise and I have followed the store through about 3 moves to different locations. It is so much fun to shop there when the ladies are working. Beware of the man, he may be the owner but he never fails to be rude and condescending. How he stays in business with his snippy attitude is a wonder. read more

Bowl was received broken. theaccentshop referenced their return policy which I was 9 days past and would not exchange or refund me. There was no packaging damage and bowl was never removed from the box. Clearly it was shipped broken and 100% their fault yet they would not even consider my position due to their black and white policy. Terrible customer service. I now have a $35 piece of trash. read more
