One of the first things I saw as I stepped into Silver in the City: a coffee mug with Rose Nylund from The Golden Girls giving me the middle finger. Which was a coincidence, because I actually stopped in to find a new ring for one of my fingers! It was like Betty White knew, somehow. Silver in the City has a lot of jewelry, which is not on their website. I know this because I checked. You have to visit in person to see their collection. They have jewelry in all price points, too -- from around $15 all the way up to $100+. My little ring, which I love, was less than $20. I also looked at some lovely necklaces, bracelets and earrings. This is a great place to get inexpensive but fun jewelry. This is a great place to find Indiana-related gifts, too. You'll find local chocolates and food, wine glasses etched with Indianapolis streets, state park t-shirts, Monon Trail posters, Mass Ave stickers and lots more. There are kitchen goods, wacky socks, toys and gifts for kids, plant-specific things, pottery, handbags, and hundreds and hundreds of other fun things that I didn't know existed but suddenly had the urge to purchase right that minute. There are so many tchotchkes and trinkets, at a variety of price points. The people who work at the store are exceedingly helpful. Well-behaved dogs are also welcome -- I saw at least two beautiful doggies while I was there, who got lots of attention, of course. read more

Truly one of my favorite shops in the city and one I don't frequent because I know my wallet won't be happy (but my heart will be!) I've had Silver in the City bookmarked on my maps since the last time I was in Indy several years ago as a spot I wanted to check out. I wasn't able to check it out when I was here last, so when I was back in Indy this time a few months ago and saw I was walking by it on the map and had it bookmarked, I decided to pop in and see what it was all about. ...and now I'm kicking myself for not having come here sooner!!!!!! This place is SO CUTE! It is bursting at the seams with adorable, beautiful, whimsical GOODIES! There is something for everyone here and this is the perfect shop to shop at if you're looking to add some character into your home and life and DEFINITELY a perfect shop to shop at if you're looking for unique gifts for your loved ones! I love it here so much and I am a big frequenter of cute and unique gift shops in general, so over the years I have come to notice a lot of the same products from shop to shop of these types. Yet, Silver in the City still managed to surprise me in so many delightful ways by carrying SO MUCH - honestly the vast majority of the shop - that I had never seen before! It was so delightful to explore and discover so many unique items. I had a great time here and frankly it was probably a good thing that I was time constrained so could only shop here for 5-10 minutes before I had to go because otherwise I definitely would've bought way more and spent an obscene amount here!! Silver in the City is one of the best places in the city to browse and/or shop for gifts (for others and for yourself!). They have a lot of locally made products or products by independent artists and designers outside of Indiana, as well as cutesy things that are a bit standard for eclectic gift shops. We had stopped at this shop earlier in the weekend and noted that they sold a lot of "gift shop/tourist" items. Many of the products seemed like they were made by either independent designers or small businesses. It had anywhere from jewelry to stickers to gag gifts and books. If Target and Urban Outfitters had a baby, this would be it. I have to be careful coming in here because my wallet is bound to take a hit. From kitchen items, to jewelry, to funny stickers, this place has the perfect gift for someone in your life. Again, like so many places these days, how have I not made a point of getting to Silver in the City until now? It's a fun local gift shop, and when I say local, I mean that with a capital "L". I'm happy that I'm literally across the street every day, and I can find the most offbeat, unique gifts for people in my life. (Or just treats for me!) This place is a great way to be introduced to locally made items, Indiana-themed items, and just cool/different/crunchy stuff! I don't think I can come here without picking something up. I really love the bags from PUP made from old RCA dome materials and Super Bowl banners! I didn't even know that stuff was still floating around! Silver in the City is an adorable shop full of fun gift type items. I'd equate it to an Urban Outfitters minus the clothes but with a huge addition of a jewelry section. As far as the gifts go, you'll find everything that's 'in' right now from mustache items galore, bacon items abound and tiny outfits for squirrels. They have a bunch of special Indiana items, quirky cards, fun books, strange cat items and many drinking accessories. This is such a cute little shop! This is a perfect place to get a cute little present for yourself or a friend. They have a large jewelry section consisting of necklaces, rings, earrings and bracelets. They're gorgeous and usually locally made. They have fun stickers and pins to help flare up any outfit or accessory. The wide variety of gifts range from plants and pot holders to books and journals. They do have quite a few alcohol related items which are fun to look at! This is a smaller store so if there's anymore than 10 people it does feel a little crammed. This place was by far the busiest of the three gift shops on Mass Ave that my wife and I explored. With a name like Silver in the City, she expected it to be more of a jewelry store. When she passed by that section of the store, no one asked if they could help. There was a lot of stuff, a wide variety actually, but the place felt cramped and crowded with a line stretching back from the pay counter like you would see at a department store with kids waiting to see Santa. Either not enough help or enough registers...not sure, but I found the experience difficult to maneuver and actually look at the goods.
