Perhaps that will help, but I can't imagine it will solve all the problems at this place. I lived on the first floor of the historic building. I could hear every word my upstairs neighbor said. I could hear her pee. And when she had parties, which was 2-3 times per week, I couldn't hear anything else. We spent a couple of nights in the movie theater as our TV couldn't drown out the parties. Management would not intercede. Our bill was wrong nearly every month which required constant follow up. We had to pay for several utilities, including heat for common areas. The common areas were kept, literally, at 50 degrees. But we paid a significant amount for it every month. This place had such character, but it was overpriced. Rent plus utilities, parking, and fees cost over $1800 each month for a 1 bedroom. We had poor light compared to the 2nd and 3rd floor and the room was really humid. All my plants died and it took towels 2 days to dry on the rack. The washer and dryer took something like 4 hours to do a single load. Cell phone reception was terrible. Maintenance was slow. You had to haul your garbage through the other building, which was such a pain. It was one of the worst decisions of my life to move here. I will admit we got our entire deposit back (over $1500), which was the only positive.

The units are spacious and quiet, and each one has its own private patio. The kitchen and bathroom countertops are granite and the appliances are an attractive stainless steel. The kitchen sink has a garbage disposal and there is a dishwasher. There is also in-unit laundry for an added bonus. There is TONS of natural lighting in the unit and I can make each room dark just by closing the blinds. The underground parking is a serious bonus as well. There's also an exercise room on the 6th floor with a variety of machines. Management is super helpful and reliable when I reach out to them. One day I noticed there was an issue with the elevators (they wouldn't come when I pushed the button to call them), and by the time I emailed management a few hours later, the elevators had already been repaired. It's about a 4 minute walk to the UW Hospital and is less extremely convenient when going to shopping centers, grocery stores, etc. Also, the parking garage is very easy to get in/out of. Overall this has been my favorite apartment to live in, of any (I have lived in 5). I would recommend it to anyone wanting to live on the west side.

Communication related to the apartments is always clear and timely. Any time I have a question, Jessica or Debbie get back to me immediately--usually the same day. Maintenance requests, whether big or small, are handled immediately as well. Joe, Brian, and the others on the maintenance staff are friendly and professional--and stealth! When they are done with a repair there is no trace that they were there except a friendly note explaining what was done. Tim maintains the grounds beautifully. I love my apartment! It is updated, safe, sunny, and quiet. And it's affordable. I never wonder if I made the right choice. This is home!

Good neighborhood, the apartments LOOK good but, you will find some bad things they have!…read more The worst thing if those apartments 2: 1 Management 2 maintenance guy (tall, skinny, glasses that has never worked anywhere else but there) non diligent at all, and is always sitting in the parking garage, talking with the other maintenance guys. We lived there for 2 years, first year was ok, we didn't mind the bad attitude of the maintenance guy, if we asked for something or some maintenance request, his answer was, " send the request to for maintenance" With management we had a situation of charging over for an extra parking space in the garage , but we didn't mind that either, even though it was affecting our credit score because it was showing bus as delinquent for many months. But as I said we didn't mind any of that bcz we liked the neighborhood and the apartment. Continue.. During fall we found very bad mould on the windows and one of the corners of the bed room also on the living room patio door, we cleaned that, then reported to management, their response was for us to clean that and dry the windows constantly do we avoid the situation, we kind of did what they said on fall, winter came and the mould was bigger and the wood was all rotten, management sent the paperwork for the next year contract, my husband told them. We will continue living there but they had to fix the windows situation and the wood. We ended up being threatened by them, stating we will be evicted if during WINTER we don't leave the windows open all day long to stop the mould growing, the maintenance guy was getting in the apartment no notice and arranging my courtains, damaging them as he liked, and when I said something the manager came back to tell me that I'm not letting him work and that I would end up evicted for that. Middle of winter, contract for next year already signed, what could I do? We lived that year and half, counting the days and waiting for the great moment if leaving that people If after this you decide to move there,,, is in you BTW that mould situation lasted for more than a month, they threatened us, after a couple of weeks we called the city and miraculously the maintenance guy had the time to fix the wood, at least, the mould problem will continue there, those windows are cheap and bad!

She paid $800/month for a 1 bedroom/1 bathroom unit. This included a nice gym, extra storage, a nice pool, and free underground garage parking. The residents were really nice and the apartment manager often nominated a resident of the month and gave discounts off rent for the award. The layout maximizes privacy between the two bedrooms (no shared walls), each has their own en-suite full bath, the apartment has an enormous "utility" room with high cap washer and dryer, kitchen appliances are not "top end" but really good (ice maker in freezer, over the stove built in microwave, cupboard space galore, etc. And then there's the service component. Between Lisa (the manager) who will do just about anything to make you happy (including cat and plant sitting if you need to be gone) to Tim (and crew?) to handle every maintenance detail in a timely manner. And then there the amenities - the pool, the community garden space, the car wash station (fully stocked with car washing and detailing supplies - for free!). We moved here during the pandemic so we've only heard of the legendary "community events" and have not taken advantage of the *no cost to use* lovely community space or the community work-out facility, but hope to some day. We were given an opportunity to early renew our lease at the six month mark for an exceptionally modest $20 per month increase which we jumped at immediately. I can't recommend this place enough. Sadly at this time (end of January 2023) there are no available units, but definitely put this one on your radar for places to watch for availability - you won't be disappointed.

The building is old and in disrepair, many things are falling apart. I had extremely poor sleep when I lived here which took a toll on me. Packages were stolen from the mail room for a while which made me feel a bit unsafe living there. Also, despite the other review saying the location is bike friendly, there are far more units than there are spots on the bike rack and so they periodically remove bikes from the bike rack. Someone locked my bike to theirs before they did this so I couldn't remove it in time, and so they cut my lock and left my bike nearby. I am still surprised nobody stole it. So no, I can't say I feel this spot is very bike friendly either. The location may be cheap but you get what you pay for.

Large bins were put in the parking lots...causing one to have to trudge your garbage down a sizeable parking lot to throw it away. Not only does this trash up the property's curb appeal and make the place look trashy but...walking your trash down is made harder by the fact that they do not do a good job with snow removal. This is also hard on older residents. It may have saved them a little money but...did they need to save that? This leads me to my second point: They've raised the rent by about $300/month since they took over 3 years ago. In addition to that... The snow removal is a joke. Last time it snowed overnight they did not come to clear my parking lot until that night. Do you understand that? It snowed on Monday night and they did not come to clear it until Tuesday night...while we were all home, making noise, not getting it all because the cars were in the lot. Horrible. They require that residents pay for their water when we didn't have to before they took over. No problem, right? Well. The problem lies in the fact that we do not have individual water meters. So, they divide the water cost by the number of apartments and that's what you owe. Problem? What if you're single, like me, and your neighbors are parents with kids? They're using a 4 times more water and YOU are helping to pay for that. Don't get me started on the people who wash their cars in the parking lot and leave the hose running. All I see is MY dollars pouring out of that hose. They've gone through 3 managers in the 3 years they've been here. So, apparently they're no better employers than they are management company. They offer no incentives with lease renewals. We used to be offered a few months free cable or a ceiling fan installed for the bedrooms or a complimentary carpet cleaning. That's gone. The irony, of course, is if they offered carpet cleanings they would have to replace the carpets upon move out MUCH less often...thereby saving themselves money in the long run. Ridiculous business plan. Here's something new: My refrigerator broke. They ordered a replacement. When they came to install it they realized that they ordered the wrong size. SO, instead of reordering and just giving me a loaner from an empty apt or the club house...they raised the cabinets above the fridge to make it fit the height of the fridge. And now my cabinets are noticeably uneven. Unless you have no other choice, do not rent from Katz. Don't live here...but, more to the point, do NOT live anywhere that Katz is the owner. You will regret it. Save yourself the aggravation and having to move again. Because, let's face it, moving sucks. But I couldn't wait to move away from there. I know there can be growing pains when you buy a new property. So, I stayed. For several years. Waiting to see if they'd get their act together. I feel I did my due diligence and gave them a chance. Multiple years worth of chances. They just don't care about their renters. They only care about the bottom line.

Anytime I've had questions, she's been quick to respond and always delightful to work with. The location is prime - close to downtown but not in the middle of the chaos, right across the street from the gym, and within walking distance of many restaurants, stores, spas, and more. My neighbors are also really quiet. I don't have a pet (yet!) but I love that it's cat friendly. I would recommend Executive East over and over again.
