But they work with the kids and my kiddo learns so much with each new class. My child is genuinely excited to see the little friends that have been made! If you do come across a concern staff takes you seriously, and it is resolved. They are always friendly to the grandparents that pick up my kiddo too, and know who they are.

The website says they have won awards for being good with kids who have special needs - they were not good with my son, who was just diagnosed with ADHD. The parent manual says they work with parents if kids have trouble in the classroom. They did not work with us, although the director did tell me that they worked with another child for a year until he went to kindergarten and ended up bringing a knife to kindergarten. It seemed like they favor kids who have been there for a long time or whose parents they know, I'm not sure. They did not appear willing to work with our son's therapist to develop a plan for our son, either. The director told us, "sticker charts don't work." I also didn't feel like they did much "teaching." My son did not do one worksheet during his time here. I did not see any educational work coming home. The children in his class seemed to bully a lot for such young kids. They called our son a cry baby and made fun of him for calling his mom "mama." The teacher is very experienced, but she appeared to be worn out or overwhelmed. The facilities are inviting but seem crowded and less than pristine. On the positive side, I will say that my son had fun with a lot of the activities they did, such as the summer luau. The director is pretty good at communicating with parents, even though I felt that she was either biased or dishonest in her communications with me. Bottom line? If your child is a fairly easy kid, and you aren't too focused on your child getting the best educational environment you can find, this school might work for you. If your kid is hyper or challenging like mine, this might not be your first choice.

Another dad, getting into his car, recognized my feelings and reassured me with a smile and "Don't worry. Pretty soon it will feel like family!" He was right. The Octopus Garden has become all three of my children's home-away-from-home. They feel safe. They are loved. They learn. They have good friends. It's a preschool where manners and kindness are taught along with the ABCs and 123s. It is a very special place, a place that is governed by Love. Now when I drop my kids off at The Octopus Garden, they run in happy! They are greeted with smiles and hugs and everyone is eager to begin the day. Each week they are introduced to new concepts, books, activities and are fed healthy meals. The dedicated teachers at The Octopus Garden have become our true allies in parenting. They are our friends and they do indeed feel like our family. My husband and I are comforted with the knowledge that our kids are being provided with the same care and kindness that we provide in our home. As you can imagine it is not the most ideal (is it ever?) to send a newborn to daycare. They have exceeded my expectations in every way. Every single employee is so pleasant to talk to. Their communication has been seamless. I am not able to physically meet her teachers, but we have had zoom calls and they have an amazing app that they send constant pictures and videos throughout the day. They do such a fantastic job at trying to figure out this whole new norm we are living in. Most importantly you can tell they loveeeeeee the kiddos. Genuinely love and are happy. I toured quite a few daycares and you can tell when employees are not happy. I could ramble on about all the great things, but you get the point. Dallas College is a nightmare. Financial Aid is completely messed up all the time. The schedule…read moreis never correct. Classes that should be there are left off and instructors that left years ago and will not be teaching are still listed. Opt-out does not work after a year of trying to get help through every avenue possible. Emeritus students get dumped 4 times a semester for non-payment when their classes are supposed to be free. The employees are wonderful, but they are not trained and nothing ever gets fixed. Implementing Workday has been a complete disaster and has done nothing but cause problems for everyone. Students will spend hours on the online queue only to get dumped without being helped. Going on campus for services takes hours and one will be shuffled endlessly from one department to another as no one knows how to do anything. Communication is absolutely terrible across the board. Dirty professors like Dr. Andrew Evangelista will put students into dozens of hours that will not transfer, but will exhaust financial aid and may land students in out of state tuition upon transfer. Despite numerous complaints nothing is done to stop rogue professors like him. He was a temporary Music Department Chair and now has been named a permanent one. He added junior level classes that can never transfer and has expanded the music program into complete collapse. Who wants to sing in a choir of 7? Dallas College is a disorganized and chaotic mess. When will the administration and the board start listening to students, paying parents, taxpayers and graduates of the program and making the desperately needed changes?

They make art projects using fingers in shaving cream and use tweezers to grasp small items. Its expensive but what else are you going to do if you have a child with poor handwriting? They have a monopoly on this common childhood problem but thier efforts are not very effective. The old adage, "Practice, Practice, Practice" is the only way to improve handwriting, and they don't teach that rant to the kids like they should.

And refuses to return. None of us are prefect, but I'm private and only one side was heard. Grace wasn't given, love needed to be earned. This church was the final straw and after decades of me searching for God, this Church taught our family that Faith comes from us and not a building full of judges. My kid saw it before I ever did. And that's heartbreaking. Since we left...we coparent and our kids are thriving without having to meet so many moral expectations. So maybe the heights saved us in the end.

My…read morehusband and I love the contemporary 11 a.m. service, but they also have a more traditional 9:30 a.m. service. There are life groups for all ages during the services. (The one I attend is for the 50+ age group at 9:30 a.m., so we can attend 11 a.m., and we love it too. It's called Open Door.) I believe their is a mid-week ministry for young adults, and there definitely is that for kids and teens.
