So let me start right off by saying that lakeside grills like The Anchor are in their own category and I don't directly compare them to more landlocked establishments. You come here for a specific vibe and that vibe does not conform to typical restaurant standards. So do with that information, what you may. The ambiance is probably the best of any lakeside establishment I have been to so far, garage doors open the dining room up to fresh air and sun. The only downside is that the marina building block most of the beautiful view. The menu was full was creative names that make you giggle as you read them. We started the fried floaters (fried pickles) and fried ritos (fried burritos) to start. Both were good the fried Rito's were reminiscent of all famous burrito, although not quite that good still delicious although they were quite large. I was expecting something that looked more like an egg roll and these were full-size burritos so keep that in mind before ordering. For my main course, I had the Tom's classic burger, was a little disappointed as it was less flavorful and a little bit drier than I expected it to be. The fries and everything else were great. We skipped dessert this time. The staff were all very polite and professional, overall I liked this place I probably won't go back just because of the distance. I gave it four stars because of the burger quality. Also FYI, like many lakeside grills, they still allow smoking at this particular establishment so be aware, in case that's something that bothers you. read more

This was a new place for us today. The food was good, the ambiance was great. Ashley H. was our server , we came in the 11:00 am hour. She was slow to take our order. We gave her our drink and food order together. We got our food very late and did not get our drinks (including water)until afterwards. I saw our drinks sitting at the bar at least 10-15 minutes before. I ordered a schooner of beer for husband and it was about 80% full. The rest of the customers got a full schooner.This really irritated my husband because it was Father's day. She blamed it on the "computer system".Sad that one server could do this much negative impact on a restaurant. We tipped way better than we should have, not sure we'll be back based on this server. We paid our bill shortly after eating and it was 12:25pm. read more

Was pleasantly surprised by the breakfast here. It could've been the post hike hunger but everything was pretty good. The biscuits were the star of the show! Loved the pancakes. The breakfast potatoes weren't a fav. I was excited when they said they included the peppers and onion but the potatoes were hard like they were the pre frozen ones, and they just threw the veggies in it. The food is pretty good at this restaurant. On the weekend sometimes they have like a little one-man band, which is usually pretty good singer. We went this past Saturday, but there weren't very many people there. I don't know what was going on, but they did have a little one-man band. That was pretty good. He had a good voice. read more

I'm so sick of these eateries getting away with serving duke on a plate. This place should be shut down based on how bad their food is. Their beer selection is nothing short of a joke. We love going places that we can sit close to the water & this place is definitely there! It has a great atmosphere & everyone seemed to be having a great time watching a game! We had the puppy basket (hush puppies) Monte Cristo sandwich with onion rings & blackened grilled chicken sandwich with waffle fries. We enjoyed our visit & our server was so sweet & helpful. Stopped by for dinner and was seated right away. We had a party of four and everyone enjoyed their meals. The jalapeño poppers were a nice appetizer as they were not spicy and the bacon was crispy. My BLT chicken wrap is highly recommended as the chicken was very flavorful! The wings were good as well! It took a while to get the food but the ambience and the sunset made up for it ! read more

I believe in giving places a second chance. The Anchor on Eagle Mountain Lake made me regret it. The beer selection is about as exciting as the bottled water aisle. If you're expecting a great variety, lower those expectations... then lower them again. The food wasn't much better. The catfish tacos were so overcooked they had the texture of chewing on a flip-flop, and they somehow arrived with no sauce. Dry, chewy, and completely forgettable. My husband's meal showed up nearly 20 minutes before my shrimp cocktail, so apparently "family-style dining" now means watching one person eat while the other waits. Then there was the service. Our waitress was proudly wearing an "It's My Birthday!" ribbon, and judging by the experience, she decided that was the day's only job requirement. Between scrolling on her phone and chatting with coworkers who actually seemed to be working, our bar drinks were forgotten for about 15 minutes. It honestly felt like serving customers was just an inconvenience between conversations. The real disappointment is that this place has such a great location on Eagle Mountain Lake. With the view they have, you'd think they'd only need to avoid messing up the food and remember customers exist. Unfortunately, they managed to miss both. Two visits. Two disappointments. There won't be a third. The view deserves five stars. Everything else was just along for the ride. read more

This place has the makings of being a great place. They need to be more consistent. We went on Saturday at 11am and were given both Breakfast and Lunch menus We went the very next day at 11am and were told no lunch until 12pm. I spoke to the manager and she said because we were there the day prior she would allow lunch. What actually happened was the people who ordered breakfast got their orders twenty minutes before the lunch items. So they slow rolled the lunch items to match what they wanted. Also I watched burgers being delivered to tables around us at 11:40am before we received our special consideration lunch. Oh and there is more We asked to be set on the upper deck and were told that doesn't open until 2pm They took another group up to the upper deck at 11:55am. There was hair in my nachos and the manger was mean when I asked her if I could get a new plate of nachos don't recommend coming here

So excited to review The Anchor: Food - Excellent assortments of both bar food and traditional menu items. I enjoyed the huge spicy Shrimp Cocktail and the farm grown Catfish is bursting crisp and flavorful portions. Home made hush puppies! Atmosphere: Large TVs all around the inside and lines the patio. Very cold A/C when your hot from fishing or boating. Friendly staff and owners! The newly renovated top deck is perfect to watch all the activity on Eagle Mountain Lake. Went this weekend, I know they just opened, food was decent, atmosphere was great, had a great singer playing great music but the Drink Menu was lacking. No Frozen Drinks (sitting out side for a couple of hours def needed some frozen jack and coke on the menu). We will wait a few weeks and try again and maybe by then there will be a new and improved drink menu. read more

A great neighborhood bar and grill. With live entertainment and TV's everywhere to catch your favorite sporting event playing. I was pleasantly surprised by the extensive menu selection. It's your typical bar/restaurant menu. My husband loved his burger...cooked to his liking. Food is always comes out hot, tasty and consistent. Great attentive staff. My only issue was my drink order because each bartender makes thier well drinks differently. I ordered a Michelada that came out perfectly delicious then at the next visit I ordered it again this time it was made incorrectly with the tajin spewed onto the beer instead of on the rim. It didn't taste good at all. Consistency on that front would be great. Overall, a very great place to hang out with friends and eat right after spending the day out on the lake or outing. read more
