A pretty fun place for fun games and rides, and bowling. Today, my granddaughter got to try the virtual roller coaster adventure, and glasses were provided to go on an adventure of several to choose from. She really enjoyed it. There's also an area for dining, and we decided on a hamburger, which was very good. We decided not to ride the go carts or any bowling because we didn't have a lot of time to spend, but it was still fun. It will be great during the summer while trying to avoid the heat. read more

I had no idea that the Apex was a thing or that it had its own check in page on Yelp. We learned about it on my first trip to Red Hawk. It has its own entrance from the casino. And is on the same floor as the Casino. It's really close to the parking garage. The temperature is warmer than the Casino and make it more pleasant. I don't belive you can smoke in the apex. I didn't even see anyone vaping either. Soon as we walked in the Apex we spotted the food court. They have really good deals on food and drink. There is no need to go to the steakhouse or Buffett if you are just looking for a quick meal of burgers or pizza or the like. In Addition this is a quick alternative if you don't want to waste time eating as you are more into playing games or gambling or watching a sporting event. $6 for a beer, $3 for a soda and $9 for a personal pizza. They have tacos, wings, burgers, salads and much more. All reasonably priced. See photo for pricing details. They have a nice looking sports bar with a full bar in the center and lots of tv screens and a giant ticker wraps around the room. They have DJ trivia Wednesday nights at 7pm. They offer hurricane slushy drinks and Kings drink specials. Behind the Sports bar they have virtual golf that looked fun. We saw 2 people playing. They even had the whole set of gloves in a bag. Next time we have to play golf. In the arcade we saw some people having fun in a virtual reality ride. The ride was swinging them all over as they looked thought there virtual reality googles. The arcade has lots of arcade games (like Mario and Harlow, motorcycle and car driving games.), pinball machines, and a giant claw machine. We didn't try any games on his trip. They have indoor Go-cart races that require you to wear a helmet. The track is all lit up with neon lights. It's a pretty big course from what I can see. Six people were exiting the course when we walked by. They were all excited, filled with adrenaline and chattering about the good time they had. Lastly they have a bowling alley, it was pretty big, but not big enough to hold a private event there and have free bowling at the same time. When we were there it was being used by a private event. They have 18 interactive lanes. SUN - FRI UNTIL 5PM | $40/HR PER LANE and FRI 5PM - SAT | $45/HR PER LANE. Pricy, but I think that's still around the price of our bowling alley is back home. Shoe rental is $5 and if they have socks on hand it's $3. This looks like a really fun place to hang out and store your kids for a few hours while you gamble. It is expensive though and all of the machines take their cash card, like the casino rewards card they have a card system so there is no spontaneity when it comes to wanting to play a single game or two. This is how our BlVD is back home in Sacramento and probably how Dave and Busters is so it's not uncommon, but I prefer putting cash in a machine. When you pay cash you aren't committed to using a certain amount or making sure you have the right amount on your card. I really avoid these places do to this. Back in SF you can go to the Musee and it's a cash business. That's more my style. Next time my husband said we're skipping the Buffett and eating here or the steak house. This was my kiddo's first time doing go-karting. We went on Saturday afternoon and booked the junior race for one race ($35). The track looks fun with lots of turns and going uphill & downhill. There were 4 kids with my kiddo during the session which was perfect since my kiddo was still trying to figure out how to do it. My kiddo managed to race 3 laps at the end. read more

I'm torn on this one because well they have a lot going on. I really don't feel like there's a ton of value to be had here unless you hit it on a day where there is a special discount. Four stars is generous given the value proposition here. The games and attractions are on the pricey side, the games don't pay out well, and you end up dropping a good amount of money to leave with a less than awesome item from the redemption store. As far as the space itself, it's super rad. Big, clean, lots to see and do, but again, a small fortune to experience it. We were staying on property and discovered Apex and it made our little arcade going hearts happy even as adults. We love seeing the array of new coin, pushers, and skill base arcade games available, along with the claw machines that had a lot of cool licensed fun inside. We also enjoyed watching people do the VR, but it looked a little too crazy for us. The screens run a series of promotions and we landed there on a game day, which meant five dollar margaritas at the bar and that was well worth it however it was a little bit challenging to get them because the staff was confused as to whether or not it was on, and the sign clearly said any Weekdays where there are games they offer it and it didn't have any other stipulations so I was happy when the bartender eventually honored it. The drink itself was solid. Not too sweet not too sour and it tasted like they use a decent tequila. The arcade games looked good but they did not pay out tickets very well. For 100 bucks we had about 2200 tickets which seems very low considering how much we put through these coin pushers, the number of towers we knocked over and the bonuses we saw that we won. The tickets go very far in the redemption store and frankly, we probably should've had a lot more and I don't understand why it was such a low number. Staff was quick to help with any issues and they were helpful in guiding us into the different options that we had. The space is huge inviting and has a lot to offer with the VR and go karts attached plus the golf simulators, full bar and restaurant food available make this a great stuff if you're on property or just passing through. read more

First Impression: This looks like a good time!! There's neon lights throughout the track and it goes up to a 2nd story. Location: Located inside the red hawk casino. It is attached to the arcade area. Perfect spot to drop off the kids while you go gamble. I mean, it is even perfect for you to stay and play too! Experience: It was a group of 8 of us in total. We purchased our races and filled out the waiver form. They give you your race time and you have to report 10 mins before to do the safety portion. The track was a moderate difficulty level. We went here to see what all the talk was about. I see the signs advertised by the side of freeway all the time. It didn't quite live up to the hype. Everything is pricey, which is expected of a casino. It was $35 for one race per person (unless you had a group and did a group rate). The claw machines used too many tokens compared to the other games. The go-cart racing is three stories tall! You are given a helmet to use when racing. The go carts were not the most user friendly. You really had to put force into making turns with your arms. This is not meant for anyone with a knee injury or limited mobility. The arcade was small but they did have my favorite arcade game there - break the plate. A few of their games weren't working when we visited. The arcade on a different floor (that's more kid friendly) has a better game selection. My favorite part of the apex was the bowling alley. They have a cool lounging area in the front. The bowling balls are designed like pool table balls. They have cubbies at each lane for shoes and bags. The cubbies even have outlets to charge phones! The bowling games have different set ups. There's the standard bowling game and other options. One was points based on how many pins you hit, and everyone in your group gets one roll per turn. The food in the bowling area was good too. The pita bread was amazing! They had a nice selection of food items on their menu. Each bowling lane has an area for food and drinks. Overall it was a unique experience. $35 a race per person. They did have a 3 race deal, but depends on how long you're planning on staying at the casino. This course was lite up and went up to a second level which is different from other courses we've done in socal. The process is the same: Each driver has to sign up and sign a waiver, check in to get your head scarf and helmet, go over safety, the proceed to the track to pick your cart. Overall, it was a really fun time because we were with family. The track has many turns, drops, and incline that made it fun. The one thing i did not like was the staff has control over your speed. The APEX located inside the Red Hawk Casino is a fun place to go spend the day/evening with friends and family. We came specifically to drive the cart racing track. The carts are electric (you ARE indoors) and the track is three levels of curves, hills, dips and sharp corners. It is well designed and the staff are super friendly and helpful. Note to understand - the entire program is controlled for security and safely. If someone crashes or has an issue, the staff will slow (yellow flag) all the carts down, or if there is a red flag situation, they can stop all carts remotely. I like that aspect as it ensures a safe environment for all. They provide the head covers (sanitary), helmets and a neck protector. It's best to go when there are fewer drivers, the staff will give you a call time to show up for your 'race'. We went once in the afternoon when there were a lot of people on the track (not ideal) and then came back later in the evening when it was just five people total on the track (so much more fun). Again, the staff were all super fun to work with and they are there to make sure everyone has a good time. The only reason I can only give 4 stars is that to access the APEX you must walk through the smoke filled casino. The APEX, restaurants and the hotel are all NON smoking spaces. But, to have to take that long walk through the casino to access the APEX was really not good. read more

This is definitely a hidden gem of El Dorado County. We've stopped in to see the Apex when we've been at the casino and it's always been SO busy. My son had a birthday party here a few months ago on a Saturday evening and it was (again) super busy and seemed almost chaotic. We were here today to celebrate our son graduating . Today is a Tuesday and we arrived around 4:00 - 4:30. The place was empty and we pretty much had the whole place to ourselves.... Until the evening crowd started to come in. Our family was the only ones on the karts which was amazing. We did an adult race and a junior race. Our youngest wasn't tall enough to ride yet. The karts are really fun. I would definitely say I'd need more than one race to get the hang of it. We had the cameras on our helmets and the video is awesome to watch. Bowling was really fun and it was our 4yr olds first time bowling. We ordered food and ate it while bowling. The fries were great and my son really liked the pepperoni pizza. I had the steak tacos, our oldest son had the birra flat bread and my husband had the wings. If you get drinks, there are no refills- but the attendant told us to take the cups and fill them up in the casino (someone 21+ of course) because then you get free refills. The virtual reality rollercoaster was a HIT for my family. I'm sure we will be back to ride every option that it has. My tips: wear closed toed shoes for the go karts, bring your own socks for bowling (so you don't have to buy some to go with the bowling shoes), also go on a weekday if you have a family and don't want to feel all the chaos of crowds. If you are looking for kind friendly entertainment but also so fun for adults, this is the place to go. They have bowling, virtual golf and indoor kart racing. The establishment is very nice and the activities are so fun. We did the go kart racing. Thank goodness they are electric cars and the track is 3 levels. A driving go kart session is 7 minutes long and the maximum amount on the track is 12 drivers. The cost is $35 per 7 minutes or $60 per 2 driving sessions. They use electric go kart racing cars which makes hanging out by the tracks so much better than gas powered go karts. Kids can drive the cars but you have to at least be tall enough to reach the pedals. Highly recommend this activity. read more

Hi-ya! Wow this place is really amazing. I guess in July they have sales going so the cart racing was $25/ per person instead of $35 and bowling was $5/ person + $5/ shoes. I have now bowled at a casino! We were visiting my son and it was pouring rain. We needed an inside activity. We decided to go bowling and this is close to their house. I was concerned about the smell of smoke as we exited the elevator as my daughter in law is 8 months pregnant. The casino is to your left and Apex to your right. Once you enter Apex, the smell went away. Apex has go carts and a Vr ride?, arcade and restaurant and of course a bar. They may have more stuff. But we were there to bowl. Attached to the Red Hawk Resort and Casino is this games center that has a similar feel to the casino: tons of multicolor lights, flashing games, and energy in the air. Your options are: BOWLING - We didn't do this because the wait was 2+ hours long, but cosmic-esque bowling that looked fun VR GAMES - They have a bunch of VR headset and regular gaming parlour games VR RIDE - They had this wild looking ride that had 4 seats like a roller coaster - riders wear a VR headset and choose their ride, and the spectators get to watch what they're feeling on the big screen! This looked INSANE and so cool. GOLF SIMULATOR - We were able to get into this right away on a packed weekend evening and had fun with it! ~$50 for an hour plus $15 for clubs. We enjoyed the large space, sofas, bar service, and making a fool of ourselves. GO KARTING - This was booked up until 10:30pm that night and this is walk-in only, so we opted to come back right at 10am when they opened and be the first in line. The track is super cool - ups and downs over 2-3 stories, light up gates, and tons of fun! PRICES Steeeeeep. Like real steep. The VR ride was $15 a person and go-karting was ~$40 per person I believe. If you can get into two things and have 2-4 people, getting a package is a better deal. We had AWESOME service from our bar server Bella, who served us during our golf simulation game, in the bar, and picked up our pizza order from the grill on the other side of the area as well. Don't waste your money at the bowling alley. We bowled there this morning along with a group of seven. On our third game the lane froze up and we lost our three frames that we bowled. After going through four people a guy came over and loaded up the wrong game and told us to start over. In the middle of that our lane froze up again and no one could get it running, I asked for a refund for our lost third game and they refused. We are all league bowlers at this place and now know they don't gives a rat ass if you are bowlers on league. What a stupid way to run a company. read more

My name is Abdel Arostegui, and I'm writing to express my dissatisfaction with the experience I had today, May 3rd, around 10:30 PM during our go-kart session. I was assigned Car #29 for Schedule #162, and unfortunately, the car was malfunctioning the entire time--it kept stopping and wasn't working properly throughout the race. I repeatedly raised my hand for assistance, and while help eventually came, I was left in the middle of the track feeling unsafe, as other karts were still racing and even crashed into me at times. We came as a group of five friends to enjoy the experience together. However, due to the malfunction, I was not able to participate, and the fun was disrupted. I was only offered credit for one person, which does not compensate for the fact that I missed the entire experience while my friends raced without me. We traveled a long distance to visit The Apex, and I believe a full refund or an equal group credit would be the fair and appropriate resolution. Sadly the staff has ZERO knowledge of what is going on. They decide it's easier to pick on somebody they think that will not fight back but they can think twice.! I was minding my own business and got hit by two people and yet they cast attitude with me. If you go back and look at the footage, you can see I was driving lap after lap all by myself having a good time not passing anybody until two people hit me and then they basically turned my car off. And have attitude with me.! What's actually laughable is the staff thinks they have any kind of clout over me. When we were done with our race and pulled in some girl that thought she had lots of authority comes over and says "unfortunately you need to leave immediately" laughable did she think we were going to hang out with her the rest of the evening?! I will be getting a refund from my credit card company since I did nothing wrong and did not get to race the car since they turned it off several times do not recommend you wasting your money here with a bunch of wannabes who have nothing better to do with our life, but think they have some kind of authority over you and they clearly have their eyes closed why people are racing since they don't know who the people are that are causing the problems and blame it on somebody else! read more

The bowling, is just bowling...the approach to the lanes had no glide and our feet kept sticking, and I could not find a comfortable ball. The food was OK as was the arcade...drinks were reasonably priced. Overall, we had a great time. We had the $179 fam of 4 package (includes go-karts, 4 x $10 arcade cards, and 1 hr of bowling), it was worth it. I recommend. I was in a bowling league for a few years back prior to COVID and quit in about 2018 or so. Some of the guys that used to be in that league asked me to join their team because they were moving from 3 players on a team to 4, and needed an extra player. Honestly, they do a good job here. I am not an expert bowler, but everything is clean, the leagues give really good customer service, they have sports on and they seem really organized. There's a good vibe here to make it fun, and it's smokeless, so even though you're in a casino, it's easy to breathe and feel comfortable. I like it! Even the bathrooms are large and clean.
