The one star is for the great therapists at the spa. The absence of the other stars belongs to the owner and her receptionist -- they have the worst customer service skills I have seen in a long time. My mom and I had booked several treatments and were told repeatedly to arrive at 10 a.m. We arrived on time and then were barked at that we were late and told it would cut into our therapy time -- what a way to begin a relaxing massage! The therapists gave us our full time, however, the receptionist and the owner never apologized until I emailed over a week after we left Anacortes. The owner is completely reactionary and does not take responsibility for her staff when they are in the wrong. There is another spa in Friday Harbor -- maybe look there first! read more

My mother-in-law purchased a gift card for this spa so I could enjoy a prenatal massage. I was able to book it quickly and easily without issue. The spa itself was very nice. It had a great ambiance and was very relaxing. They have a steam room that I utilized briefly before and after my massage which was nice. The massage itself was good. I didn't enjoy it nearly as much as expected and as much as I usually enjoy getting a massage but that was at no fault of the masseuse. It was simply because being a prenatal the positioning for the massage was very awkward and I couldn't get into it. I look forward to going back after I deliver for a regular massage. Went to the Apothecary Spa yesterday for brow tinting/waxing with Angela. Was greeted warmly by receptionist. She had actually just hung up the phone from calling me to see if I was on my way. I was five minutes early. As I was only doing waxing and not a massage, I didn't come early to relax in the Sanctuary Room. I was given a tour, nice layout. They do come by their name honestly. An apothecary is a store that sells medical goods, right? There was A LOT of merchandise/spa product for sale at check in as well as art for sale in the Sanctuary Room - - along with multiple menus of product available for purchase. Sales didn't stop there. During my waxing, I was told I really needed a facial. The product she would use is available for sale and would last for at least 6 months. She also said I needed to wax the peach fuzz from my face - only a $10 add-on. During the waxing she asked if I like yoga. Hum, just being conversational? Nope - she started teaching a yoga class and wanted me to know about that opportunity as well. Nothing is more of a turn-off for me during any kind of salon or spa services than heavy handed product sales. Thankfully they didn't ask if I wanted to purchase anything on my way out... As far as the waxing, I've had my eyebrows done many times. She shaped them nicely and the color was good. The waxing itself was a little rough as she caught my eyelids a few times with the wax. That hurt - and I've never had an eyebrow wax hurt. I will definitely give the spa another chance - this time for a massage. I really like to support local businesses, and I've always loved the hotel and its roof top deck in the summer. They understand their customers well. I did hear the spa is under separate ownership than the hotel. I could see the difference in approach and how it was outfitted. read more

I got a massage with Tim and it was honestly one of the best massages I have ever had. I would highly recommend him to anyone and everyone. My only complaint was the common area. While this should have been a place to unwind and relax before my massage, it was the exact opposite. For some odd reason, they allow meals in there. So, myself along with five other people had to sit and listen to two people chew really loudly and clink their forks against their plates. Not only was it not relaxing, it was kind of uncomfortable for everyone else who is not eating a meal in there. I really hope management reads these because they should really change this and leave meals to the dining room. Overall, though, my massage was so good, I couldn't help but give them a 4 star reviews and I will definitely be back. But I seriously hope they make the common area a more relaxing environment. read more

I absolutely love this Spa I have been going here since at least 2007 and it has always been a wonderful experience. The owners are kind and all of their providers are amazing. Most recently I have been receiving acne facials from Angela they have really helped my skin and I appreciate how she doesn't push the extractions to hard which can create scarring. I have done many medical facials and it is so nice to be relaxed and still get the exfoliation my skin needs to reduce my acne. I also really enjoy the eucalyptus steam room which helps to bring out impurity's in the skin and body. This is one of my favorite places to relax and rejuvenate! Cathy saved my life, y'all. I'm not even kidding. This woman can find that knot you didn't know was the source of all your problems and make it disappear. Not only that, but the steam room. THE STEAM ROOM. Give yourself extra time both before and after your appointment because especially in the dreary 45 degree winter spending a few minutes warmed by steam and breathing eucalyptus can rejuvenate you like a freaking vacation. Just got back from a trip to Anacortes with friends for a long weekend and we had a spa day at this delightful place. Upstairs in the Majestic Inn, this is a lovely place to enjoy some pampering; clean, well appointed and very friendly staff. We used the sauna and I had the 90 minute hot stone therapy treatment, followed by wine and a light lunch in the sanctuary room. Perfect Girlfriend's Getaway Weekend treat! read more

Amber assisted me with my mini pedicure while I was visiting the Majestic on 2/13/14. She was very nice and made me feel comfortable. She did a great job, did a scrub massage and lotion massage on my feet & enjoyed chatting with her about the Anacortes area. I was disappointed with my service. I booked a 90 minute deep tissue massage, and what I received was not deep tissue, I'm quite certain my 10 year old could give a better massage. I asked multiple times for the therapist to use a deeper pressure, but she didn't, and she completely failed to treat the target areas that I verbally specified at tHe beginning of the service. I honestly believe that she wasn't strong enough to be listed as a provider for a deep tissue massage. Also, I asked her to make the room warmer, because the room and bed temperature was too cold to be able to fully relax. Had this been my first visit to the spa, I would not come back nor recommend it again. I'm a firm believer in tipping well for great service and this is the only time I've ever left without tipping my service provider. I'm an elite member, and usually the service is phenomenal, but I will not be seeing this massage therapist again. read more

The staff are so friendly and very accommodating. We had the girlfriends package. The massage was amaaaazing! My stiff upper back and hot neck was remedied! Christina J was the massage therapist. She asked if I had any specific issues and areas to focus. I came out very relaxed and relieved! The facial was great, as well. They did a great job for sensitive skin. My face was glowing! We had lunch served there. Great veggie wrap! The price is not cheap. It was $195. Since it has been years since I had a massage, was worth it. I highly recommend this spa! read more

I have had massages all around the world and I wanted to do something special for me and my girlfriend before I left for deployment so, I scheduled a couples massage with Christina and Tim. The spa is very nice, with a peaceful atmosphere as well as being very clean. I would have given a five star review if my review was just on Tim but since my massage therapist(Christina) hardly paid attention to where I stated my trouble areas were. Which are my lower back and neck. I told her I keep all my stress in my lower back and that's my main issue. I felt She mostly focused on my upper back which was not any of my concern any rushed massaging the rest of my body. It Was a wonderful upper back massage but that was not what I needed. On the contrary Tim did a outstanding job on hitting every point of concern for my girlfriend. I would highly recommend Tim to a friend. You definitely can tell which one of the two enjoys there job and which one just does it to make money. So ultimately for the Price I paid I would NOT recommend Cristina. read more

Surprised that I'm the first review - because I had the most wonderful massage here! On vacation and came in for some much needed relaxation. Staff is friendly and welcoming. The sitting area where you wait for your service is nice and calming and there is water and some kind of snack mix (didn't try it) available. I had a deep tissue massage with Beth, I would highly recommend her! It had been a while since my last message and she found all my little knots. She was very professional, asking me about my problem areas and she checked in with me to make sure the pressure was ok. I'm a fan of deep tissue massage (Swedish just doesn't cut it for me anymore) and I have to say Beth was one of the best. My only complaint about the spa in general was that there were no private changing rooms in the locker room... or at least I couldn't find them if there are. read more
