Some attractions sell an experience. Some sell a product. The Apple Barn Cider Mill somehow manages to do both. What started as a simple stop turned into one of the more enjoyable experiences of our trip. The star of the visit was our guide, who took us on a cider journey through the various flavors and offerings. She was friendly, knowledgeable, patient, and genuinely seemed to enjoy what she was doing. She answered questions, explained the differences between the ciders, and made the tasting experience fun instead of feeling like a sales pitch. And since there's a chance she might somehow see this review: Happy 40th Birthday! Sorry I forgot your name, but your hospitality certainly wasn't forgettable. Now let's talk about the cider. Excellent. There was a large variety of flavors available to sample, making it easy to compare styles and find a favorite. Whether you're new to cider or consider yourself a seasoned enthusiast, there's enough variety here to keep things interesting. After sampling our way through the lineup, we wound up purchasing a glass of the original apple cider and enjoyed it outside. And honestly, that's where the experience really came together. Sitting outside with a fresh cider in hand, playing cornhole and Jenga, enjoying the atmosphere, and slowing down for a little while made for a genuinely relaxing afternoon. No rushing. No crowds pushing you along. Just good cider and good company. We also picked up a growler to bring back to the hotel because one thing became very clear during the tasting process: leaving empty-handed would have been a mistake. The Apple Barn Cider Mill does a great job creating an experience that's welcoming, fun, and memorable without feeling overly commercialized. Great cider. Great staff. Great atmosphere. Five stars. I want to be negative about this massive tourist churning establishment right off the parkway, but I really can't say anything bad about it after I brought my very picky Ohio in laws here for lunch & they loved it. We came for a late lunch around 2 on the weekend after Christmas, it was surprisingly not busy & we walked in. Our server Chris was on top of his game & patient with our party of 5 & while we browsed the menu for a bit brought out the complimentary apple fritters & juice as soon as we were seated & was really kind enduring my FILs joking during the meal with a smile & quip here or there. I had the bbq chicken wings which is not something I'd usually go for but they looked good & they really were. They were big & had a nice crunch & they sauced them WELL. Fries were solid also. My mother in law is a lady fond of few dishes & one of them is chicken salad. She gave the one here high praise. She also really enjoyed the birds in the case in the dining room. If you've got a large group or picky northerners I think you could do a lot worse than coming here. read more

We had a great visit to the well-known and highly recommended Apple Barn & Cider Mill when we were in town recently. I specifically enjoyed the restaurant, which had amazing quality and quantity of food for the price, complete with multiple freebies like apple fritters and their signature applewood julep drink with the meal. I wish we had saved even more time to walk around and experience their shop, bakery, winery, and ice cream parlor - but we stopped by several locations on site and were enamored with the incredible smell of baked goods, hometown orchard gift shop feel, and feeling of being in the country in the middle of a busy tourist area. We'll 100% be back for some goodies next time we're visiting! read more

Loved purusing through the store, trying some apple cider donuts, ciders, and bought some apples to go (they had some varieties I had not seen before). Service was very friendly here. The Apple Barn & Cider Mill is definitely worth checking out if you are in the area. Such a charming place with a beautiful landscape. We didn't plan to stay and explore everything too long. We primarily came here to pick up an apple pie. The apple pie was so delicious and we are glad we decided to get one from here. The service was very friendly as well. We checked out the general store and there are a ton of interesting things for sale. There is also a cider bar/house, candy store, winery, ice creamery, and restaurant area. The Apple Barn isn't just a store or restaurant, it's an apple attraction. Perhaps, the Disneyland of apples. They have a restaurant, a store, a winery, a bakery, a candy store, and cider house. This is a busy spot! We visited on a Monday morning so we were able to find a parking spot. I'd imagine that you need to come early on weekends. The shop offers a great variety of fresh and packaged apple products. They have ciders, butters, boxed mixes, cheese, and gift items. You can also buy a variety of fresh apples. We purchased several types of cider that were all very good. We enjoyed the regular apple, cherry apple, and apple peach. When we visit next we'll be stocking up on this. The winery had a nice variety of wine options, not just apple wines. They have a tasting counter and a shop with wine gifts. The bakery has apple dumplings (delicious), apple turnovers (delicious), and more. The baked goods would be best enjoyed right away when they are fresh and hot. The candy store has typical packaged candies and a case of fresh chocolates. The kids will love stopping here. The property has some tables around. You could really take your time here and hang out for awhile. If you've just traveled in, they have restrooms in the middle of the outdoor area. The Apple Barn is a must stop in the Gatlinburg area. Bring a cooler if you'll be out and about after your stop. You don't want to miss out on the ciders! read more

When in for dinner with my family of 7. The view was nice. Waiter was nice. Food was horrible. I ordered the grilled chicken and it looked like it came from a bag. It was mushy. The only thing that was hot/ warm was okra that we ordered. And to top it off the table next to us the air vent started leaking. It was a mess. Will not go back. I spent over 200$ . Ample parking for restaurant and shops. We were quickly seated. We ordered sodas and water. We were given the complimentary apple fritters and apple julep. We ordered the chicken fried steak with brown gravy and Mac and cheese, children's chicken nuggets and Mac and cheese, chicken pot pie (it was large however the crust was only on the top and stuck to the bowl with collard greens (vinegar overwhelmed them), meatloaf with green beans. All adult meals came with mashed potatoes and potato soup. All food was okay. We have been here dozens of times and this was an okay visit. Nothing spectacular. Will come again. read more

Massive portions! Massive restaurant! Fabulous service and flavors! Be prepared to wait but they text you so you can wander the property and explore all the fun shops with lots of APPLE themes. We tried a variety of dishes and the chicken and dumplings was creamy and delicious. The chicken pot pie was so yummy but I wish there was more crust on the bottom of the pie as well. The open faced roast beef was a big hit of warm comfort food. The chicken salad sandwich was fresh and a light meal and the fried chicken was the real deal! Second visit. 2.5 actually, long wait, for cafeteria type food, on old red plastic dinnerware! Had the country chicken salad it was okay, but not anything special. The others in my party, were disappointed in the crowded, loud dining, all said food was bland, and they were very disappointed. Said Cracker Barrel is better. They wanted to try,they saw the reviews! Truly do not understand the hype. Our first visit,early Thanksgiving dinner, 3ish, hubby and I waited outside for about 20 min. Again bland food, served on that horrible red plastic dinnerware! Just put on the plate sloppyly no garnish terrible presentation! Veggie soup tasted like they just opened cans! Yesterday wasn't our first visit to Apple Barn, but it had been several years since. It was still just as good as we remembered. We were seated immediately and they brought out the usual Apple fritters, Apple butter, and julep (Apple juice, orange juice, & pineapple juice). I ordered the Cajun Grilled Catfish with fried okra & cornbread sausage dressing. It also came with a cup of soup, & I went with the broccoli cheddar. My husband got the country fried chicken, Mac n cheese, and mashed potatoes & because he didn't want soup, they gave him a choice of a 3rd side, so he chose pinto beans. Service was fast and the food was great, as usual. I was a bit disappointed in the dressing because it barely had any sausage in it & that was why I wanted to try it. Oh well, not a big deal. No room for dessert, but after eating & going through the gift shop, we eventually made our way over to the creamery, one of the buildings on the property with the restaurant. I got a small cup of the Bear Claw (peanut butter & chocolate ice cream with chunks of brownie) & my husband got the Georgia Peach ice cream in a waffle cone. Both were very good .. maybe not as good as Cold Stone Creamery, but we ate every bite. If you've never tried The Apple Barn, you need to stop by - the food, plus the experience .. totally worth it. read more

Charming little touristy place with basically every apple-themed item you could want. Not especially little kid friendly due to how fragile everything is, but that's not their problem! There's a little shop where they sell dessert wines and brandy. The attendant there was especially odd. Not really interested in making anyone feel welcome or providing a comfortable customer experience. I understand they've probably got all sorts of folks coming in trying to get as much free alcohol via samples as they can. But I've never felt so unwanted while engaging with the normal function of a wine seller. Literally everyone else was great except this one person. Anyway, we're one-and-done with this place.
