    Grabbing lunch

Cute little shop/cafe. Stop by for lunch, we tried the buzzard bites w/fries and burgers, both were pretty good. Of course we also had dessert, they ran out of apple pie and we didn't have time to wait 20 mins for the next one to be ready so we decided to just try the apple cinnamon ice cream. It was very tasty, not overpowering. It tasted like Christmas in a cone. They make their pies and other baked goods right inside the shop. Only outdoor seating to eat, can get pretty warm. The shop is filled with of course the baked goods, but also apple butter and other boutique items.

We come for the 4 lb Apple pie ($24.99) and sometimes the other baked goods. They often sell apple trees also. Employees are extremely friendly and this time they had multiple signs asking that you wear a mask. Once you walk in, you will buy something made of apples because the smell of apple cinnamon will easily convince you to part with your money. They also have many other apple products such as jam and even apple-themed home decor. We took the apple pie home and they gave us some instructions -- 375 for 30 min. This is accurate and creates a delicious crust.

My family lives in San Antonio and we thought our trip to The Apple Store was worth the drive. Opposite of the Apple Store you'd find at the mall, the store has a quaint, homey vibe. However, don't be fooled by its small size because it has so many apple products on the inside from canned apple products to apple-themed souvenirs... Stop by at the right time and you may even be able to purchase a freshly baked apple pie right out of the oven! The Apple Store also has a small restaurant serving your most basic diner food as well as some apple-flavored foods. The only reason I'm docking a star from my review was that they forgot some parts of our order when cooking and serving our food. My favorite part of The Apple Store was the apple-flavor soft served ice cream! You're allowed a small sample to taste by itself or before you eventually buy yourself an ice cream cone full of it.

With that name I'm surprised they haven't been sued; maybe the tech giant out in Cali has a heart after all. Anyway, this is an early stop on our Twisted Sisters adventure. Been here twice. Unique blend of apple related products, food, and kitschy decor for your home. Front of the business is mostly merchandise while the back is well stocked with food items. If the apple pie (HUGE BTW), cider, cookies, ice cream isn't your thing they have a dedicated food trailer and small covered patio in the back serving burgers and the usual suspects on the menu. Food always smells good, but we usually just left Kerrville and will eat later in the day. I have sampled a cookie and purchased a drink for the road here. Cookie was quite good! Maybe I'll skip breakfast next time for a huge slice of pie in Medina on my next adventure. Also, dwarf apple trees are for sale in the front before you walk in. Would love to have one in my yard; just won't fit in any of my small convertibles lol. Small tree still probably weighs 50lbs. Sorry, gotta save weight when slicing thru the curves out in the Hill Country! Prolly don't get too many tree sales from the bikers either lol.

The Apple Store has the best coffee we've ever had. We make the drive to restock as often as we can. Their Apple ice cream is always a delicious treat.

It's pretty much a straight drive. It quite a ways down the road but just keep going you'll get there. The owners were so friendly. It's really refreshing when the owners come over to your table and really talk to you. They asked us how we heard out their restaurant, where were we from, gave us food recommendations, and were so sweet. Everything served is 100% made from scratch including their famous sourdough bread. The eggs are from their own chickens and the bacon & sausage comes from their own pigs and it was a just fabulous!!! You have to order the bacon...to die for!! I never really order anything to drink besides OJ at breakfast but for some reason I decided to try their grapefruit juice. OMG!!! I've never in my life had anything like that juice!! It was some special type of grapefruit but I can't remember the name of them. It was fresh squeezed & unbelievable. I could've just had a few more glasses of that and been happy lol. It was a deep yellowy-orange, almost the color of OJ. My hubby & I ordered almost the same thing, french toast (made from their homemade sourdough bread), topped with fresh fruit, 2 eggs (mine scrambled, his over easy), I had bacon, he had the sausage crumbles. Holy Moly!!! Just deliciousness all around!!! We bought a round loaf of jalapeño cheddar sourdough to take home and not only was it delicious but it was enormous! If I could make just one suggestion it would be: I did not like the restroom situation. There is only 1 restroom, which is perfectly fine, but there are 2 stalls inside. While I was in 1 stall a man came in and was using the stall next to me. I felt very uncomfortable. Maybe put a lock on the main door so that nobody else can come inside while you're in there??? But other than that we had a fantastic experience. I highly recommend going there if you love great food. Next time we'd like to try lunch or dinner. To the owners: "Thank you so much, we can't wait to come back!"

You can't just show up without calling first to make sure trees are still available, and if you're hoping for one of those big, fluffy, picture-perfect trees, you really need to go the day they open, or at least within that first week. My family and I have been getting our trees from Pipe Creek for five years now, and every year it's the same: the best trees go fast. We don't live in a state where these trees grow abundantly, so the full, fluffy ones are always the first to go. I actually plan ahead and don't work on opening day, and I always get there at least 15 minutes early. Last year was wild for us, and we ended up going a week late. I already knew the tree I had envisioned would be gone, so we compromised and picked something a little smaller than usual. And honestly? We still loved it. We love this place and enjoy the experience every single time. Today is opening day, and I'm so excited to head out and pick our beautiful tree!

I had no complaints; even the dirt road on the way to the farm was fun and brought a different level of experience. It wasn't too far only about 30 mins outside of city limits. Pumpkin Patch, flower field, apple cannon, kettle corn popcorn, slides, the corn maize of course, and tons of other activities for the whole family. We also love the live music. Sadly this year we had our first major bad experience with the staff. So Hope and David.. this is for you who offered no apologies, no sense of understanding, and who encouraged us to take to the internet to express our dissatisfaction. We found ourselves lost in the corn maize, and our older boys (age 12 and 15) forged ahead to help us and a group of other families find our way out. They got ahead of us so we did not see fully what happened but we walked up on a female employee, Hope, cutting off our boys bands and sticking white hand on them letting the world no they are no longer welcome inside the corn maize for the rest of our day. We come to find out the boys saw the next marker to help us out and they stepped over some yellow caution tape in an open space to get to it and back track to help us out. But Hope was essentially hiding in the corn, and gave no warning, no offer for assistance, and no human decency towards our boys and instead immediately punished them. When we confronted Hope, she admitted that this was the most difficult part of the maize but continued to give me no apologies or any sense of respect or customer service when explaining the boys were now banned from the maize. Then she audibly huffed in annoyance when we did not allow her to take the boys from us and had to escort our whole group out of the maize. From there David, a manager was brought down from a cherry picker over seeing the maize and proceeded to treat us in the same cold and unapologetic manner. To top it all off he could not truly weigh in on the situation because he was on his phone while "watching" the maize. Overall we were extremely disappointed to be treated so poorly and without any decency from these two employees, Hope and David. We never received an apology, a crumb of understanding, or any politeness. We understand our boys disobeyed a rule, but they did not destroy any property, were not rude or disrespectful to anyone, and were just trying to be helpful and take the lead in helping our family out of the maize.
