We stopped for the ice cream and was a treat! Lots to choose from banana splits to sundes or maybe a nice scoop of rockyroad. The ice cream is good quality and the staff is friendly. Souvenirs and candy treats can be found through the store. Historic building built over 100 years ago and used to be the Old Cox Dance Hall. Original floors and ceilings gives that old time rustic feel. Great spot on a hot day to cool your heals and enjoy some treats. Stop by Bandara the Cowboys capital of the world and see the shops on main and the historic places and stop by the Bandara General Store.

Suggested to us by the Sugar and Spice Ranch, I would not have even thought of stopping. You can't not come to Bandera and skip this gift shop. They have everything when it comes to souvenirs. Plus the old fashioned ice cream parlor is a big plus. We loved it on this very hot afternoon!

Fun little tourist trap with all the usual goodies one finds at a Texas souvenir shop. The thing we liked best and what we ended up getting were the walking sticks. Hub got a nice one of local wood. I got one that was turned on a lathe. Come to find out, it was from the owner's private collection. He got it in London. He had the full story on it. I loved visiting with him and talking about the store. Take some time to drop in and chat. It's a good time.

We ordered a burger with only bun, cheese, and patty. Waited in the drive thru line for roughly 30 minutes for a drink, fries, burger, and medium blizzard. After all that time, the blizzard was half unblended and the burger had all veggies, yet no cheese on it. I immediately left an online complaint through the survey on the receipt. I just planned to call for a refund as soon as I wrapped up my weekend night shifts, if they didn't reach out to me first. However, when I called less than 72 hours after the initial transaction and spoke to their manager, he rudely said he "cannot and will not refund" the money as I haven't brought the food back to the store and didn't call within 48 hours. I apologized and tried to explain that I didn't know about a time limit, I live far away, and the 48 hour limit had just been passed. I understood that I had messed up by not knowing the company time limit and stuff, so I hung up after he was very rude the entire talk. I then remembered I made the online complaint the day of and hoped maybe he would be kinder if he knew I tried before. I called again, but he was even ruder the second time. The interaction was horrible, and I still won't be getting my refund from them. TL;DR The fries we could eat were mediocre, tasted slightly greasy unless doused in ketchup, blizzard was half blended, every topping we didn't want want on burger was there, yet no cheese in sight... very rude manager/customer service. Never again!

Onion ring on top of a bacon BBQ burger. Hit the spot. Guests had the Country Fried Steak and Country Fried Chicken (they LARPED small town Texas on this trip). They enjoyed but didn't say it was amazing. The service and staff was (very) friendly and courteous but... 1) When we go sat, no one gave us cutlery. Even after the appetizers arrived we still hadn't gotten any. It took asking twice. And trust me the gap between sitting, asking 1x and then asking again was about 25 mins. At least. Our actually server recognized this and was apologetic (I think he got triple sat on a Friday night). 2) Our actual entree order was *probably* never put in originally because it took 50 minutes (and people who say after us ate and got dessert in the meantime) and when it came out it was hot. Which means it wasn't sitting around. Again our server recognized this and was very apologetic. Despite that, I'd go again. Vibe was perfect small town Texas and food hit the spot.

The Texas toast was fragrant, and the flavours of the sandwich blended very well together. My cousin got the fried catfish platter, which didn't have much of a flavour, but he said that means it's a river catfish. He is a catfish connoisseur and liked it. The jalapeno hush puppies that came with it were excellent. However, the coleslaw had a very odd flavour, and neither of us liked it. It tasted acrid to me. I didn't really like the fries because of the seasoning, but I still had a few. The server initially gave my cousin water instead of the sweet tea that he ordered. They served us our water and sweet tea in mason jars, which looked very nice, but the water was not pleasing to my taste buds as it tasted like unfiltered tap water.

I had a mushroom swiss burger and onion rings with ranch...so yummy. Cons and the reason for the 3 stars...There weren't any clean tables and the menus were dirty...we saw that there was only one guy seating, getting drinks and serving. I'm guessing he was also the cook, because it took an hour and a half to get our food. Another guy showed up near the end of our meal and was helping take orders. They were obviously short staffed, but I was proud of the guys...they were hustling.
