Dee lish us. Ive been here for dinner and Sunday brunch. Both were excellent. The eggs Benedict was expectedly good. Even the potatoes were tasty. I started with the fried chicken skins which were breaded and fried. Additionally, they were drizzled with a spicy and sweet honey drip. For dinner, I had blackened shrimp pasta with peas and cheese. Stunning meal. And sourdough bread is to die for. They sell it for $7 a loaf if you want to bring it home. read more

My glass of red wine had floating scum the size of a poker chip. Informed the waitress who saw nothing wrong, explaining that the residue was related to the 'barrel' in which the wine was stored. Two of us ordered pork belly which was 95% fat. The strip of pork was so tough that chewing was impossible. Informed the waitress, who removed the plates silently, no apology, no offer of other menu items. The 'manager' stopped by, acted incredulous, and walked away, The bread and salted butter was pretty good. Do not waste your time or money going to this place. read more

Food was great, the service was awesome and our server was super attentive. We brought our kids and they had the buttered pasta which was a perfect portion. The short ribs and halibut were delicious. The only thing I wish there was more of was the shrimp cocktail; it was so good but only 3 pieces. If you sit outside they can only provide plastic cups for drinks but it was fine. Stopped in on Saturday afternoon and with the exception of a couple local folks sitting at the bar my son and I were the only people in the restaurant. The fried chicken skins has an appetizer were very good. Outside of that our meals were less than special and I believe the crabcake had maybe one piece of lump crab the rest was like a giant dough ball very disappointed. Usually I would've said something but we were exhausted from being in town on business and I didn't want to deal with it. We had had Easter brunch previously and it was excellent and we had delicious Bloody Mary's. We went this previous Easter and it seemed like a notch less. My family used to love the Arlington and ate there every summer. Last night we had an awful experience. The host never mentioned when I made the reservation on the phone that they don't accommodate parties of 11 or that we'd have to sit at different tables. We had to split up the group and sit at two adjacent but separate tables, meanwhile there was a table of 12 or 13 seated nearby not too long after we sat down. The manager, Sarah, came out and did nothing at all to rectify it (at least comp one appetizer! That goes such a long way). She never even came back to check in during the meal. So that spoiled the beginning of the evening, but the food was terrible! The crab cakes were basically inedible and everyone else thought their food was either bland or just meh. Some of the apps were decent, but those took 45 minutes to come out! And one of our tables got their food about 15 minutes before the second table, so we were basically treated as two separate groups instead of one at two tables. Come on! This is a minor thing, but when we pulled up to the restaurant to park, we couldn't because the owner's truck (we figured it was his because the license plate read Daymark, the name of their other restaurant) was taking up two parking spots, which meant we had to find street parking. Again, not the hugest deal, but kind of a dick move! Only good thing I have to say is that our waitress did a good job. That being said, we're done with the Arlington. read more

All good things to say about The Arlington. We went on a night where they had an exclusive beer event (Other Half) so the place was extra busy. Luckily we used Open Table to get a reservation the day before. The waitress was very accommodating and patient with our 4 year old. The bread and butter they bring to the table was excellent... warm, soft inside, crisp crust, salty, delicious. I had the double cheeseburger with house made bacon which was cooked perfect. My wife had the crab cakes which were good but maybe a touch too much of lemon. We also ordered a side of me bacon mac n cheese the breadcrumbs and house made bacon chunks give it great texture and savory flavor. We will be going back next time we're in LBI. read more

My first visit to The Arlington and we had a party of 6 and LOVED that they took reservations unlike so many on the island do not. The bar was amazing. The drinks- fantastic. I really love this place, I have been there for dinner a few times and we hosted our rehearsal dinner in the back room in September, and it has never disappointed. Even during the off season this place is busy for dinner (we've gone in April and in late September), so a reservation is definitely recommended, but usually not that hard to get even if you call earlier that day for a dinner rezzy. The bar menu is amazing and they have some of the best cocktails on the island (Mother of Dragons is to die) and a great beer selection. The salmon was amazing and I cant say enough about how much we all enjoyed our meals. I will say that my sister is vegetarian and besides the sides and the apps there was really only one option for her as a main, I guess with such superb options for us omnivores I expected a little more of a selection. My husband and I searched all over the island for a place that would host a small-ish rehearsal dinner in a private room, and this was honestly the best option, Paul was easy to work with and accommodating and the day of service was seamless. read more

My husband made reservations for my birthday dinner. We have been to the Arlington many times over the years, but we always sat at the bar, had great apps or equally great happy hour items. I was "over the moon" with his choice for my surprise dinner! We went all in, getting the calamari and the special of scallop crudo, what great starters! We then had the braised short ribs, and OMG...the pan seared skate, which was so tender, perfectly cooked, and beautifully plated. And...the final piece of this culinary puzzle..a flourless chocolate cake, unbelievably delicious and decadent. We were so pleased with everything, from start to finish, the service, the unique beers that my husband thoroughly enjoyed, the "mocktail" for me, just as enjoyable, and the culinary prowess of the chef!!! We came here for dinner, with a reservation. We were seated promptly. The menu options are a bit fewer than most restaurants, which I knew from having perused the menu online before arriving. I wondered if the waitress might come to the table and tell us about specials, but there weren't any. That being said, I felt the options were varied enough to satisfy most diners and all four in our party found an entree of interest. I detract a bit because although pricing is similar to restaurants offering bread for the table and salad or soup with entrees, neither of those were offered with meals. The waitress was courteous. Our appetizers of blackened wings and calamari came to the table promptly. The wings came with a white dipping sauce and were very tasty. The calamari were crispy and drizzled with a remoulade. Our meals arrived in a timely manner afterwards and came to the table hot and appetizingly plated. The interior is traditionally and tastefully decorated, if slightly on the darker side. read more

Visiting my parents we went out and tried a place none of us had visited before. I've been by the place many times and it always looked nice. We got ourselves a reservation, wasn't needed but why not, right? The place has a bar and restaurant. The bar was pretty busy, but the restaurant was slower. We were seated promptly and ordered our drinks. They have a good selection of craft beers as well as cocktails and scotch. The menu is very good. There were about 4-5 different things I wanted to try, but my mushroom/fungal allergy was keeping me from a few things. We looked at the raw bar first, but decided on the steamed clams appetizer. They are served in a cream sauce with house made bacon and potato wedges. It's basically a New England clam chowder with them clams in the shell. My father and I thought it was one of the best dishes we had in a long time. We all decided on sandwiches for dinner. My dad got the lobster roll with fries. He said he wanted to come back tomorrow for another one. My mother and I grabbed the double cheeseburger with house made bacon. It came an a brioche bun, with lettuce, onion and a thousand island dressing. It was a bit messy, extremely juicy and tasted wonderful. In fact my mother who hasn't not brought home a doggy bag in decades ate her whole burger. It also came with fries and we both got the Mexican street corn as a side. The corn was wonderful and I highly recommend it. Roasted corn with cheese and a lime wedge. I finished up with The Shake for dessert. It's vanilla ice cream with milk stout and bourbon. Let the ice cream melt a bit and it's a great treat. Beautiful place, wonderful food and helpful staff. Everything you could want. read more

Happy Hour oysters were nice size from Delaware Bay. Mussels were tasty and a lot of them. The broth was bread worthy. The swordfish was fresh and the sauce was delicious. Had the breakfast burger. Hamburger, pork roll, cheese, and sirrachi ketchup. Very tasty and cooked perfectly. Fries were a bit over cooked, but still tasty. Pizza Thursday is awesome. Get the Mushroom pizza and Margarita pizza. The pasta dishes are awesome. Fresh past and generous portions. The Calabrian pizza is lit with just the right amount of honey! read more

My wife and I had been here a few times since they opened and we were big fans, specifically for happy hour. Good craft beer, good selection of apps and dollar oysters. This last visit turned us off for good. I don't usually write reviews but this last visit compelled me. We got in just as happy hour had started and ordered beers and some oysters and mussels. There were only 3 groups of two at the bar and one arrived right after us. We waited 45 minutes for the oysters which came out on a tray of half melted ice. The other couple who seemed to be regulars got their food 20 min before us. When we finally said something to the bartender (a trainee it seemed) he asked our original bartender Alycia who could care less and blamed the kitchen. Needless to say we cancelled the mussels and paid the bill. I was obviously upset and no apology was given and in fact we were almost made to feel bad for asking. This place obviously caters to people on vacation and they seem to not care at this point being the only game in town. read more

Very unfortunate because I was excited to see a new place move in there - and also since there has long been a shortage of high quality beer on LBI, especially in the American micro arena. The problems here begin with the horrible staff. It's been a long time since I've seen such a rude and unfriendly group of bartenders and waiters. Plus, the owner(?) sat at the table beside us, acting like some kind of a big shot. The food was mediocre at best. The mussels were okay, but my wife's sandwich was far too heavy and generally unappetizing. We'll visit again, but it's hard to expect much after our first trip. Went here last night based on some of the yelp reviews and a Philly inquirer review and was sadly disappointed. The ambiance was beautiful with a rustic, yet charming, cozy feel and the service was very good. However, the food just missed the mark. Poor execution I believe is the issue, not lack of creativity. Expansive menu that could be amazing if the kinks were ironed out of the dishes. Had the following and would rate on a scale of 1-10: Drinks - 6 (not bad but wish they had provided a flavor profile, one drink was sour and party member didn't expect it-especially when it has berries in it) Meat & Cheese Board - 5 (beautiful presentation, but lacking. For $16 expected more than 2 pieces of cheese and 4 tiny slices of meat) Entrees - 2 (2 party members had seafood paella and the rice was mealy and overdone, and needed basic seasoning, the seafood was overdone and dry as well. I had pad Thai which was a decent sized portion but oddly flavored. Other party member had pork chop which was moist, but side was also oddly flavored. Seems like the chef was trying to match new and creative flavors, but completely missed the mark) Overall, sadly I will not be returning. I would give the ambiance and the service 5 stars, but the food just fell flat. read more

I have been here twice now, and enjoy it! I love the cozy, but large atmosphere! I could picture hunkering down here during a storm with neighbors! So the last 2 times, I have ordered the Korean short ribs. I enjoy them, but are a little on the salty side - coming from someone who LOVES salt! BF got the burger, and the 1st time said it was on his Top 5 list, and still seemed to enjoy it (maybe not as much though), this time around. Fries are hand-cut goodness, and the bacon is really good - they sell it for takeout! I hear the BLT is super, but unfortunately, only on the lunch menu, and I don't think they bend on that rule! This is a really interesting restaurant. It's easy to write the story line: zealous young people from the big city take over a beautiful old country restaurant, sink in money to make it even more beautiful and create an exciting modern menu that will make their establishment a destination for other young people from the city. (Disclaimer: I like totally just made this up.) To get a sense of the Arlington, you might want to read the posts on https://www.facebook.com/arlingtonlbi , which announce events as they're popping up. In particular, look out for Tap Takeovers, nights when all the draft lines are taken over by a single brewery. On those nights, you'll be able to sample many beers that are otherwise hard to find on draft. This project is pretty much a success! The beer menu is fantastic and already makes the Arlington worthy of a detour. I ended up with the Allagash American Wild Ale and was delighted with this choice. Quite a few wines are available by the glass as well -- there's really something for everyone. The dinner menu has a some items that remind you that you're on LBI; for example, there are oysters and clams on the half-shell. But you'll see pork belly instead of soft shell crab, and braised short ribs with bok choy and kimchee -- presumably not a traditional Island dish. I had the market salad to start and thought that it was tasty and well composed. The kale salad across from me was described as "too acidic" by my partners in crime. My main dish was a bass of some kind that was served with an assortment of vegetables (potatoes and artichoke, in particular) that I were undercooked in a trendy way. The artichoke could certainly have been a bit softer! The service was friendly but the pacing of the dishes was not completely effective -- it took a long time for the main dishes to come out after we finished our starters. I felt that the Arlington was worthy of four stars, but I asked my fellow diners to weigh in and got a bunch of 3's around the table (in part because of the kale salad). I definitely think that the Arlington is worth checking out. If you spend more than a few days on the Island and want a change of pace, you should definitely schedule a visit. read more

Our dinner at The Arlington last night was delicious. We had a 6:30pm reservation and we were seated immediately. Amy our waitress was great. Very knowledgeable and accommodating. We never had to ask for more water or extra napkins etc. My husband is an IPA guy and he not only enjoyed all 3 of the beers he tried, he purchase a Growler to go. I loved the Shrimp & Grits. My crab cake was good, not great. My husband had the pork belly appetizer which was amazing and the local swordfish was great too. My son loved the papardelle but thought the steak was a tad dry. My Mom had the swordfish and the scallops and enjoyed both. We have eaten here each Summer since it's been open and have never been disappointed. One tip...bag the dessert and run across the street for a Shore Good Donut. read more

We arrived late on a Friday night, around 9:45pm and were seated right away. There was four of us to start, and a fifth joined us shortly after. The food is just ok. The homemade fettuccine dish was good, but slightly under salted. But, my allergies were out of control that day, which can definitely affect taste buds! The wine on the other hand was wonderful. As for dessert, I'd suggest the salted caramel one, not the banana bread pudding (it was on the dry side. The decor is lovely and the service was very attentive. read more

I had a dozen delicious oysters, my wife had a grilled ricotta cheese bread. All of it was good. My wife even had a really nice cocktail...Prosecco and a Grapefruit Liqueur..this was awesome. So here it comes... Yes, they have a pretty awesome craft beer selection, but the flaw in their beer list, is that the draft menu does not show the prices. Now I understand for the shore, you "up the price," but to pay over $10 for a beer, come on. I ordered a Founder's ReDANKulous, and I know it's a high end beer. I also ordered a Bear Republic DIPA, and that was $12.50. I may have the prices backwards. They poured them correctly...not a full pint due to the high ABV, but to charge $10+ is crazy. At least let the customer know the prices. Their happy hour beer....Yuengling, for a place like this....to have that as a happy hour beer....laughable. Also they do fill growlers here...haha...so I asked the bartender how much a growler is? "What we do here, is charge 6.5 times the price of the beer....$5 more if you purchase a growler." Keep in mind...a growler is 64 oz. (4 pints).....so a growler of that beer would have been $65-70. I went to a liquor store and purchased a 4-pack of that Founders beer for $11.99. I love craft beer...I know my stuff...I just felt kind of ripped off when the check came. It's a shame that their prices are high...the vibe in the place was really cool. We are so happy to have discovered this wonderful restaurant in LBI. For starters the hostess was welcoming. The decor is warm, coastal & rustic. The entire staff during dinner service was attentive and friendly. Best part? The food! I tried the local oysters, scallops with polenta, short ribs prepared Korean BBQ style and the crispy chicken skin. Everything was delicious, including the kids chicken fingers. I am seriously smitten by this place! We happened (by chance) to stop in for an early dinner (because the wait at The Ship Bottom Shelfish was over two hours). We were warmly greeted & seated within minutes of our hastily made online reservation, and were given a small table in the middle of the restaurant. My five-year old son wanted a more comfy seat, and we requested another table to our wonderful waitress, Liz, who was more than happy to make us comfortable. The menu was on the smaller side, and had some unusual choices like Conch Fritters, and Crispy Fried Chicken Skins for snacks. We ordered the Tuna Tartare special and the Shrimp And Grits appetizers. Both were phenomenally good, the flavors in each carefully constructed yet simple and uncomplicated. For dinner, my husband ordered the Viking Village Swordfish...Crykie! Perfection. It was a seared piece of swordfish on a small bed of sticky rice and various types of mushrooms such as shiitake. It comes with a small cup of a flavorful broth that is then poured onto the mushrooms & rice. It was easily one of the best dishes I have had this year. I got the crab cakes and they were quite good, but I really wished there was some sort of sauce served along with them besides the small trail of lemon purée under them. The asparagus salad was very fresh, but really wished: a) It could have had a bit more dressing on it, b) The asparagus had been blanched instead of raw & c) There were WAY less raw red onion on it, and perhaps soaked in some cold water to remove its bite. We also had the Chocolate Banana Bread Pudding desert, as recommended by the fantastic Liz, who was incredibly friendly, engaging and helpful. It was yummy, but I would have loved some sort of chocolate sauce on it just to send it over the top. We were pleased to find out from Liz that The Arlington is open year round because I would love to take a few road trips down here just to try some more items on the menu, and devour the Swordfish again! My experience: We went in for a sunday brunch and the crepes were burnt. Kitchen sent em back out stating crepes are supposes to be burnt. eh... they were carbonized not golden. Also the cook that day did not grille the sandwiches on both sides all the way (just lazy cooking). Bacon was raw, pickles were old and not crisp. All this was for my companions. I had the eggs Benedict and give it 2 thumbs up. Mimosas a bit mini in size but the bloody marys are excellent. Mac n cheese is also very good. So based on price per quantity and kitchen staff quality I score The Arlington a 3.5. If you value your cash and do not like having to argue with the kitchen then move on. However, if you can spare some dollars, aren't too picky and want something hip, clean, and like to drink, i suggest it. We were visiting the area and this restaurant was highly recommended by locals. We went with our little family early (5:30) and there were plenty of seats. Based on a recommendation by our server we ordered the Mojito Clams. So glad we listened to her. They were tangy, delicious, and left us wanting more. We also ordered the scallops of the day and those were equally delicious. We ended up ordering a second round of apps because we enjoyed what we had eaten so far. We ordered the baked clams-verrrry small. We should have reordered the Mojito Clams. They were way better. And we ordered the crispy chicken skins. Previously we've had great food and service at the Arlington. Tonight was a disappointment. We were seated in the "overflow" room with two other tables. The main restaurant was not crowded as they had tables available from 7 to 10. The three tables in this room were serviced by 3 different servers all with tables in the main room. Our server apologized immediately for being slow as she wasn't used to coving this room. The table next to us was unhappy with their service as well. When we were served, several of the apps were cold, but we waited so long we didn't send them back. Our server was never around, I had to get my own steak knife from a shelf. Two of us had the short ribs which were tasty, one portion was half the size of the other. When asked for muddled limes in a cocktail, the bar tender told our server he didn't have time to do it. It's no surprise the restaurant was pretty empty with mediocre service and a lazy kitchen. Suggestion: assign one server to that room and make sure they communicate with the runners and the kitchen. read more

This is my personal favorite when visiting LBI. From the craft beers and cocktails to the elegantly rustic decor to the deliciously creative and flavorful dishes, everything about The Arlington comes together to create a special dining experience. Being a creature of habit, I usually get the braised shortribs with baby bock Chou, kimchee and Korean BBQ. But I've also ordered and recommend the brussel and kale caeser salad, the village viking swordfish, the double cheeseburger and the oysters on the half shell. read more
