The Art Shack unleashed my daughter's art talent. We went to the Art Shack just to enquire about photography classes. As a result, I allowed my daughter to explore further the arts discipline as Laura happen to be taking a group of her students to view and learn from an art exposition at DASH. As a result, my daughter fell in love with the idea of attending an Art Magnet school. In just 6 months, my daughter not only developed art skills and an excellent art portfolio, but a a sense of passion and confidence. Laura reviewed my daughter's random art sketches and saw potential and talent and encouraged her. My daughter got into DASH, a dream come through, not only based on the art work she created under the guidance and instruction of Laura and the teachers, but the nurturing environment that built up my daughter's confidence to persevere and flourish. My daughter got into DASH for 10th grade with no prior specialized art instruction! The Art Shack is so much more than an art school. It is a full experience no matter what age you are. (My daughter never wants to leave and counts the days to her class!) They make you think creatively, always offering a variety of materials and allowing for individual expression. Each art work created is unique! Children, toddlers, adults and teens learn how to use the language of art to express themselves, learn about technique and also learn about different content related to the art they are doing. Whether it is an animal they are painting, a skyline they are modeling in clay or a collage self portrait, there is always new things to explore. The teachers are wonderful, always ready to help, respectful and fun. I took my 10year old son to The Art Shack to learn art techniques. We were told a teacher works with the kids. We never saw a teacher, all there ever was young volunteers that sit with the kids while they play with arts and crafts. My son was told to do whatever he wanted, no-one ever helped him or showed him any techniques or styles. My son asked not to go back. Unfortunately, we had paid for the whole month up front as well as the art fee they charge. They charge for the first trial class, which is usually free at other places. read more

The Art Shack Miami is the best art instruction my daughter has received at any studio or class in Miami. The improvement in her work was dramatic and immediate. A lot of the work is begun in class but finished at home, so my daughter is definitely the one doing the work, but now her skill set is significantly more advanced. The summer camp at this place is AMAZING! Teachers bend over backwards to make the kids have an awesome experience. Their program goes beyond art to encompass other creative activities. My son has ADHD so he can be all over the place but at the Art class he was able to concentrate and produce beautiful pieces.
