I love my lips and brows, they both look very natural, which is what I was going for. Jennifer was very precise in her approach and addicted to every detail. This overwhelmingly met my needs and expectations. She was very easy to talk with and listened to me implicitly. Jen's caring and calming approach allowed me to feel very much at ease. She never made me feel she was in a hurry, and in fact, took quite a bit of time to ensure I was comfortable and happy with the total experience and outcome. I bought the Feather Stroke Eye Brow on Groupon. Jen is a nice lady and she made them evenly shaped. But after her tatooing my eyebrows and 3 touch ups they are still not done and they definitely do not look like feather stroke. It is a solid tattoo. I am still having to pencil in my eyebrows. She told me that the color isnt holding because I am blonde, but I doubt that is the case. The 3 stars is because she is nice and she did them evenly shaped. This review is for permanent make-up/eyebrows - I absolutely LOVE Jen at The Artists Touch in La Jolla. Her attention to detail is phenomenal. She's an artist herself so she is very knowledgeable when it comes to colors, shapes and depth. She also asks your opinion and takes that into consideration, when she is contemplating various shapes and color. My first visit was a 4 hour visit, so I definitely got my money's worth! She did some measurements on my face, we did an evaluation of my skin tone and then she drew out my eyebrows before getting started with the permanent stuff. And she wouldn't start until I was completely satisfied either. (I'm pretty picky; after all it IS permanent) As far as costs for eyebrows, she regularly charges $400.00, however if you tell her that I (Anna Lang- Phillips) referred you, you can get BOTH brows done for $180.00! There's no need to go through groupon for the discount. She's pretty booked up so make your appointment, don't hesitate. Texting her is the best way to reach out to her too, as she doesn't like discussing about clients in front of other clients (I hope that that made sense) She respects her clients privacy. What can I say about Jenifer...First off, she really cares about her clients. I had never had permanent makeup done, and it was safe to say I was very nervous about the whole thing. She is EXTREMELY patient and truly cares about your satisfaction. I believe it took me at least a couple hours to pick out a color and shape I liked for my brows. During the session she lets you check her work with a mirror to see if you want to make any changes ect. I highly recommend getting permanent makeup done at The Artist's Touch. I have had it done three times in my life, so I knew what to expect. This time I went to The Artist's Touch, and I'm glad I did. It does hurt a little, but Jen does a good job of applying the anesthetic regularly and making sure you're comfortable while she's working on you. It isn't nearly as bad as it was when I had it done 15 years ago. You have to be prepared to be part of the decision making process. It is your face, after all. I had 3D hair stroke eyebrows done by Jennifer. First session was in July touch up was done today. I love them so far. Jennifer is great. She does an amazing job on taking her time. Making them look perfect. For the touch up Jennifer struggled a little because my face is oily so color was taking a bit longer. But her determination to make them look nice is incredible. Jen is a detailed listener, with a very gentle touch, who does meticulous work, making sure the end result meets her standards of perfection. I had one session with Jennifer after seeing her work on a friend. She seemed unfocused when I first arrived but meticulously measured my brows so I went ahead with it. Unfortunately I was disappointed. She changed my brow line without asking me first. My brows are now different shapes and I ended up with splotches of black (with spot that are completely without coverage) instead of the hair strokes you are supposed to have with microblading. I does not take more than one appointment to get the shape, strokes or look right. There is not a single distinguishable hair stroke in my brows. I must also mention that the friend she worked on ended up with solid black brows. I assumed she had asked for that but learned by experience that that is how she does "hair stroke". I now spend more time coloring in my brows each morning. In response to Jennifer: You told me that I would have to pay a small fee for the next appointment. I do have other tattoos with no issues at all. Your explanation does explain why I have two different shaped eyebrows and that no hair strokes were apparent (unlike what I've seen from many many many other artists) from the get go. I mentioned nothing about fading. That wasn't my concern at all and I understand that it takes multiple appointments to get the darkness and coverage. Again it was the shape and that there were no hair strokes, only splotches of color. Perhaps if you were as responsive to your one star reviews as you are to texts and calls you'd have less one star reviews. You will not please everyone all the time. That's just part of business but don't make excuses. The right thing to do is to offer to fix the problem. Take care. It's great that people have had excellent experiences with her but take the criticisms as a chance to improve, or not, but harassing former/fellow clients is never ok. It's interesting that the clients that are unhappy with their brows all have similar experiences but Jennifer dismisses them every time. When you go for permanent makeup, it can be scary....it's permanent. I wanted a natural look eyebrow. I asked Jen for 3D strokes just like an eyebrow pencil. Came out fantastic! This individual truly deserves a 0. She ruined my eyebrows. She was extremely unorganized and scatterbrained when I met her for my appointment, however she was friendly at first so I just went with it and hoped the other few yelps about her were legit. My experience was a nightmare. Once she started I realized she had a shaky hand which obviously doesn't mix well when you are performing a permanent make up service. At that point I couldn't stop her because she had already started. When she was done, I realized my eyebrows very uneven. She tried to explain that she would fix them during the free touch up but when I tried to schedule it, the days that I had available suddenly became the days that she had other commitments. When I asked her to make an exception and see me on a Sunday she did, but she definitely made me feel like I was ruining her tight schedule. I ended up texting her to confirm the appointment the morning before and I didn't hear back. I then decided to try one more time the evening before and she decided to respond at 1:25am. I didn't see the text until I woke up the next morning and by that time I was over it and I told her I wasn't going. She was so shady about making the appointment that I was nervous she might forget or blow me off since she wasn't the nicest about scheduling it. At that point she unleashed on me and told me that she was busy and she cancelled other plans to make my appointment. It was honestly a novel angry text. Jen is a professional and truly cares about her client's experience and satisfaction. She spends a lot of time preparing before actually starting the process, which I appreciate. Realistically, she could see at least 2 or 3 clients in the amount of time she spends with one. Her goal is customer satisfaction, not how many clients she can squeeze in on a day, Jen is very caring...if she sees you having pain, she will stop to apply more numbing agent; she could continue on in order to save time because this takes a few minutes to take effect but she wants to ensure you are not hurting. Jen does not boast of her work or her ability. She strives for perfection but this does not happen in one visit, especially when she starts with previously poorly done tattoos. The follow up visit is essential...for which she does not charge an additional fee. She listened with an open mind to what I had to say, and was never dismissive. I am very happy with my brows. They seemed "high" to me at first because the previous tattoos I had were too low. It's important to realize that when correction is needed for anything not properly done in the first place, there is more work required and no one can wave a magic wand to instantly change it. The higher brow actually lifts my face and opens my eyes. It was a matter of getting used to what they should have looked like, instead of what I had for years. They also do appear dark at first, but definitely fade as they heal - thus the need for the touch up. The hair strokes are very realistic. I've had many compliments on how my brows now look natural and "like real hair". Jen is a genuinely kind and caring person. Nowadays, it seems so many businesses are focused on volume and making as much money as possible. I couldn't believe some of the remarks posted by people. If you are not happy with something, just move on. Social media has made it too easy for people to be mean and hateful, spewing words that hurt others. I had seen Jen's artwork before coming to her for a consult and knew she was an amazing artist. She was very kind and spent a lot of time with me during our initial consultation. She made me feel comfortable and after reviewing her portfolio I decided to move forward with her to get an eyelash enhancement. I was a bit nervous at first but she made me feel very comfortable and the results were amazing. I am blonde and light skinned and don't like to wear a lot of make up so now I finally had color enhancing my blue eyes without having to wear make up. I was so happy with her results I scheduled another appointment with her for more of an eyeliner look. Again she spent her time with me and was very accommodating. I love my results. I was very nervous about getting my eyebrows tattooed since I am very picky about the shape and wanted them to look natural but I'm so happy I did this! Its such a time saver to not have to fill my eyebrows in the morning. Jen is a perfectionist and took her time but that was okay with me since good results were most important to me. She let me draw the shape I wanted and then used measuring tools to make sure that they were identical, and she helped me pick the perfect color for my skin tone. My mom went to another makeup tattoo artist shortly after me, and unfortunately it is obvious that they are tattooed. Maybe I am jumping the gun right now but this business doesn't seem to exist ....i read such great reviews so I was excited to give it a try. my husband had bought me a Groupon for permanent eye makeup for mothers day and I have been attempting to contact them to make an appointment for nearly 2 weeks now and both phone numbers I have found one on the Groupon voucher and a different number right off the website and both go right into a voicemail.... i have left several voicemails and text messages (as instructed on voicemail) with no avail. I am a bit stressed because I even took a week off work SPECIFICALLY to get my eyes done!! (I just didn't want to deal with redness and swelling at work) this is my first time ever leaving anything on yelp and it saddens me to have to leave a negative review but I was so excited to do this and experience this greatness I have read but as of yet it doesn't appear to be very good.
