We needed our driveway repaved. Even though the neighbor across the street does concrete, we went with asphalt. They did an excellent job! We needed to remove, clear, add a new base and 3" blacktop at the church with minimal disruption to the programs that go on there (preschool, yoga, theater and various meetings). Our timing needed to be right- and Dan and the rest of the Jungle guys did their thing in record time, even in the heat. The direction of the parking was changed from angle to straight in...and we added 10 spaces with even more room between cars (9 1/2 feet wide spaces)! Upon going through my reviews, I noticed that the owner, Dan had decided to comment me on what I thought of his business. I also noticed it took him almost two years to reply to the horrible business his company did. First, I want to say that I've been on the HOA board for over 15 or more years consecutively, living in my town home for 30 this July. Second, he never reached out or returned phone calls to either Doni Hooker or Linda Mulloy, who had tried to contact him or Brett to remedy this situation. Funny, they cashed the check, but never bothered to fix the problem. Brett did say he was going to try to help us, but that never happened. read more

I set up an estimate appt for a new driveway in San pedro, We were scheduled for 11/4/2021 at 7am. At 8:30 i texted their estimator to see if he forgot. 10 minutes later he texted back that they didn't want my business as they didn't think they could give a competitive bid. Why I wasn't told this when setting up the bid I don't understand. They knew the scope of the job before I talked to the estimator and could have declined the job then saving me 2 hours of waiting for them. I was not impressed with the owner Dan. He was very disorganized and it took a few times contacting him before we were able to finish the proposal. I was referred by someone so I thought they would be reasonable. When I told him that I wanted white, he sent a crew member and ended up painting it yellow without contacting me for the change, especially because I wasn't on site. His worker had no knowledge of our communication and when someone else greeted him, the worker told him yellow would be best. It seems that he is too busy to even keep track of things especially since it may not be a "big job". He charged over $600 for striping the speed bumps, the stop sign, and 6 parking stripes. It took less than an hour as well. When I asked him to change it to white like we had originally plan, he told me it would cost $275 and he would call me back; then he called his worker and called me back and said it would cost $350...so I reminded him what he quoted earlier. He is not professional nor does he want customer satisfaction. Otherwise he wouldn't argue about the request, but rather build business relations. It's a big headache when someone is trying to rip you off! Bottom line - get everything in writing with this company. Also, if you are on a budget or time is an issue, I would call another company. If something goes wrong, he won't fix it without more money. read more

Dan, the owner came early for his appointment, a time I had scheduled for another asphalt contractor. He handed me his card and began discussing the job with me. No problem. Then the other contractor came and saw Dan. They knew each other. He decided to not take the job because of Dan's presence. When he left, Dan decided he didn't want the job either. Very unprofessional. I was clear with his company, as I always am with contractors, about the character of my street -- narrow and on a hill. According to his secretary he gave her this reason for walking away in the middle of our interview. But that was never an issue. I have never experienced this kind of unprofessional immaturity with any contractor. He ruined my chances with another contractor by not calling to ask if he could come early. And then he didn't care. Watch out for him. read more

The Asphalt Jungle has been in business as is my understanding for 30plus years. Although, they are corporately located in Malibu their business covers most of greater Los Angeles, and Ventura counties. I learned of them earlier this morning. The work detail gentlemen headed by Oscar, and his two other associates, Marcos, and Juan, came to my work location at Center BMW in Sherman Oaks,Ca. They were set to blacktop, and restripe a few customer and disabled parking spaces in the front or pre-owned sales lot of the dealership. I went out on a few runs in my position there as a Courtesy shuttle driver. And after I returned within not even a half hr to 1 hr. the gentlemen had nearly finished the entire job!!!! They worked amazingly, and seamlessly fast!!!! I learned from the lead man, Oscar that their company specializes only in private properties..... I mentioned to all the gentlemen that the city,county, and state gov areas; ergo the streets, etc need them to do their work!!!!! Talk about LA, etc, being slow..... Drive some of the LA streets...potholess etc.. Talk about being slow...... Hey, LA,,, needs to take a hint from The Asphalt Jungle folks... I am amazed at the bad reviews! I had my asphalt driveway resurfaced and a color coating applied. Dan and his crew were excellent. The price was right, the job was well done, and Dan went the extra mile with me as I was deciding on a color for the coating. He met me at two separate properties showing me what the color looked like. I could not have asked for more. read more

I got three bids to replace the asphalt circular driveway at our home. Asphalt Jungle came in $25 above the low bid and about $900 below the high bid. I had repaved a parking area at an apartment building that I own back in 2002 and my notes said "Asphalt Jungle--good job, fair price", so I chose them for the driveway. Dan was patient and accommodating in helping us lay out the curves. Our house is downhill from the street and Dan was thorough and careful in designing, lasing, and installing the slope of the asphalt so that water runs away from the house. After Asphalt Jungle had already installed the base gravel, we had to delay the final asphalt twice, because of problems with another contractor and with the city inspector's schedule. Dan stayed cheerful and even drove personally to the building department to expedite the process. The final install went smoothly with no problems. The driveway looks great and drains perfectly. It's too soon to know about durability, but their job as the apartment building is still in good shape after 14 years. read more
