Food: This is a hidden gem in Sunset Park/South Slope that more people need to try! We tried the chicken parmesan plate, pizza (half margherita and half pepperoni with hot honey), and the calzone. All three were amazing and so impressive. The chicken parmesan was moist and flavorful; their sauce is very tasty. The pizza had a thin crust and nice char on the bottom and is definitely above average pizza in NYC. The calzone was huge and packed with ricotta and mozzarella cheese served with fresh basil and tomato sauce on the side. I can't wait to go back to try other dishes as well as their other specialty pizzas. Service: Service was phenomenal; staff were friendly and very attentive! Ambiance: The restaurant is pretty small with about 10-12 small tables. The place can probably accommodate only two large groups at a time by putting tables together. They take reservations so I would recommend making one beforehand to avoid waiting. Overall, I would HIGHLY recommend this restaurant!

The service here is amazing super friendly staff and fast service. We ordered a half margherita have classic pie. Both were good but I prefer the classic. The margherita pizza is not your traditional one which threw me off but it was good. They only serve family style so don't expect to just grab a slice.

Came in for the pizza, discovered they've got a solid pasta game too. We devoured two pies pepperoni + plain (basil on top) between three people zero leftovers, zero regrets. Bonus: they serve wine & yes, I forgot the picz There's a peaceful cemetery view if you're into that sort of serenity with your slice. Service was great Worth a stop if you're nearby!

Whenever we would visit the Gravesend cemetery, we would see this pizzeria and always said that we would try it because it looked like a quaint little place and those usually have the best pizzas. We finally tried it and it met our expectations. We went on a Friday around 5pm and it was empty so we chose a table by the window so we could soak up the sun. The place seems small from the outside but it is big enough for families to dine-in. The waitress was attentive and provided menus for us right away. We ordered the Margherita pizza and it was exquisite. Not too toasted and the cheese and sauce was a combined taste of heaven. I love that they have the Italian sodas so I ordered a blood orange one. In overall, it was a nice great place to eat and chill on a Friday afternoon. I can't wait to come back and try their pizza pie with pepperoni and hot honey.

Food was fresh and delicious ! Portions are also big, so get ready to share ! It's a cozy pizza spot with plenty of seating inside and outside. The service was quick, and the price was decent. Definitely recommend and will be coming back for more !

Visited The Astarita on a snowy night to celebrate my niece's birthday--because when a kid requests their favorite meal (pizza, obviously), you don't argue. And let me tell you, it did not disappoint. The cozy, Brooklyn-esque vibe, the exposed brick oven, and the warm, welcoming staff made it feel like the perfect spot to escape the cold. The classic Margherita was easily my favorite--simple, fresh, and perfectly balanced. The veggie pizza, while good, could've used a bit more oomph--but nothing a generous sprinkle of red pepper flakes couldn't fix. Safe to say, this place earned a permanent spot on my "must-revisit" list.

Quick visit for some pizza! Amazing, super fresh ingredients. Each cheese had its own distinct flavor. I loved the tanginess of the gorgonzola, along with the smokiness of the smoked mozzarella. Service was quick and polite.

What a cute, cozy spot for delicious pizza! I tried the margherita and it's exactly what I'd want: a great tomato base, generously topped with cheese and fresh basil on a thin, thin dough. Can seat about twenty people inside at a time and you could also order to go!

Such a great addition to the neighborhood. Excellent thin-crust pizza with the perfect ratio of cheese, sauce, and crust. Crispy, but with enough chew and flexibility. The pizza holds up well for delivery. What brings it over the top is the fact that people with complex dietary restrictions can eat their pizza! My wife has allergies not only to wheat and dairy, but also rice, which is often used in gluten-free crusts (even cauliflower crust). Astarita's cauliflower crust is totally grain-free! I typically get a regular margherita pizza, and she gets a cauliflower pizza with olives, anchovies, and a bunch of other good stuff. Support this new local business!

Everything on the menu looked amazing, so I had the waiter choose my dish/wine pairing and he did a great job! I got the pesto with shrimp. The pasta is handmade and the wine is natural from Italy. The pesto is made the day of in the morning. All fresh ingredients. They have indoor seating and then more seating in the back that is the perfect spot. I love the exposed brick wall. This might be my new favorite Italian spot. I will be back soon! Thank you for the amazing experience.

Instead of picking a wine from a menu, you tell your server the flavor and mood of wine you're looking for and they bring out glasses or a bottle for you based on that. The food here is delicious and I was happy to see gluten free pasta options. The pork ragu was good but I was truly impressed by how good the texture of the gluten free pasta was. For me, the show stopper was the branzino. It was seasoned perfectly and the potato crust was a fun touch. The salad was nice and simple, but didn't blow me away. Portion sizes were good, though the prices are on the higher side. The restaurant is a great place for a friends' night or date night, and I'd keep the group small or make a reservation in advanced because it gets busy. It is definitely a more expensive spot, but worth it!
