Earlier this year, I tried to use a guest pass on my grandparents membership. I was unaware of how the process works, you know how instructions from grandparents can be. After a few phone calls I admit the mixup was on our end and they no longer have their membership so I continue to purchase a day pass, staff wasn't necessarily the most kind, but they were still professional. A few months later, I'm considering getting a membership since I'm on that side of town more often, the person that reached out to me stated that there's a note on my profile that I gave a fake name, and continued to tell me twice that after the enrollment fee fees and monthly fee fees, it probably would not be worth it for me to become a member. The vibe seemed to push that she did not want me to be a member. She was still professional, but it left a bad taste in my mouth and made me feel unwelcome to join. When requesting floor cleaning, equipment cleaning, or anything else nothing seems to get corrected and all that is provided is lip service and promise to get on top of it. Corporate nor location management seem to care, so maybe this is another location that will be shut down soon. Overpromising and under delivering is a bad way to run a business. Maybe if the staff/management used the gym, they would notice how filthy the equipment and floors are regularly. I think human health and services might interested if I reached out to them as this gym is a petri dish of germs. La Fitness, show some pride in your business and that you care about your members health and happiness.

I was pleasantly surprised when Bailee streamlined the process without any pressure. She also offered me free trials of membership benefits like the red light therapy and the brand new cold plunge! Bailee was so friendly and helpful in assisting me in deciding on how to proceed with my membership choices in a non committal way like I wanted. Another gentleman (I think his name was Brad) gave us a tour and was very respectful of the limited amount of time I had to spend on the tour. A great part about Mountainside fitness is that they allow 12-year-olds to join so that means my daughter can come with me! I could not find another gym in the area that allows children under 13 to attend so I was really pleased at this privilege. I also liked that all the memberships allow you to go to any location.! To my surprise, there aren't any 24 Hour Fitness locations in Phoenix. So, I needed to make a switch. Mountainside has quite a few locations around town. The closest one to my place is the Desert Ridge location. So, that's where I typically go to. But I was feeling frisky and decided to try out the Paradise Valley location on a Monday around 5:30 p.m. The parking lot was almost full, but I was able to snag one of the last available spots. Something to keep in mind at peak times. The layout and size of this gym is almost identical to the Desert Ridge location. Which is a good think. The gym, locker room, and bathrooms are clean. There's a good selection of equipment and it's well maintained. There's a half basketball court, dry sauna, and steam room. There are a decent number of TVs (though they could be bigger). There are exercise classes. All in all, for the bang for your buck, I haven't seen any other gym (ever) that provides better value. You also get complimentary towels with your visit. Forgot to mention that. Mountainside Fitness does everything I look for in a gym at a high level. There's a reason most gyms have overall ratings on Yelp of less than 4 stars. Mountainside Fitness gyms tend to be above 4 stars. That speaks volumes.
