We visited for the first time today so my wife could shop for something to wear to an upcoming event. The store seems packed with merchandise in two adjacent salesrooms. There were designer names that I had never heard of, but my wife quickly recognized them as those found in higher end boutiques. Their prices are very reasonable for the quality of what they sell, and their sale prices are even better. My wife happily walked out with three items in her purchase. We were fortunate to have met the owner, Lea, while checking out. She explained that her store has been open for 23 years in Chatham. When people ask how she can afford to sell her merchandise at the prices marked, she explains that she has a low overhead with it being a family run business and the Chatham building is essentially her warehouse. She also told us, if you don't see a size you are looking for, ask for assistance. She likely has more sizes stored off the sales floor. If you can't make it to Chatham, she explained she also has been selling directly from her website. Attractive prices, and very friendly and welcoming service, the only thing missing is... clothing for us men.

When I got home and took the shoes out of the box I noticed several scuff marks on the shoes. I called and spoke to Kate. She said I could bring the shoes back. I brought them back two days later. The owner informed me that shoes would've never left her store in that condition. In other words - I must've scuffed them. I explained that I hadn't worn them, so couldn't possibly have made scuff marks. She said maybe they got scuffed in the shoe box. What? That doesn't even make sense! My husband was carefully replacing a few socks that my daughter (3yo) had disturbed from their place on display. The saleswoman started to wave her hand frustratedly in my daughter's direction, while repeating "could she NOT! Could she NOT!" Lady, she's 3! And it was being refolded and replaced. I hope the owner knows that I walked OUT. I was planning on spending several hundreds of dollars but, because of that poor attitude, why would I support a brand that hires staff like that?!? When my husband told the woman that this was unacceptable and he was replacing the items to their original place and folding them, she proceeded to tell him to "get a grip sir!" Staff training on customer care is lacking and should immediately be addressed!

I also bought a beautiful brass necklass and gorgeous blue silk top for about $10 each. On top of clothing/jewelry, there is also some furniture and a lot of home decor items. I will definitely return next time I find myself in town again. Also, FYI- if you consign items with Abby, she offers a 50/50 split on the sale, which is a great deal compared to many consignment shops. Perhaps next time I'll haul up some of my old goodies to offset my shopping!
