Blackout curtains do not work. It's only dark for 5 to 6 hrs in June. The curtains will not block light. Yelling outside until 0100 and construction at 0630 aee all perfectly heard in your room. Bring earplugs. See initial quote...in a dangerous part of town.

The rooms are a bit dated, but our room was very spacious and the bathroom had double sinks and a separate makeup/hairstyling area. Our big problem was the Air Conditioning. It has just been unseasonably hot, but the AC wasn't going below 24.5 (about 76 degrees). When I called down, the first person said to give it time and she would send a fan up. When I called down a few hours later, the person said she and her colleague would change the settings on their end and set the thermostat to 20 (68 degrees). That evening, it's still around 24 degrees, so we opened the windows and put the fan in one of the windows. It helped cool the room down, but also let in tons of noise and light; bad for sleeping. The next day, when none of this was resolved, I asked to speak to a manager and explained to her the situation. She assured me that she would have a technician look at it and monitor to ensure that it is working properly. By the time we returned later, our room was around 22 (71.6; not what I wanted, but much more tolerable). Again, I find it annoying that none of the other people actually worked to help me, but I am glad that someone did so I can get some sleep. It's definitely not a luxury hotel, as far as service goes, but it served our purposes well in Brussels. If you stay here and need something, I suggest going to the manager. And, to the manager(s), I suggest retraining your employees to be honest with customers about what they can and will do.

The only reason it isn't five stars is because we checked in and were given a room on the sixth floor. The elevator only goes to the fifth floor so we had to get off on the fifth floor and walk up to the sixth floor every time. After walking around all day and carrying our suitcases around - this was not fun to hear or do. The room had basic accommodations. It wasn't anything special but it worked for us. Another pro is that it is really close to the train station. You can walk there in less than five minutes.

We returned in about 2 hours just to check if a room might be ready but were prepared to continue to explore if not. They said the room was cleaned and just pending inspection. Foolishly we waited, it ended up being over an hour and we were now checking in after standard check in time. Frustrating but it happens. The room was spacious but had a few minor issues a hotel of this level should not. They bathroom door would not close all the way, and while spacious, the room is still cozy and without a fully shut door, one could hear, well, everything happening in the bathroom. Further, the sink would not drain unless the plug thing in the middle was fully removed from the sink. These issues were reported but we weren't expecting they be resolved before check out (and they weren't). I was on vacation but needed to check in on a few work items. My biggest annoyance was that their wifi was spotty and best and kept dropping in and out. I ended up having to take my laptop out of the hotel to send a few important emails. Disappointing. Location wise, it's great. Easy walk to everything. Tenish minutes to the train station. In the heart of downtown without being subject to all the downtown craziness. As the goal was to minimize time in room, the location made it easy.

This was my fourth time to the city. **Location** Located a 7 minute walk from the Grand Palace on a quieter part of the City Center. **Check-In** Front Desk was friendly and were informative of the spa kit that would be found in the room. **Accommodations** The room had a Dominican chant feel when you walk in. The bed was not bad and the ceilings were high. **Amenities** Reservations were needed for the gym/spa amenities. There's a nice bar and restaurant in the lobby and I didn't get a chance to check it out. **Local Attractions** The Grand Palace is less than 10 minutes away and there's a Carrefour Market 5 minutes away on Rue du Marché aux Poulets.
