Been back several times since my first review in mid March. Same great service, (actually pretty outstanding), friendly staff and fun atmosphere. I continue to receive warm welcomes from the owners, Matt, Dallas and Jose. Upon grabbing a seat at the bar, they even recall my preferred wine request; and BF's Miller Lite; On my most recent visit, Jose asked me to try a new wine they wanted to check out. What a nice thought to ask for customer input! I don't even have to order my preferred Merlot. What a great feeling. OR, should one be embarrassed that the staff remember you so well and what you drink? Okay, that's fine with me !! I recently had the spinach artichoke dip which is most tasty with the thin warm crispy chips. Was also good the next day! Next on my list is to try the White Sauce Chicken Pizza! Ya know, it is bar food, but IMO, a little elevated over most. This space is soooo comfy, so welcoming and very nice. BF and I stopped by one Fri night recently, to find no available parking spaces. We were elated to see that they were so busy! A great spot in our 'hood that we really want to survive. Their two lovely patios are so appealing for upcoming good weather. As a side note, I received a PM from a (filtered) one star reviewer (no pic, no friends) that was (as I delicately state) rather "tacky". He was very negative about his experience, to which I responded with my regrets and encouraged him to give Back 9 another try. He responded with "thank you, as an employee of Back 9, your opinion does not matter". Duh....I am not an employee but a very happy patron of this place, just blocks from my 'hood. What a very unhappy folk he must be, as all his reviews are one star reviews. That is simply.....SAD !!! Must be discouraging to get up every day and look that face in the mirror! Heaven help! Bottom line, I love this place! The owners put a lot of effort into making this a spot to come, chill, enjoy and want their customers' input. They LISTEN !!! OH, HOT NEWS! Back 9 is now serving Sunday brunch, from 1000 to around 1600. Jose brought us the new menu and it looks enticing. If you like your food salty and overpriced, this place is for you. Been here on a few occasions and it hasn't changed. It's almost inedible. Got the club. $10 for a sandwich with more lettuce than meat. Where was the bacon? The onion rings were inedible; batter was so salty. And, charging me $.60 for a 1oz side of your ranch just isn't cool either. Service is spotty. If you aren't drinking alcohol, or a regular, you pretty much have to ask for your refill. I have been to the Back 9 a lot since it opened. It has turned into my favorite bar/ restaurant in Addison. The staff always welcomes me and everyone who walks in. I can't say enough good things about the food. It's way above average for a sports bar, with a selection on their menu. You can entertain yourself with their free games like Giant Jenga, and Bimini Ring Toss. The Back 9 has it all: Great Food and Service, reasonably priced drinks, entertainment including UFC. read more

Back 9 is a great place for watching UFC cards. Just checked out the latest UFC, and they have a heated Patio ( it did get a lil cold later, but that is after like 3+ hrs sitting, ingesting large amts of bar food, coupled with like 40-50 windy weather near midnight), so in reality, we may have stayed warm had we not eaten probably. A group of five friends and myself went to check out the Back Nine on good references. It was a Friday night and the place was packed! It looked like a fun environment, so we stayed to have some drinks.... except that we were ignored. By everyone. We lingered for about half a hour (maybe they'll get to us eventually?) .... even the bartender blew us off! I used to be in the hospitality industry, and I understand busy. But really, Back Nine? Service was really good considering they had the UFC fight and the place was so packed it was hard to move around. The bar tenders were really on their game. I don't think I waited more than 2 mins to get a beer. Once they saw people with that longing look for a drink they were on you asking what you wanted. Even the waitresses asked if you needed anything as they walked by. They have a DJ that played everything under the sun. However, its not really a dance type place. No dance floor. But the music was good. I hear they have a bikini contest on Weds. Gonna have to make it a point to check that out. :) read more

I've been here before and had a pizza. I didn't remember if they had drink specials but for some my friend and I were convinced they would have good drink specials on Sundays and sadly they did not. They did have this strange turtle race which whatever you do don't volunteer as he will make you do a dance contest or something weird, yeah I didn't win but they have hot bodied girls washing your car for tips for some charity... That's kinda cool I was going to have my car washed but then felt bad that it was soooo dirty!! Not a bad place just not the greatest, the bartender I think his name was Tony was personable. Good stuff here! 4 Stars Atmosphere: Nice and spread out into seperate rooms. You can jump right into the action in the bar area if you're in the mood to mingle, or you can find a quiet corner if you just want to enjoy your company. The new bar top is pretty sweet too. Service: No complaints here. My drinks were right and on time, without having to ask I was informed of the specials. (Got a cool Service Industry VIP dog tag too, nice touch!) I was greeted by most of the service staff wether they were serving me or not. Only thing 5 star lacking... I was never offered a menu or suggested any food. Bar: Bar's awesome, glass top with crystals and a neon glow under it. I had a blast for a reasonable price so no complaints about pricing. I got in the mood to mix it up a bit and they carried everything I asked for. Food: Well here's the problem. Dispite quite a few visits, I haven't gone hungry enough to ask for food. Also dispite many visits, I was never offered or suggested food. Now I have heard they have great food... I'll make it a point to try one day! Overall: Good stuff, I like this place... This place seems to be like the typical sports bar. The place was quite busy when I visited so it took a while to get drinks but the servers were friendly and doing their best. When the kids allow mom and dad to sneak out at night, "aka" when my parents agree to babysit, LOL. This is my go to Friday night spot! Yes it's Smokey, and it gets loud, but hey it's FRI-YAY! I'm baffled at some of the poor reviews. It's, in my opinion, what a sports bar should be. (Sports on tvs, pool tables, Golden Tee, air hockey, and Jenga) Granted, I did not eat here, but the place was super clean, the employees were super duper friendly, and they had a very impressive beer & liquor selection (reasonably priced too). This is a cool bar to hang out at with some friends as they have a nice small patio. There was some sort of fight on TV, so it was extremely loud inside the bar area, you'd have to scream at the of your lungs to your friends. Parking sucks here, you have to circle around the lot a few times to get good parking. Other than that, it's the typical bar to go hang out at, and service is pretty good. read more

Stumbled upon this place in search for fried pickles in Addison. Also stumbled upon their dodgeball night. Seems like a cool concept to host a sporting event at a sports bar so I didn't mind it. We sat on the patio to the right of the restaurant. It was a nice quiet, dim area. We ordered the 2 item sample platter ($8.99) which consisted of fried pickles and spin-art dip. BLEGH! The pickles were salty and overcooked to a shrivelling chip. The dip had no artichoke flavor and was a cheesy mess. Couldn't even finish it. Please advise me on a good fried pickles place in Addison that's not called Hooters or Snuffers!! We also ordered the chicken fried steak ($10.99) w/mashed potatoes & broccoli. It was decent but I've certainly have had way better. The batter on the steak was overpowering & made it look 3 times its size. We ordered a couple of millers & a heiny. Our bill came out to around $32 plus $6 tip.. Our waitress was very nice but the food took awhile to come out. I wouldn't come back for any other reason other than that they close at 2am.. sigh. read more

This is one of the FEW sports bars that actually plays the SOUND of the games, instead of music. YAY!! Gets pretty crowded so get there early, if you want a good seat. Love the chicken pizza!! This place has Bar Rescue written all over it. I went based on the relationship/recommendation they have with the Hilton Garden Inn next door where I was staying. For your 15% HGI room key discount you get: --A sub-par Denny's style burger. With seasoned (to the point of being inedible) fries. "Do you have other than seasoned fries?" "Nope". --Stale cigarette smell to the whole place with that run-down feeling (torn bar stools, grunge in the corners, sticky surfaces that sweetly whisper 'hepatitis' if you listen closely enough). --Lots of people on the clock, very few working (just like on Bar Rescue). On the plus side, my Bud Light was cold. That's it. Based on the food quality and service, find another place....if you're staying at the Addison Hilton Garden Inn and you need to eat out, 15% off of crap is still 85% crap. read more

Great service, the wait staff was very attentive even with the crowd on hand or the Mavs vs. Heat. The patio was a bit warm, even after sundown, as the misting fans aren't hooked up yet. Watching the game outside on the "Big Screen Wall" was a great change of pace vs. sitting in the bar!! Been dropping in at The Back 9 on Wednesdays when the gorgeous Whitney is bartending. I have a feeling she's going to have a large and loyal following very soon. Upscale looking place with a great casual atmosphere and friendly staff. Very nicely appointed contemporary look to the place. Reminds me a little bit of the feel at X's and Os in Southlake. Place was really buzzing for the grand opening on April 7th. Great drink specials and they had a DJ. I go more for the bar time/happy hour scene but the food has been great. I'm a seafood fan. So far I've had the fried shrimp basket with natural cut fries and the last time out I had the shrimp scampi with angel hair pasta. Very light and not too heavy on the garlic. Great stuff. I'll probably order the steak next time out. Best part is Whitney though. Amazing bartender. Great personality and one of the prettiest you'll ever meet. I've always have a great time there. It's just...okay. I'm not going to rush back but it was a typical bar with typical bar food and for my added value, an air hockey table. The food was cool, nothing to write home about. Had the Back 9 fries which were greasy but tasty and the Texas burger and the Mexican chicken sandwich. They had $3 wells. Service was fine. Atmosphere was cool. Decided to stop in for a quick drink with a friend and ended up staying for several hours. We were greeted by 2 friendly staff members, offered to seat us at a bar table, but we opted to sit at the bar. The bartenders were friendly and attentive, although one of them periodically made very loud noises. Not sure what that was about! The crowd was very laid back and friendly. Didn't order food, but the food we saw delivered to surrounding tables made us think we would eat here next time. Good selection of draft beer. We were invited to compete with a couple at the Bimini ring game. Loser had to buy shots for the winners. Lots of fun. Too bad we lost! Will definitely be back for a casual night of drinking and fun. read more

I'll keep this short. First time here. Sat at the bar. Ordered Deep Ellum Blonde and an IPA, along with the queso dip and lemon pepper and hot wings. I must say, I was (am, cause I'm still here) impressed. The atmosphere, things to do and the food was amazing! I pass by this place daily and never thought to try it until I we invited to do so. Great music and great food! I had the Black and Blue Burger with bacon added.....YUM! The Friday crowd is A LOT wilder than the Saturday crowd but both nights are fun! Lucky, the bartender is one of the coolest in town and he always hooks it up! Even though smoking is allowed, I wasn't bothered by it like in some bars. I had a very strange experience there tonight. We were having a great time until two of my friends tried to leave. They are both well over 21 and were stopped by the doorman for their IDs. While they were leaving. He practically harassed them and made them very uncomfortable. A few minutes after they left, he "accidentally" stumbled into me from behind while we were playing Jenga and flat out groped me. I was so taken aback I didn't know how to respond. My friend asked to speak to a manager after seeing what happened. The employee then refused to speak to my friend and asked him to leave. My friend was not belligerent, drunk or causing a problem in any way aside from calmly asking to speak to a manager. Eventually the employee said he was the manager. Since he was the issue, we had nothing to say. A few minutes later the actual manager came by and was very apologetic. I work in a restaurant so I know one employee does not make or break a business. The manager was very concerned with what happened and seemed determined to make it right. We were told they were short staffed for St. Patricks day and the offensive employee was a temporary solution. I appreciate the manager's concern and it was obvious that he wanted a second chance to impress us. The manager really cared and that was a good sign. He convinced me to give it another try sometime soon. Aside from that incident, we had a good time. They have a ton of fun games and the drinks weren't terribly priced. The dive bar atmosphere led me to believe it would be a little cheaper but it wasn't expensive. I would be willing to go again as long as the employee in question wasn't present. read more

A friend of mine DJs here on the weekends and have visited a couple of times. Service is always great even when they are crowded. Music is good. Great place to hang out with a bunch of friends and have a drink or two, or three, or till you fall off your chair. Word of warning. If there is a UFC fight on, either come early, or don't come. Stop by here to grab a bite to eat and play poker because I saw it on their website I am very unimpressed. Couldn't tell who the poker tournament director was he was dressed in sweats and a t-shirt that has stains on it poker tables were old dirty and nasty. Had to spend $20 just to get 5000 extra bonus chips. Took 17 minutes to get the waitress's attention then food took another 15 minutes on top of that for a simple appetizer. Tried to order a second drink, girl would never come around even though I was standing up shaking my glass out there trying not to yell out the entire room. She finally came over to take my drink order but the next hand I got knocked out waited for a few minutes on the deck smoking never got my 2nd drink. so I picked up and I left won't be coming back. read more

Called ahead at noon to make sure they were playing the Texas Tech and also LSU games. They said they were so I showed up and hour early to get a table (which wasn't a problem because they were empty anyway.. I wonder why). Halfway through the game they changed the TVs to a UFC fight. 1 person was watching the fight. So that's cool. I will never come here again. The waitress was good but don't tell me you're going to play a game and then change it halfway through and tell me you "can't" play the game I called ahead for and came an hour early to get a table for. Y'all suck. Another group was watching the TCU game and they changed theirs to the UFC fight too... How can you have multiple tables obviously watching the games and change it in the middle? What kind of customer service is that??? My recommendation - don't come here. They seriously don't care about their customers. Just whatever the bartenders want to watch. read more

Walking in, thought my ears were about to burst. Ordered a drink, shouted to my friend across the table, he shouted back at me, and we still couldn't have a conversation. I'm sure there's a very good reason for a bar having their music so loud that you cannot have a conversation with yourself, let alone anyone else. Maybe I'm getting old. One and done. I would've loved to have given this place more stars, but we came for the Kaboomtown show on 7/3/18. I knew there's was a cover, but was frustrated they don't take card for that, so I had to pay $5 for an ATM service fee; funny the guy won't accept cards but brought his own ATM just to gouge people on that $5 fee. Also frustrated that in addition to the $5 cover, they were charging $5 for parking. So I parked at the Hilton behind this place and walked over. Next year I'll remember to bring cash, and go somewhere else, most likely. I can't stand the price gouging BS. read more

Great place to unwind for a late happy hour or weekend evening. The crowd seems to be late 20s and up, which is perfect for us. The beer towers kept flowing and our waitress was friendly and responsive. There's an assortment of arcade machines (Buck Hunter, Golden Tee, etc.), Air Hockey and the ole "Loop on a string hanging from the ceiling that you need to swing over to the hook" game. I don't know what the last one is called but it's good, cheap entertainment. Anyway, the place is a decent spot and I'll be back. I can't believe I have never reviewed Back 9. My husband and I have been coming here since it opened 4+ years ago. Tony is absolutely the best bartender. He remembers our drinks, even when its months since we have been. We love going for football games on Sunday. They are very accommodating to getting audio to our games. We really like the food here, its definitely good bar food. I figure myself a cheese fry connoisseur. The back 9 fries are the best - but everything here is great and we can never decide - The Mexican sandwich, french dip, pizzas, wings, salad, all great! We love the laid back but slightly upscale environment. It can be pretty busy on weekend nights and especially on UFC fight nights, but its always fun - drinks and food are great! We even had one of our wedding receptions here! read more
