I normally golf at OCC and the Sandhills Club, but I golfed here recently for a group event…read more I tried to drive my cart out to my BMW to pick up my clubs and the cart died on me. I thought, "Great, now I need to get a new cart." Then I noticed the computer screen on my cart and it had a message to the effect that I was in a "restricted area" and I had to back up. It wouldn't back up so I had to push it. Once I had pushed the cart back, I noticed the sign about no carts in the parking lot. I asked an employee why this was. "Too many people." What does that have to do with anything? We started playing and I learned that our Big Brother golf carts were programed to prevent the carts from going near the greens. But you just have to guess about exactly where. Occasionally, the computer screen warned you. The computer screen also kept track of your time of play and if you were "behind" some hypothetical pace of play. Who decides what is the correct amount of time? Later, Barney Fife tells is that we are behind by 18 minutes and we have to pick it up at the turn. The thing of it was the group behind never had to wait and they weren't pressing us. I come out for a relaxing round of golf with my friends and somehow I'm on the hypothetical clock, Big Brother is watching my cart and Barney Fife is ready to indict me for a non-existent crime. Not good. The course itself is average at best. The thing of it is that Mr. Market will soon be putting this real estate to its highest and best use as a mixed use residential and commercial subdivision. Those Big Brother golf carts are really pernicious. Nearly wrecked my round, but I was able to rise above the machines.

2 Stars - Scheels is great overall, but not for hockey…read more Scheels is a great store for a lot of sporting goods, but if you're looking for hockey equipment, I would honestly recommend going somewhere else. My son recently started getting into hockey, and we went there hoping to get some help with skates and gear. Unfortunately, it was clear pretty quickly that the hockey department just doesn't have staff with much hockey knowledge. Whether it was skates, sticks, or general equipment questions, there really wasn't anyone who seemed confident or experienced enough to help. The most frustrating experience was when we purchased skates and were told they had been sharpened by the Scheels staff. After my son had a very negative experience on the ice, we took the skates to a rink, and the staff there confirmed the blades had not actually been sharpened. That kind of thing makes a big difference, especially when someone is just starting the sport. If you're serious about hockey equipment, save yourself the frustration and go somewhere that specializes in it. Prices are very competitive elsewhere, and the staff actually care and know what they're doing. Pure Hockey on 72nd is absolutely worth the trip. Scheels does a lot of things well, but hockey just doesn't seem to be one of them.

First off, I'll say that I have never played golf here. This review really is just about the…read moreclubhouse and gift certificate purchase I made. The clubhouse is a lot smaller than I expected. It looks pretty standard, nothing fancy, but there were quite a few people eating lunch when I popped in to get a gift. If you want to purchase a gift certificate, go in the main doors and then head to the pro shop off to the left. The pro shop itself is very small and quite cramped. I understand they wanted to make the most of the space in terms of retail products, but it feels like everything's on top of each other, and there's not a lot of room to stand if there's two or more people in line at the cashier. When I told the employee that I wanted to buy a gift card, he audibly sighed and said "oh boy, OK"in a negative tone. Right off the bat, this did not give me a positive impression. I asked him if everything was OK and he just said "yeah I can't really remember how to sell these." His attitude was just negative overall throughout the transaction. He did get it figured out, but it took him a few minutes, and while I was waiting a few people stacked up in the line behind me. There was another employee behind the desk and it seemed like he should be able to help out somehow, but he just stood there and didn't do anything. It also struck me as not the best customer service as if you're coming into pay, I know tee times are very specific and waiting a long time could make you late.
