Me and my wife went into the back room boutique last night seeking to buy some things to spice up our sex life. From the moment we walked into the store, we were followed around with employees hiding behind racks so they could watch every step we made. Then there was one employee who just followed us and stood about 50 feet away with her arms crossed and giving us an evil glare. At one point I even said to her that she was making us very uncomfortable by treating us like we were thieves or something. Im 50 years old and this was truly the worst and most uncomfortable store ive ever been in. All the employees were extremely rude and made it impossible for us to even look around to see what we wanted. I love their Ladies Night and their selection. I have been to this store many times and am always happy I came. I never leave with under $100.00 worth of merchandise but that is my choice. I had one item go bad on me and it was replaced despite the nature of the object. Most of the staff is very knowledgeable (male and female) but I am not shy and have no problem discussing my needs with either sex about sex. I stopped in here a few weeks back just to check it out and see what the store had to offer. The store is extremely huge but they do not use the space as wisely as they could. There is so much empty space in the middle of the facility as well as on the walls. They could really ramp up their merchandise and their shoe selection as well. I thought the prices were a little on the high end but they had a few nice items to offer. I ended up buying some fishnet tights but that was all. I can not consciously shop or walk in there without the creepy gaze of the male employer who I overheard talking to the other female employees about how certain other customers bought certain items and then procedded to make guesses at what those older (fat old or whatever he called them) would do with those products. I had a great experience at your boutique. This was the first time my conservative 58 year old boyfriend had ever been in any kind of lingerie shop! I'm not sure what he expected when he walked in he was nervous and shy. But then we met DEE!! If you're lucky enough to have her working she is extremely knowledgeable and so easy and comfortable talking to her. I felt like I was with a friend which is so important in that business. Do not buy through the website! I received a broken item and sent it back for a refund which I still haven't received over a year later. I have emailed numerous times and the woman Ruth Wohl keeps claiming she used paypal to refund my money. I didn't pay with paypal. I don't have that connected to the purchase at all. My bank has no information about the refund and neither does paypal. The store in town was told and offered no help at all. I will be driving to Marysville to shop at Famously Naughty from now on, and will most definitely avoid Backroom Boutique if this issue doesn't get resolved. I exclaimed "Oh My Gosh, how long has this been here? About 20 years one says. I had come into town to pick up pizza so I was only able to shop for a few. I would guess there is about 2000sqft of everything one could want. From garter belts to glass dildos, to a real live sex swing on display. While I often joke around, or exagerate things within my reviews, I do take them as a serious portrayl of my actual opinion on a business. When an owner recognizes potential problems from customers, and steps up to own and correct those issues, I feel it is then only appropriate to give them another chance. Backroom Boutique is one such instance, and I must say, our most recent experience was nothing but positive. First, the gal who was providing customer service was a very marked improvement over the sales individuals from several years back (at least when we visited). She was friendly, forthcoming, and helpful. The selection is quite large with quite an array of products; they had a pretty astounding selection of "personal massagers" which impressed us most, having many of the higher-end products out on display. The prices were pretty decent; its obviously hard for a mom and pop shop to compete with online juggernauts, but their prices weren't that much higher, and for being able to actually see and test out (in your hand, sickos) the various products made that little cost very easy to accommodate. The selection and variety of such products has grown exponentially, and I definitely recommend seeing them in person as an online description pales in comparison. The only thing that I've seen done better, and would be somewhat interesting to see done here in our own town, is in comparison to a store called Salzers down in Ventura, which is more of an 'alternative lifestyle' store, is tying in different products. Salzers focuses on music, but also has a nice pipe and adult store built within, and with a teeny touch of Spencers gag-prop business as well. Backroom Boutique does have some pipes (although they are getting rid of them I believe), but I would think part of their potential failure in this store would stem from people just not knowing they even sell such products. But that's obviously just a different business possiblity, and BB does a great job at being an adult store. Certainly if they could something to still liven it up a little more it could be even better (I still despise slat-walls), but there's not much I could really say is 'wrong' with their current setup either. I'm originally from the bay area and this is seriously the best adult shop i have ever been to. This is better than Frenchy's in Santa Cruz, and I liked it better than anything i have seen in San Francisco too. I came here last year with my fiance for a little adventure, and we spent 100$. The best thing about this place was everything was reasonably priced so I was able to get a little bit of everything! They asked if you needed assistance and when I said no they left me alone until I asked for help.
