Yuba Blue is located in the Grass Valley town square. They have multiple sections that are broken down in to housewares, clothing and accessories. It's like 3 stores in 1! There are some well priced items like hats, scarves and quirky PJ's and then some pricier bags and clothing. Cute shop in town and part of an array of other locally owned businesses in the square. I enjoy seeing what's around in each season, though I haven't made a purchase yet. Definitely fun to browse. read more

Yuba Blue is dangerous in the very best way. We walked in just to look and somehow left with arms full of beautiful, special, ridiculously wearable, buttery-soft treasures that basically insisted on coming home with us. This is the kind of store where everything feels a little magical--like, "Oh no... I need this immediately." The whole place smells amazing the second you walk in, which should honestly be considered part of the seduction strategy. It's warm, inviting, gorgeous, and full of the kind of pieces that make you feel like a more fabulous version of yourself the minute you touch them. The help was wonderful--friendly, fun, and easy in that perfect way that makes shopping feel like an adventure instead of a chore. There was laughter, there was humor, there was spontaneous female bonding with other customers over shared admiration of soft things and good taste... basically, the vibes were immaculate. Prices here are VERY reasonable! I was able to find some nice soft and warm house slippers at a super price. They have all kinds of cool stuff here and the ladies seem to love it here as they have lots of fantastic dresses and clothing. I would definitely recommend this shop. I'm really disappointed with my experience at Yuba Blue. They knowingly sell dresses from the brand Angie, which even their own staff admitted is "quantity over quality." Every single one of the dresses I bought shrank so badly after one gentle wash (literally washed on a gentle cycle, cold water, no heat, dried on delicate) that they're now multiple sizes too small and completely unwearable. When I called to ask about it, the woman on the phone told me that I should have followed the care instructions on the inside tag apparently, even the water temperature can change how much they shrink. Honestly, I think it's ridiculous that clothing at this price point is so cheaply made that it requires that much special treatment just to avoid becoming unwearable. I don't usually spend much money on clothes, but I saved up and splurged on these dresses for myself. Now I feel like I wasted my money on low-quality items that should never have been sold at this price in the first place. Yuba Blue, if you know this brand is such poor quality, why are you still selling it? Customers deserve better. read more

It's impossible to have a good experience with Yuba Blue when I go to shop 20 minutes before closing and the ladies take the racks inside as I'm looking at two dresses I'd taken off the rack to try on. I had the need for a summer dress and I'm a fast shopper. I won't return due to their rudeness. Telling me they'll be open tomorrow. Obviously they'd rather not have my money! They were still open. Why list hours when they aren't truly how long you will ring my purchase up? Poor business behavior by your staff. read more

What a wonderful store with everything you might need. They have cozy slippers to wind chimes, buddhas and gorgeous rock works of art. They also have clothing, purses and scarfs. The customer service was outstanding and the quality of goods were of great Quality. This is the kind of place to spend some time browsing and I am sure you will take home a treasure or two. The street parking is a little challenging, but they have a 3 hour limit free. I love Grass Valley and all the unique shops you come across. Not any more!!! Lived here for 25 years now. Whenever a friend or family member come to Grass valley, I always take them to Yuba Blue. I've spent a lot of money there, especially when mom comes in town. Not any more! Its the little things. The ladies have ALWAYS been friendly, and recognize me. Down to business. Bought my Flojo's flip flops there again, surprised to see they are $ 41.00 now, I told the girl online they were $ 24 but that's ok, I try to buy local. So these came apart in three months. Took them back in. The pleasant young lady behind the counter said she had another lady bring a pair in with the same issue two weeks earlier. A "manager" walked by, 5'7 blond, glasses I think. We briefly discussed this with her and asked if she would return them for another..., she very nastily said, "nope" and very rudely walked on. I'm done!! No more Yuba Blue!!! I owned a firm for 40 years, I would never act like that to anyone. With that attitude alone, they will be another vacant storefront soon!! read more

I'm a long time local. Shop locally often. In my 60's. The staff in here are not very friendly. They obviously don't trust anyone who walks through their door. I placed an order over the phone in mid April letting buyer know I would be there this past weekend to pick it up. I come from the Bay Area to visit a friend and always visit Yuba Blue about 4 times a year. I received a call about two weeks ago telling me my order was in and I asked her to be sure it was kept in a place where it couldn't be sold. She assured me 100%. No one could find it and the manager would not call the buyer to ask what happened or where it was because it was her day off. The cashier, and a manager assured me that someone would call me yesterday or today to see what happened. No call yesterday and I just called them at 4:30 pm today. Manager very apologetic and said they weren't putting in an order but when they do she'd let me know. In my opinion you put in a special order. I did not suggest that. She should have. She then passed me on to another manager after I said the customer service was poor. This manager said she didn't know what happened apologized again...they usually leave notes/check with each other but no one had. She said she'd send me the order free of charge then backpedaled and quickly said she'd discount it. I told her no thanks I don't want it, poor customer service. I realize people make mistakes but what bothered me most was all of the apologies, assurances and them bending over backwards and as it turned out felt so unauthentic. I loved that store but won't be shopping there anymore. read more

I loved it so much that when I planned this trip from Los Angeles to Grass Valley, I immediately included Yuba Blue on my need to visit list. I am so so sad to say that I went in today to look around and find my next favorite thing from here, and was treated so rudely by one of the girls working here. I was looking at the shoes and a tall, skinny straight haired blonde girl rudely asked me if, and I quote, if she could "get me a size or something". It totally killed my mood for shopping here and honestly made me feel so bad, because I was excited to be here again. I really like this store! They have recently expanded too, so there is not the same jam packed feeling as before. I totally get what Yelper Debbie I. said about the shoplifting thing. I thought it was all in my head! Yet there was someone "tailing" me the whole time. Kind of annoying. The clothes are very cute, in that boutique-y kind of way. I love this store but, be prepared to spend a lot of money because it is pretty expensive! I have been here a hand full of times with my mom when we browsed they stores in old town Grass Valley. I didn't realize this store is actually pretty big; there are three stores in one. When you walk in, the first section of the store is a boutique with clothing for women with the cutest work clothes ever (think Reese Witherspoon in Legally Blond), delicate clothing like lingerie and shoes are located in the back by the dressing rooms. On the left hand side of Yuba Blue is a beauty shop with all kinds of amazingly delicious smelling bubble baths, bath bombs, hand lotions and lip balms. On the right hand side of the store resembles somewhat of a gift shop that contains items for your kitchen, greeting cards, chocolates and so much more. I found a sweatshirt I fell in love with; it was a ski sweatshirt and I tried it on and my heart fell to the ground when I noticed it cost $80; eek! My mom had me try it on for her and (being the sweet mom that she is), she loved the sweatshirt on me and bought it for me (otherwise, I would not have bought it for myself)! She also bought me some vanilla scented bubble bath ($17) yikes! I love this store and I recommend coming here if you are ever in the area but be careful because you will be tempted to buy almost everything you see and pay a pretty penny for it. read more

Holly yashi earrings are the best! Wow what a nice little shop in downtown Grass Valley. There is so much too look at, I easily spent two hours in this store and came back after lunch. Buying earrings in this store was addictive, there was so much variety and they were all beautiful. They also have a variety of clothing and amazing shoes! I bought a wonderful, cute, green pair of clarks here and have been wearing them at work and I always get compliments on them. I also bought a pair of leather slip on shoes. I saw a US flag scarf that I knew would be a perfect gift for my patriotic friend. Overall I gave this place a lot of business an would be happy to return for more. They've changed the merchandise layout but this store is still wonderful. My favorite part is the section where they have soaps, lotions and that sort of thing. I got some great gift ideas and saw items I've never seen before! The staff is still friendly, genuinely happy and helpful. This store has three sections: bath/body, clothing/shoes, and home accessories. I did not look in the home accessories area much, but it seemed like they had lots of decent knickknacks. We're trying to reduce knickknacks, so I chose to avoid that area. Bath/body - seemed like a nice selection of items, but I didn't get anything. I'm a bit of a lotion hoarder, so I really was not in need of any items like that. Clothing - here's where I differ from some of the reviews. I thought the clothing selection here, while reasonably priced, seemed of lesser quality to me. A bit bohemian (i.e., I could find similar stuff in Berkeley) and....cheap. They do have quite a bit of merchandise, so you could spend a while browsing here. After scanning the racks, I chose to pass over the clothing. I did buy some undergarments. Shoes - pretty decent selection of shoes here. I saw a few pairs I liked, but didn't buy any (also a shoe hoarder). Good mix of comfort shoes and cute shoes. Overall, OK store for browsing. As I mentioned I bought some beautiful soaps for beaucoups bucks. The flowers leached into the soap and discolored them. Now normally, I would not complain about what in my mind was a faulty product, but they blew me off when I let them know I was unhappy with the product. I run a B and B. I use a damn lotta soap. Yuba Blue is a gem. Period. The best browsing store in town, no matter who you are and what your interests include! They truly have something unique for practically everyone. Granted, it will probably cost a little more than average store prices, but the quality standard is there to support the price, and they do have a great range of prices. Going into the Christmas season, I will definitely be stopping by there soon to shop for those last few impossible people to shop for, because they always have something unique and fun to give. Even if you find yourself in downtown Grass Valley with just a little time to kill, this store fits the bill. I come to Yuba Blue every time I'm in Grass Valley. It's a great store with a TON of items to look at and it flows nicely from one section to the next, I seriously spend HOURS in here. But, sadly, I never buy. The items are really overpriced and the clothes NEVER fit. I wear a size 10, but their 10s fit more like a 2. And FORGET about trying to find anything larger than a "12" (which is really a 4). It's really disappointing and frankly sucks, because I would have spent $1000s by now. While the sales staff is extremely friendly over all and especially in the Housewares section, the girls that work in the clothing section literally stalk you!! It's THE MOST uncomfortable shopping experience ever and as soon as I take something off the rack to look at a little closer, they try to snatch it away to "hold" at the counter for me. WHOA there Becky, slow your roll, I'm just looking. Not that it would fit anyhow. This is usually about the time that I leave. Trust me, start in the Homewares section and work your way over to clothing so you don't feel like a criminal the moment you step in the door.
