ZERO services were rendered by Baker Events. They were not out any money on our behalf, ZERO food had been ordered, ZERO booze had been used, and ZERO staff had been scheduled. When approached with a 50/50 split on money returned, because we understand the trying times and wanted to see a fruitful outcome for both parties. I was greeted with an unwavering condescendence and a confidentiality agreement. Stating... we will not get even our deposit back without signing away our ability to express our dissatisfaction with them on any and all public forums. The refund of my deposit is NOT contingent on me signing this release per my original event contract, mind you this is the contract language that they are using to uphold the force majure clause to protect themselves. And you won't see a dime without it. They have deactivated the option to see or write a review on their Facebook because of the backlash they are receiving from their lack of professional courtesy to their clients. We would love to release them from liability, but it's going to take more than our deposit to restore the loss large numbers of couples, including myself, have felt with Baker Events high and dry approach. Take the stress out of wedding planning and DO NOT BOOK WITH THEM. You won't get what you paid for if you do.

It was about a 10 minute walk from the venue so it worked out great! No bathroom lines! Women's restroom had dozens of stalls. They were out of soap in many of the sinks though. Food prices were what you could expect. We paid $15 for chicken tenders and fries. You can bring in a bottle of water so that helped! You can also refill your water as well. Our seats were easy to locate. The screens were awesome to see the show. Fairly easy getting exiting the venue too! We will be back again!

We really appreciated being able to decorate and rehearse the night before -- it made the whole wedding weekend feel much less stressful and more organized. Having both the ceremony and reception in the same building was also so convenient for us and our guests. The bar service was excellent. The bartenders were fast and friendly, the coordinator and staff was amazing to work with, and Distinctive Catering did a fantastic job. Great food and Drinks, and even helpful service with buffet. We also loved the DJ they recommended through Complete Wedding + Events. The day-of coordinators were especially wonderful -- they did such a great job converting the ceremony space into a lounge area during cocktail hour while incorporating all of my decor used in the ceremony to the reception perfectly. All the little details were handled without having to ask. Overall, we couldn't have asked for a better experience and would absolutely recommend the Waddell Center to other couples looking for a beautiful, affordable, and well-organized venue!

The two white, male bartenders assigned to her event were not friendly to the guests, creating an off-putting atmosphere right from the start. To make matters worse, several guests overheard the bartenders making racial comments about probably not receiving any tips. This behavior is utterly unacceptable, disgusting and was clearly racially motivated. Given that their wedding was attended primarily by Black and Brown guests we knew exactly why they said it! Absolutely a racist trope that we don't tip or tip well. Multiple guests complained to the bride, groom and/or someone in wedding party about this. It is deeply troubling that a venue they entrusted with such a special occasion would employ individuals who clearly harbor racial bias. All I will say is that minority couples need to be aware. No one should have to worry or deal with this bs on their special day nor should their guests.

When you've had a drink or two, it's all just throwing balls and knocking things over. Woodrows Duckpin is the only duckpin bowling alley in Grand Rapids, as far as I can tell. It's a great place to get a drink and knock things over. In fact, you should be aware that you can only get things to drink here -- they don't sell any food. But you're welcome to bring in your own food. We opted to just get beverages (sodas for kids, beer and wine for the adults) and eat elsewhere after we played. You can reserve a lane for an hour at a time. An hour of duckpin bowling was more than enough for me and my family! Games go by quickly, and I think we played three games in about 45 minutes, then peaced-out with 15 minutes left on our tab. (But we had our fun and got our money's worth.) Duckpin bowling uses smaller balls that are more lightweight than regular bowling balls, so it's easier for young kids to play. Think skee ball, but on a slightly larger scale. Honestly, I think I prefer duckpin bowling to regular bowling! It feels more laid-back and less serious. There's a nice lounge in Woodrows Duckpin, which is pleasant to sit in when you're not playing, or if you're waiting for your lane to be ready. Woodrows is also attached to the Amway Grand Plaza, so if you're staying at that hotel, it's just a quick jaunt downstairs.

The beef was like shoe leather and beyond cutting with the knife they had on the table. The pasta had more vinegar than pasta and the potatoes were like glue. The bread dry enough to be used for stuffing but not eaten with meal. Certain with better preparation on the meal that would match the extra great service and personalities of the staff operating it most would have a 5 STAR experience.

She came in on a Sunday so my husband could see the venue after we booked. We walked into our rehearsal and Karri and her team were literally ON THE FLOOR attaching my welcome sign to a foam board so it looked better than what I had originally delivered to them. I had very specific requests for music and timing during our ceremony, they figured it out with ease and it was literally perfect. The staff was AWESOME. We had a medical emergency during our reception which they handled with ease and professionalism. They were so kind and accommodating to all of us. Finally, the space is to die for. We took pictures in the basement and they were the best pictures of all that my photographer got - gorgeous light in a beautiful setting. The set-up of the venue is perfect. I've been to so many weddings where you're either traveling to one setting to another, or there's a long wait between events, and it really drags the whole day down. Our guests went seamlessly from one spot to the next. I have no complaints, only excessive gratitude for the team at the Harris.
