This was just my first visit of many, but I'm happy with it. I checked in on their website before walking down Broad St to get my haircut. Upon arrival, I checked in at the front desk (basically just walked up and said I'm here). I was greeted very friendily (is that a word?). My wait time was less than five minutes due to the online waitlist. Summer cut my hair and did a great job. Honestly, I've been going to those quick in and out salons, and it's always inconsistent. I went into the shop without an appointment this afternoon and put my name on the list. They do appointments and walk-ins. After waiting about 30:minutes, I thought I would have to leave because I had another place to be. the Christine appeared. She was waiting on an appointment who was running late. Seeing the anxious look on my face, she took me in. Of course, as soon as I sat in the chair, her client showed up. she explained to him the situation and cut my hair first. she was pleasant and professional. Unprofessional is the word I'd use here. Got the 2 worst haircuts of my life back to back here. Reached out with a private message to the owner regarding them, and she didn't even bother to respond. Not an I'm sorry, not a question, nothing. If management doesn't care if their customers get bad cuts, then I have to assume that's the level of service that's expected there. Though I've heard she hates poor reviews and will respond with vitriol and things like "how dare you try and harm a local small business etc." Well, my experience has been poor, review deserved. AMAZING!! My first time to a "barber shop" and let me tell you this...if you're someone like me who has traditionally spent $50-$100 on a hair cut at one of the "upscale salons" then you owe it to yourself to check out this place. I was in town for a few days and had just gotten my hair cut literally 4 days earlier at an place in NYC while traveling. Unfortunately it was jacked-up. Totally uneven and a mess. I looked at Yelp and Broad Street had the best reviews so I thought what the heck. I was a little nervous when I arrived as you put your name on a list and you are called as space becomes available. I was also looking at those waiting and candidly I was like...you don't look stylish at all ...wonder if I'm in the right place. Glad I stuck around as the cut was totally transformative and probably the best I've had in years. And get this...she charged me $10!!! She said I just fixed what the other person messed-up so $10 is fine. Are you kidding me!! I've not paid less than $50 for a hair cut in the last 10 years. Guys, all I can comment on is my experience. I take pride in how I look, and if you want a modern, age appropriate style. This place gets it. Will I be back? You're damn right. read more

This place is very old school mens barber right down to the barber pole outside. I walked in having never been and noticed there was a sign in sheet so I added my name to the list. There was maybe 4 or 5 people ahead of my on the list but, I needed to get a haircut that day so I didn't mind waiting. The waiting area is right outside the shop. A few regular chairs and then a a couple old school barber chairs to sit in. Time flew by and they called my name in no time. They really no how to move people in and out of there. This for me was a bit of a downfall. Coming from a stylist I knew for years (who's now moving) and looking to find someone new, I didn't feel all that comfortable. I'm sure it takes time but with the lack of front desk and then just getting called in regardless of which barber was available just didn't feel right. Now this doesn't mean that Jen didn't do a great job because she did. I just prefer a place that's a little more relaxed and a little less business. If you're looking for good and fast, Broad Street's the place. I personally would like to get to know the person who's working with me and enjoy a beer or whiskey while I do it. Instead I felt rushed and didn't get a rinse after leaving me itchy for the rest of the day. This place is perfect for many people as the reviews suggest, just maybe not for me. If you go, I would definitely recommend Jen. As I mentioned above, she gave a great cut. read more

Just a quick word, call it a review or whatever. Went in today and had a beard trim with Jen. No waiting today for more than a minute or so. Today was the very first time that I have been anywhere and personally (yes, face to face) thanked for a Yelp review! So, remember this when you give a review that the folks who work at a place will be reading your reviews. And again today, I had an excellent experience in this shop. And, yes, there is one (1) free parking spot in the Berlin's lot right around the corner (across from Berlin's on King Street). Kelsey was not only professional given a difficult situation (this guy came in and totally flipped out on her because no one who works there is vaccinated... hello, a personal choice), but also gave me a really good cut! If you're worried about vaccinated people at places, just wear a mask when you go in. I did because I have a situation that warrants me to be a little overly careful these days. But if you patronize this business please don't treat anyone here like crap if they're just trying to do their jobs. I love to get my hair cut at the Broad Street Barber. The women who work here are all very pleasant, especially Cyndi. The haircut is thorough but doesn't take too long, and the feel is very comfortable, very inviting. It's much nicer to walk around downtown and get a haircut here than to walk around inside the mall and end up at the Hair Cuttery. Broad Street Barber is just a few dollars more, and well worth it. Their haircut was great and the staff were very friendly. However, the online check in system is a complete farce. I checked in around 3:40pm, and it said it would be a 1hr45 minute wait. No problem at all, as I was still needing to finish up the workday. Around 4:30, I used the texted link to check my wait time again, and it said 35-45 minutes. I wrapped up what I was doing and walked down there. When I got there and sat in the waiting area (at 5pm), I checked the wait time again. It now said 55-65 minutes. I was extremely confused. While I was waiting, I would check the wait time from my texted link...it kept sporadically changing from 24 minutes, to 1 minute, to 14 minutes. I ended up sitting there until 6:30, keeping in mind that they closed at 6. I was grateful that I was able to still get a haircut, since it was sitting there for an hour and a half. As this was my first time visiting the shop, I felt like my time was not respected. read more

Overall v good. Walked in for a quick haircut got seated right away with Anna she asked a couple of question then she got busy. All chairs in one small room played the trivia questions written on the daily chalkboard which was unique getting the customer engaged....nice. Friendly barbers and in an old-school barbershop atmosphere but really mediocre and overpriced haircuts. The girl who cut my hair was very sweet but I had to fix my haircut by myself afterwards even though I wasn't requesting anything fancy or unique. I would only recommend this place if you were in a pinch and couldn't make it to another barbershop around town for some reason. I've been going to Broad Street Barber shop the past four years. This past experience really sold me on the fact that I will never go again. I had Kelsey and it was like she had never cut hair before and there was no professionalism at all. I had bald spots all around, she missed my neck, and the attitude was outrageous. I went back to try to fix the issues but nothing was resolved. I've had excellent haircuts from other barbers at that shop, however, Kelsey is nothing of the sort. read more

Really nice place. I asked for a flat top, not a common cut anymore, and my barber said: "Hang on, she can do it much better." I moved over one chair and the manager did the cut. It was terrific.
