What a great end to an already great day in Prince Edward County. We came for dinner after being delighted by the vinegars at Black Prince Winery and the liquors at Kinsip Spirits. FYI the gps took us to a collection of buildings called The Warehouse which contains a fancy lodge, a reception area, and a few other things. This restaurant is located past/behind the Reception building and immediately adjacent to the Cookery. Perhaps because of the hot weather and perhaps because it was a Monday night, there was almost no one there and we got the pick of any of the dining areas they offered (garden area, dining room, bar, standard, and patio). We opted for the patio and enjoyed being the only ones there even though it was a bit warm. Seriously, this place is huge and can probably accommodate 100 tables or more despite it looking like a cute, ivy-covered, European-inspired cottage. We opted for the Crispy Chicken Sandwhich and the Fish and Chips plus a beer (Parson's Westy Pale Ale). Our server was so sweet, bubbly, and helpful. I wish I could remember her name but she had long dark hair worn back in a ponytail. She knew a lot about the menu, including the sweets, and helped us choose the Coconut Cream Pie for dessert. The food itself was delicious! Chicken in the CCS was sweet and tangy with great texture and crisp, and the sandwhich was really well balanced with the pickles and slaw. I love me some spice, so I would have opted for a spicy sauce over a sweet one, but it was still a great sandwhich. The house salad it came with was yummy too--greens, cucumbers, and carrots with pepitas and a creamy apple cider dressing. I didn't try the fried fish in the FnC, but SO said it was pretty good. The fries were perfectly cooked and seasoned with flaked sea salt. The Coconut Cream Pie was excellent. The pie filling was light and creamy and not super sweet, and the crust was definitely homemade graham cracker with a lot of extra sweetness to complement the light filling. I must say it wasn't the best CCP I have ever had (Tartine in San Francisco makes one simply out of this world) but it was still really nice. Overall, great experience and will return.

Condiments were placed on top of chicken that had been sitting in the fireplace for over an hour.

Great food, service, and setting. We had the fish and chips, fish tacos, & the green Thai curry; all were perfect.

Higher-end pub fare with a focus on local ingredients. Service was prompt, but it wasn't terribly busy. Good beer list.

When we got there my friends did not have the ID with them which didn't allow us to get in, one of them had the student ID with their date of birth and when she went there to ask the guy that was asking for those he was rude and talking at her. We decided to have food outside since they had half price, when we sat we had to called the waiter because he was just ignoring us, I asked him about the wings, price and kind which he had not idea of what he was selling. So we went inside to ask for the menu since we didn't get any. The bouncer (the guy who denied the entrance and the one who yelled at my friend) he came to me (I had the ID) and start yelling at me telling me I can't be there because we don't have the ID and there is a bar, I told him to be more polite and talk to me better since we are buying food which he just respond screaming that he is the bouncer and we have to leave and doesn't matter that we are buying food. Awful experience, this was our first time going to that restaurant and this was the service that we got. These kids that were working tonight do not have any idea of customer service.

The food every-time I order it is always up to par. The atmosphere, the people; it's always a great place to come everyday, it's definitely my home away from home. I've met so many amazing people here; from the regulars, to the employees, to the owners; they are such great people to get to know and to become friends with. When I wanna go for lunch or dinner or a night of drinking; I choose The Mansion. When I'm either drinking at home or out at other bars in the Kingston area I ALWAYS end up at The Mansion for last call. It's not only close to home; The Mansion is home.

This was by far the worst experience I have ever had at a restaurant in my life…read more Most of the tables in the restaurant were filthy, we had to sit at a table that clearly hadn't been wiped down and even once we sat down and got menus no one offered to clean it. We waited almost 20 minutes just to have someone come and take our drink orders; because it took so long we went ahead and ordered our food as well. We waited probably 45 minutes to get our food order, which consisted of two sandwiches and fries. They had 5 staff members working on the floor and apparently 7 in the kitchen and the place wasn't not even half full. It was extremely disorganized, it was like everyone that worked on the dining floor did everything everywhere just trying to scoop up whatever tables they could. We were there for over 2 hours and no one even came and offered us another drink after we had been waiting so long for our meal. We could hear one of the cooks in the kitchen yammering about how at least he wasn't drunk today, which was completely inappropriate. You walk in and it looks like maybe someone is supposed to seat you but there's no one at all even near the front entrance and there's no sign saying to seat yourself. Two different tables got up and left in the time we were there because they were sick of waiting for service. Once we finally got our food it was mediocre at best. We had empty plates and cups for nearly 20 minutes before our server FINALLY brought us our bill. It was overpriced for the portions and quality of food. While we were paying our server finally acknowledged the slow service by making excuses saying "Sorry it was so slow, it's really busy" my husband looked right at him and said "Really, it doesn't look very busy in here, it's more than half empty." And then the server tried to say that it was because everyone comes in at once off the ferry. Stop making excuses it just makes it worse and that was all we got after being there way too long. I absolutely, will not return and I will never recommend to anyone.

I can't say much about the contrast between before and after, but I loved the after when I visited this past weekend. The patio is great; there is a bar outside, as well as three tiers to choose from. We opted for the low level, closest to the water. We didn't realize until later that it was a smoking section (who knew those are still available places?!), but that didn't bother us because for 90% of our visit we were the only people on that section. The menu options were told to us by our server; a range of brunch options including: standard breakfast, french toast, huevo rancheros, a burger and a few other items. I had the standard breakfast, which came with two soft poached eggs, home fries (hold the toast for me please!), yogurt, and a mix of both bacon AND prosciutto! That was a real treat. They also do pitchers of white and red sangria, and we really enjoyed the white. I'm looking forward to more visit tot the Island Grill already.
