Great spot with really good service. We had the best fish tacos ever (and I got fish tacos often). They had shaved fennel in the taco and the sauce is a hint spicy. Great salad was very fresh. Would come back anytime.

County Canteen was recommended by our bed and breakfast host as a local favourite. Got the nachos to start. Either we're piranhas or they were just that good because everything was all gone in ten minutes. I ordered the mussels next which came in a delicious sauce of fennel, tomato and garlic and one loaf of bread for dipping. Save for one bad mussel, the dish was light, flavourful and perfect for a summer night. Live music, good food, cool vibes. 10/10 would return!

A close friend from Vancouver was visiting the 'East Coast' (I suppose this is all relative) for the week. For the weekend, we decided to explore Prince Edward County with another pal who's based in Georgetown. We stayed in Picton in a little place just off of Main Street. On Saturday night, we decided to explore downtown after an eventful day cruising around the County and checking out wineries. Thanks to Yelp for directing me here! The County Canteen has a small patio; there's also a spacious dining room inside. The decor is eclectic with hipster staff walking around. It was packed so without a reservation we were told that it would be an hour wait. We decided to go to the bar to grab drinks as we waited. The County Canteen has a lot of beers and ciders on tap; there's something for everyone's taste. Once seated at a table, we had an opportunity to check out the menu. And if you'd like to know, the wait time ended up being much shorter. The menu had something for everyone, even for the pickiest of eaters. I had the fish tacos (who doesn't love tacos in the summer) with a Peach+Blackberry cider. Great ambiance, excellent service, and delicious food made the CC a 4-star restaurant. Good for: groups, dinner, drinks

Good service, decent food and drinks. Music was good and best of all they could accommodate our group of 6 during covid restrictions. The chicken sandwich was great. It was a casual relaxed vibe in downtown Picton. While maybe not our first choice, glad we tried it!

In the lovely town of Picton where you have many choices of restaurants and places to eat, the County Canteen hits the spot. Decor (5/5) I love the exposed brick and ambiance in this place. The colours work well, has a really cozy feel to it. Service (4/5) Our waiter was good, recommended some great options and always checked in on us. It wasn't as enthusiastic as a waiter should appear to be, but he was good Food ( 5/5) I had the burger and wifey had the fish tacos. Excellent!

Canteen korma curry - great presentation but a bit bland

Great beer selection emphasising local craft breweries with slightly better than average food. Overall, I would recommend if you want a casual evening in Picton and are interested in trying out some local drinks. I got a beer tasting flight and my server was very helpful in recommending some choices since I wasn't familiar with all the local craft breweries. He spent the time getting to know what I like and finding the right brews for me! The food was okay but nothing to rave about - had the fresh spring rolls which came with a really interesting peanut sauce, and the veggie curry which was a bit on the bland side.

Fun vibe. Local beers on tap. Casual hipster place. Would return. We had a table of seven and the server was always keeping us topped up and laughing. A night of drinks only would be fun here.

When my wife and I were going to be making a random stop in Belleville for a couple nights, I did…read moremy thing and looked up what to do and eat while in town. I'm from an even smaller town, so I'm used to short lists for those things, but I was glad when I randomly came across The Lark. It wasn't on one of the review sites or a travel blog, but just simply perusing the downtown landscape on Google Maps. Their space on Bridge Street is airy and spacious, but the small footprint keeps things intimate, with a stunning bar that beckons to slake your thirst. Although the restaurant's name isn't on-the-nose Italian, the menu is very much so. With a handful each of primi, secondi and dolci, chances are that you won't suffer from choice paralysis while ordering, but what they have is nonetheless quite enticing. Burrata is always an easy choice, especially at a restaurant like The Lark where you know you're going to get good quality cheese and accoutrements. They didn't disappoint! The milky, semi-solid cheese paired well with tender hunks of sweet butternut squash and the crisp savouriness of fried sage. Pomegranate seeds and hazelnuts brought some sweetness and crunch, while house-made sourdough was good enough to be eaten on its own. For my main, I went with the beef cheek pappardelle. The succulent shreds of cheek took the place of ground beef in the rich Bolognese, and my taste buds were all the better for it. The fresh pappardelle was luxuriously tender, with its delicate folds sopping up all that delicious sauce. Rounded out with parm and basil, it shows that you don't have to recreate the wheel to make an excellent dish. My wife's brown butter gnocchi was no slouch either, with a decadent cream sauce, and nice hint of char to the lovely and light pasta pillows. Not to be beaten, the apple cobbler was absolutely amazing. Definitely sized for two, but no judgment if you solo it, every part was fall dessert perfection. Service was wonderfully knowledgeable on the food and drink side, as well as friendly and easygoing. I was getting strong owner-vibes, but I'm too lazy to do the amount of Googling required for a confirm. The Lark is getting done dirty by the algorithm on the major review sites and if they won't loudly announce their possession of the title as "best restaurant in Belleville", I sure will.

I've gone back again since my first time visiting to try a few more things. The Beef Cheek Pappardelle was my overall favourite, but the Beef short rib was a close second. It's a cute little spot in downtown Belleville with a nice ambience. There's lots of street parking available nearby or there's a big lot that's very walkable. Service was great, we even got the bartenders choice for the drinks and it was really well done. If you're ever in the Belleville area and are looking for a spot to have dinner, this is definitely the place.

It feels like a hidden locals-only joint where you can grab a glass of your fave from a thoughtfully curated list of delicious options, and settle in with your better half, besties or a group of friends and just chill. We've been to Apogee a number of times before and 'after' covid, in colder months when we've been lucky to snag a window table, and in warmer times, like tonight, when we can sit outside and enjoy the flickering fireflies along with our sparkling rosè. Besides the pleasant atmosphere, Apogee has a beautifully appointed interior space, clean bathrooms, and a menu with cheese plates, cake, and more wines than you could taste in a summer. All of that plus super knowledgable 'bar tenders' (more like wine sommeliers) who can take your possibly clumsy description of what you think you want and offer up several perfect options, and you have the makings of a very pleasant evening. Book mark this place and plan to spend at least an hour enjoying an outside table!

As a special events venue, Apogee was flexible with outside food and also with decorations. There was no additional venue rental/site fee, just a minimum spend amount (which we were confident that we would exceed). The venue is cozy and intimate, but has high ceilings so it did not feel claustrophobic at all, even with 30+ guests at one point. I'm a wine snob myself, so I was a bit skeptical initially when I saw their wine list. Most of the wines they serve retail for $10-20. They do have some bottles that are more expensive (retail ~$30). However, after tasting some of their entry level wines (Ancient Peaks Zinfandel & Gouguenheim Malbec), my worries vanished. Everything I tasted was excellent and drank better than their actual price point. Steve was a great host. He was laid back, but still friendly and attentive to all of our guests. He made sure everybody's drink needs were satisfied. He was also flexible with letting us in the venue early to set up and also staying late to clean up. I also liked the fact that they allowed us to bring our own wine, for a $15 per bottle corkage fee, which is fair. Anyways, Apogee is a great venue for a small party. They are flexible and reasonable. I would definitely recommend them as a wine bar and for hosting a private event (especially on a Sunday).

We scoped out a few places and landed here for a change from the typical pub vibe, Italian pasta joints around the corner, or chains like Jack Astor's. We beat the lunch crowd, arriving just before 2 PM. Service was great--we were seated immediately and ordered a few tapas: some roasted Brussels sprouts and a selection of meat options including Persian BBQ lamb, achiote grilled chicken, and sticky pork ribs. The chicken was my least favorite, though it wasn't bad. Everything else was absolutely delicious and flavorful. I'd really like to come back another time for proper drinks--they have an impressive wine list and a nice selection of sangrias that caught my eye. They have a private party room downstairs which is also where the restrooms are located so the restaurant isn't really accessible. They recommend 3-4 dishes per person. This can be expensive as most dishes are in the 20 dollar range. The steak with chimichurri sauce was excellent!!! But was also $44.00 for about 13 small slices. We also ordered a Thai green curry cod that comes with cashews infused in the sauce. We had a nut allergy at the table so they were able to remove the cashews to make the dish nut free.
