    - [ ] I started working with Julia in May of this year. I had been wanting to work on getting…read morephysically stronger for some time, but didn't know where to start or what to do. I have a connective tissue disorder, which historically has made it hard to stick to any workout long term without running into pain or joint issues at some point. From day one, Julia tailored my workouts to target my areas of concern and made sure we were warming up and strengthening my weakest points first. We went over each exercise as many times as I needed until I felt comfortable, and she even made me a google doc with descriptions of each exercise and a place to track my progress. Once I got the hang of my "A Day" routine, I met with Julia for more sessions, learning new techniques and improving my form. Since I prefer working out at home, Julia customized all of my workouts to work with the equipment that I have at home. She provided me the exact guidance I was looking for, and did it in such a way that I could keep revisiting her notes as often as I needed to (super helpful for those of us with ADHD brains) and she is always super responsive with texts if I have a question or need to modify something. I am beyond excited with the progress I have made in only 8 months and I am already enjoying the benefits of feeling stronger! Raking leaves, shoveling snow, and all of the things that may have caused me pain/injury in the past, I am now able to do without pain! I am so grateful for Julia helping me get those gains I didn't think were possible !

I just finished my training here. I would have kept going but my circumstances prevent it. I had…read morean absolutely great experience. They have a very good program and are genuinely interested in helping you get stronger and healthier. I worked mainly with Sheila as my trainer. I just loved her. She was so energetic and passionate even at 7:30 pm!! Even though I was her last client at the end of a long day, she treated me like her first. I have some injuries and limitations and she was really good about being mindful of that yet still pushing me. And she would even get down and do the more heinous (but good for you!) core and leg exercises right along with me! Not just demonstrating, actually doing them! So o felt very motivated and also like we were in it together. This type of training is a little on the pricier side, it's true. But the trainers are genuine and care so much about their clients and their work. You really feel that. You feel cared about. So if you really are looking for solid guidance and a program that will grow with you as you improve, I recommend this place and these trainers. I learned so much and they helped stretch me out of my comfort zone. Hopefully one day I can come back.

I live two blocks from the Y, so it's a no-brainer for me to work out here. For those folks that…read moresay that any of the other gyms in Mtown are cheaper, I'll challenge that by saying a few things. 1. I don't have to drive to the gym; saving me time and money and 2. I will actually go because it's two blocks away! I have no opportunity to avoid it! 3.They have a wonderful schedule of classes, and 4. there are ALWAYS treadmills available. ALWAYS! Never have I been to a gym where I can use a treadmill whenever I want...when typically at other gyms there is most always a wait around that golden workout hour of 5:30pm and 7am. So for those of you who still drive to the gym (yes we live in America where this is reality) and are on the free weights waiting for a treadmill...think about the Y. *I don't have kids. *I've never used the pool.

I remember waking up each morning and having to leave the room to use the bathroom early morning to try to get in there before others do. The stall doors were so short that anyone walking in could see the commode. That being said somebody would always clog the toilet and you would hear the noise knowing the water or the river was going to come downstream and you'd have to put your legs up or you would get wet. Some people would walk right in barefoot like it was a normal walk in the park nothing to see here. And then the mixed showering setup in the partying was way overboard. Many people had the jail mentality where they'd be showering and you'd come in there it's your towel and soap and they'd say oh there's more than enough room under one shower head. So some of us would go to the gym and then shower down there and frequenting many YMCA's this one is probably the most stuck up group of people that I've experienced. You're scared down there working out like everybody else on older machines by the way what business is it of theirs to ask what type of car you driving or how big is your house? Now they obviously knew that we were from the men's wing due to the residential cards that we had and free gym privileges. But some of the people that are stuck up tried to make people feel like they shouldn't be there. And people need to remember people stay at the y short-term or long-term for many different reasons from all walks of life The Good The bad and The ugly. And there might be the good in the bad in the men's wing but the only ugliness I seen was the comments from the people downstairs. If you can avoid this place like the plague. If not make sure to keep your feet up when the river comes running.
