Over the winter - my husband (and running czar) must have realized this as he purchased me a 10 class card to Newington Yoga Center, located on the "main drag" of Newington. The yoga studio has a small waiting area when students can leave their bags, shoes, etc but a fairly large practice space. I am not very well versed in the different types of yoga but all of the teachers I have encountered have been helpful, gently moving me into the correct position or allowing me to practice how I am feeling that day. I might not get all the moves correctly or be able to lift myself off the ground in the lotus position (and believe me I have tried) but it has helped me work out the kinks, stretch and lengthen and more importantly leave feeling a sense of peace and centeredness I most times did not have before class.

What I love about this studio that sets them apart from others is the variety of classes offered for all levels and types of people. Some of my favorite classes so far are: power flow yoga ( a MUST take class with instructor Bethany) , multi flow vinyasa, barre (take Kimies class!!!!), HIIT (Pattie is motivating) and low body blast. And I haven't even tried them all yet! There are a multitude of workshops that happen every month, from meditation, to restorative yoga, to yoga with your children, to focusing on healing just one part of your body. They even do ugly sweater yoga at a brewery every year! ALSO, there is a wellness studio on the second level with doctors of natural medicine, physical therapy, mental therapy. And Verbena!! A spa center where they offer massage, acupuncture, a salt room... it just keeps getting better. I haven't gotten a massage yet, but it's on my "to-do" list. I also enjoy the variety of classes. I am more of a traditional yogi, but I like that there are also Barre method, pilates, and weights classes in the schedule. I just bought a month membership, so it will definitely provide for an all-inclusive workout! The studio is immaculate and spacious. This spot is so cute and very welcoming. Although it was prenatal yoga, it was easily modifiable and i had a great session. I appreciated the matts, blocks, blankets, pillows available for use. After this session, they offered little bouquets to us it was such a nice touch (it was mother's day)! The location of this studio is perfect, you can take a walk before or after through old wethersfield. My friend and I went for brunch at heirloom market after. Hidden Gem On Main is just that... a hidden gem on Main Street in Wallingford. I've walked by the shop a few times on my way to other businesses in the facility and my curiosity finally lead me in. The Hidden Gem is a descent size shop, clean, organized, and has a lovely aroma of incense. It felt very inviting and open. They have a huge assortment of crystals, stones, and gems--small and large. There is a large display of incense too. Many other treasures can be found throughout the shop like candles, plants, and unique items from local artists and brands. I found adorable Alice in Wonderland candles that I may need to return for. Everything seemed fairly priced too. The shop's staff are beyond nice and they have readers (tarot, physic, crystal) at the shop everyday. Whether you are looking to add some enchantment to your everyday life or looking for a unique gift for a crystal loving friend, Hidden Gem On Main is the spot! The people working there are friendly, knowledgeable, and no question is too silly for them. I am not consistent with my practices, so I usually have some questions about materials and uses. The pace is well organized and not overwhelming. Sometimes these places put way too much out and it looks messy/cluttered. The store hosts events like readers, sound healers and classes.
