This place is STILL amazing! If you don't think they can top what they did at the old Bay House, well, they did. Tastefully decorated and spotless, Steve and his staff treat you like an old friend and do it effortlessly. Now, the food. Wow! We did the six course meal and my wife and I (it was our 35th Anniversary so we splurged), both gave it an easy two thumbs up. Flavor and quality was as expected and service impeccable. The one thing one must do when they come here is pay attention to the presentation of the food and especially the dessert. Check my photos out for the proof. There is no finer dining in Oregon. Period. In 2019 it sounded like they'd closed down permanently, but (happy dance!) ...they're back! Now located onsite at the Salishan Resort in Gleneden, not far from their original location (although I can't begin to say how much I miss that ladies room with the fireplace!). But what's important is that the beloved Bay House, with it's not-to-be-missed six course tasting menu and legendary table service, is once again here for us wannabe-foodies to save up for, savor, and then go home in a bona fide food coma. I hadn't eaten inside a restaurant since before the zombie apocalypse began, but fortunately the Bay House is now in a huge space with lots of room between the limited number of tables. I felt comfortable and safe, and it was truly a treat to enjoy an indoor meal that I didn't cook myself (not that I could pull off the dishes presented at the Bay House if I dared even try). The tasting menu changes over time, but generally consists of appetizer and salad courses, plus three main courses typically consisting of duck, seafood and a beef filet, a cheese plate, and a delicious dessert assortment. If you have a special occasion and plan to be in the area, just go. Really. Don't think about it any longer, just do it. There honestly isn't anyplace better. read more

From calling to make my reservation to the moment we walked out the door, Steven was a spectacular host. My partner and I were looking for a nice place to get dinner on a long weekend getaway and this place exceeded our expectations. The atmosphere is quiet and romantic. Candlelit tables and low lighting with a rose in water at each table. We chose the 6 course option with the wine pairings. The A La Carte options seemed lovely, but for about $50 more we thought the chefs menu and wine pairing was well worth it. The food was flavorful and varied; the wine paired well to sip on and complemented each course. We will absolutely be back! A note on finding The Bay House in its new location at Salishan: there are not obvious signs telling you where to go within the Salishan Resort. PLEASE EAT HERE. Disregard any weird, negative review about the restaurant and proprietor. Those people are haters and just wanted some freebee lol. We loved the responses the proprietor made toward the people who were not satisfied. My husband and I chose to dine in the lounge. It was so cozy and warm and inviting! We sat on a little couch and cuddled...sipped some well crafted cocktails and enjoyed the view of the bay. Service was wonderful- from the moment we were greeted until the moment we left. A note about the cocktails: mine was perfect. I chose "blushed" and being that I don't like drinks that are ultra sweet, the bartender made mine a little extra tart-per her recommendation. My husband loves a good old fashioned and he said his wasn't a true one...but he didn't complain and drank the whole thing. The bartender had a heavy hand so the drinks were honest and I had a true buzz halfway through my drink. Although to be honest, I am fairly small person. Now on to the food- incredible. We eat at a lot of nice restaurants and have no problem paying good money for good food. We were so please with all of the dishes we ordered. My husband and I shared everything. Pork belly with grits and maple reduction: so balanced and satisfied the savory, sweet tooth! The pork belly was cooked perfect and not too fatty. Just the right amount. Very tender. Devoured this immediately. Crab cakes: a lot of places put cheese in the crab cakes (which I don't mind because I love cheese lol) but I don't think the Bay house does. The crab was so fresh tasting and was not overpowered by the ingredients or seasoning within them. They are served with mango salsa, avocado purée, and I believe a chipotle style dip. Although all of these flavors are great, the crab cake didn't need them. It was perfect on its own....but if you so decided to use the other flavors on the plate- you should not be disappointed. Steamers with chorizo: sooooo good! Oh my gosh. The sauce the steamers were cooked with was incredible. I couldn't get enough. They were absolutely fresh and you could taste the steamers...not just what they were cooked in. Perfect, mild and incredible. The Chorizo was tasty, but I let my hubby eat most of that. The steamers came with fresh made brioche bread. It was sooo soft and fluffy. I asked for some butter and what they brought out was made in house--so, so tasty. Steve ,the own of The Bay House at Salishan, has just started a brand new experience, Wine teasing in the wine cellar underneath the restaurant. We had a wonderful time. We talked to Steve about our wine preferences and he made some recommendations of a couple of wine we might like to taste. We ordered two half bottles that we throughly enjoyed with the charcuterie board that came with the tasting experience. We had a wonderful time sitting in the wine cellar with about 11,000 bottles of Very Nice wine. We would recommend this wine experience to everyone that enjoys wine. read more

We had made a reservation ahead of time, and our maitre d' remembered that it was my partner's birthday when we came in. He went out of his way to make sure it was a special event for her. Our waiter was helpful, friendly and prompt. I appreciated working with him. We chose the Chef's menu which turned out to be an excellent decision. Our meal started out with a delicious smoked halibut appetizer. We also had courses of salmon, duck, and beef. Each of them were cooked perfectly, and their sides were mouth watering. I appreciated their large wine selection. They had quite a few varieties of my favorite Zin, Rombauer and Turley. We didn't try their cocktails, but I would assume they're just as tasty as the rest of their menu. This place is a Lincoln City gem. You won't be disappointed. read more

My husband and I dined at The Bay House during our stay at Salishan for our anniversary. Our server was mediocre at best - he never introduced himself, was not personable, and was very unclear as to how the menu vs tasting menu worked. When we asked questions, we were met with attitude, not nasty, just attitude that was not needed. The food was good. Exceptional? No. I ordered the filet medium rare. It arrived with beautiful presentation. On first cut, the steak was overdone - no pink at all. Second cut into center of steak, well done. When I told the waiter that my steak was well done, not medium rare, his reply was, and I quote, "Sorry", and walked away. Unreal for a high end restaurant known for exceptional food and service. I ate as much as I could, but did not love it. For the price, the food and experience were very disappointing. read more

Overly pretentious. They tried too hard. The dishes were mostly good but overdone, IMO, trying too hard. Too much sauce, too many unnecessary ingredients, too complex. The clams and the beef tenderloin were great. The duck, OK, the pork belly, very unremarkable, overly sweet and certainly not crispy. The beet salad, very so so. I still have no idea what the green powdery substance was next to my duck. The pumpkin risotto is one of the best risottos I've ever had. Some of the best food I have ever had. I have t had this quality of food since I worked at a high end restaurant with a French trained chef. The head chef here knows what he's doing and it's executed perfectly. What a great service and great food! We ordered three course dinner where we can pick what we want from each category. Started with fettuccine with crab and Parmesan cheese- it had a very interesting flavor and was actually refreshing! Fettuccine sauce had a zest in it which made the dish very unusual. We also ordered pork belly as a starter- excellent! It served on a spreader apple butter with lightly cooked egg, polenta and carrot cake crumbs. Interesting presentation and great flavors. For salad I had their signature salad with blueberry dressing- delicious! And my husband had beet salad. He said he liked it, I don't like beets, and didn't taste it. For the entrees we had halibut and duck. Both dishes are excellent! I love crispy skin on a fish! Duck was great too, it came with butternut squash purée, fig purée and served on a parsnip purée. Oh my this food is awesome. Everything about The Bay House was so good! From the outside, I was a little apprehensive but once we entered the restaurant is magical. Steve the owner met us at the door and took us down a wine bottle filled hallway and seated us with an ocean view. Van, our server was absolutely the best server I've been around in years. The food was incredible. I had smoked duck, my husband had beef steak and our companions had sea scallops. The wine suggestion was perfect and the starter, roasted garlic soup was creamy and delicious. The presentation was spot on.
