I finally made it in here. I came here one time to meet a group and everyone decided to change the date without telling me. Needless to say I don't hang with that crowd anymore. We got here a bit early on the weekday at 2:50p. They open at three so we waited until they opened. They had some great lunch specials. I had the turkey club with a salad. It was good. I'd never seen tomatoes on a club before but it was good. They had a variety of drinks but we stuck to tea and soda as it was a work day. This looks like a great place for cocktails. We invited my brother-in-law and his girlfriend to cocktails so we could get to know her better. Girlfriend-in-law paid the bill! suh-WEET! Even when I tried to pay the second round, she told the bartender not to accept my payment. haha Even if I had paid, I would still like this place and their cocktails. It is a nice atmosphere, not too loud, comfortable seating, warm whimsical decorations, friendly service, and clean bathrooms. They have a large list of cocktails, mocktails and other non-alcoholic beverages, as well as beer and wine. They can make all the traditional cocktails. A regular told me the manhattan is top notch, but the cherries aren't the best he's seen. Cherry seemed alright to me. They also have several house cocktails and a few specials to choose from. Between us 4, we tried several different cocktails. We even tried the house cocktail designed for the bitterest of liqueurs, Jeppson's Malört. All were deemed tasty by all! They offer several food items from a full kitchen, including appetizers, sandwiches, salads, breakfast, and dinner. They even have veggie burger, gluten free crackers, and gluten free (GF) fried chicken! ! ! Free parking on the street. The Conservatory in McMinnville is an absolute gem. The vibe had that perfect balance of relaxed, welcoming, and classy. It's the kind of place that feels just right for a date night or drinks with a friend. The cocktails were outstanding and the food was fabulous. We had a nice time at conservatory. We were there early on a Friday and it was not busy at all. We placed our order in at the bar and the two bartenders there were so polite. The poutine with brisket was delicious. The drink was a tad sour for my taste, but it was good none the less. The food was so good I think I died... and reincarnated myself in order to write this review. I'm a tough critic, and let me tell you... the Brussels spout appetizer blew me into the next dimension. We also had the pulled pork sandwich and the crispy chicken bacon sandwich. Both came with a mound of mouth watering fries. This is a place with a ton of unique character! Come in and hang out for a few drinks and bites. Worth visiting just to see the mural on the outside. Food was good! My favorite was probably the fried cauliflower. Crunchy with what seemed like a cornmeal batter! Warmed those babies up the next day in the air fryer, still tasty. Also really enjoyed the Brussels sprouts, nice balsamic glaze, cooked through but not mushy. Portobello mushroom burger had nice combo of flavors! It was hard to eat because the mushroom was cut too thick and kept sliding out of the sandwich. Ran out of bun too. Dropped a star for snobby service. I don't recall anyone smiling at us once. And we are a friendly bunch! I can charm any server! Could it be because our group was probably 30 years older than the other patrons and the staff? I hope not. You have to create your own fun at this place. Servers were rather dour and lacked enthusiasm. We sat by the kitchen and the cooks looked like they were slogging away at a mundane task. Alas, The Conservatory has fallen pray to the dreaded portion deduction syndrome. We have dinned here multiple times and we have really enjoyed ourselves. The restaurant still has a lovely vib and is open late, which in these parts is not always easy to find. However, the Smoked Salmon Salad had about half the salmon per usual (smaller plate?) and the Portabella Sandwich simply cut one mushroom in half rather than a whole one. The wines per glass, still mediocre considering where this restaurant is located, had way less of a pour than before. Rather than served in a decent sized glass the white and red wine both came in a small white wine glass. The previous pour with a larger glass made the wine as good as it could be. But now the red wine in this small white glass tasted mostly of alcohol. Just as well the portion was reduced. As a business it all comes down to money, naturally. Nothing wrong with that. The decision to reduce portions throughout was based (probably) upon the fact that the majority of customers would not notice, or those who did didn't care, and that only a few would care enough to call it out. The Conservatory certainly did not invent this trick. It's too bad to see this here as we did enjoy coming for an evening dinner. We own a commercial kitchen on our local farm. We do not cut the size of our baked good way down, nor do we sell 9 eggs to the dozen. If we must raise our prices, we will gladly inform our customers as to the reasons why. Our customers appreciate honestly. In the end, we gain more that we loose. read more

We went there on a whim. Unique bar they have all the usual drinks but they have some of the most interesting drinks that really catch your eye as they are being served. After visiting the evergreen flight museum we were looking for a close place to dine. Found the conservatory bar and decided to have lunch. I ordered the chicken salad sandwich which was good but not sensational. My husband ordered the burger and received french fries that were overdone. He requested fries again yet to only receive them exactly the same very dark brown. Loved this place so much we came twice while in town. First night just for drinks, then our last evening for food and bev. Both occasions were great. Super chill with friendly and efficient bartender. If you want things to stay chill you'll want to settle up before 9. Open daily til 11 which is late night by McMinneville standards, and things definitely cranked up a notch after nearby bars and restaurants shuttered for the night and patrons moved like moths to a flame to one of the only alternatives in town. That being said, things never got out of hand, just bustling. Creative cocktail menu. I tried a hibiscus drink that I found a little too bright for my mood, and a spicy mezcal cocktail that packed some good heat and was perfection. The food was also excellent. The portobello sandwich (with goat cheese, tomato, greens, tomato jam, and chimichurri on ciabatta) was massive and delicious. I seriously thought there were two sandwiches on my plate when it was delivered to my table. Nope, just two enormous halves. I saved one for a midnight snack. The fries were also some of the best I've had in a very long time. Freshly cut. Not overdone, and not too soggy, but just right. This would be my go-to as a local. I've gone here a couple times in the past year and it's been alright... the food is extremely bland and often soggy. The drinks are pretty good, but the bartenders are very bizarre. I don't know if it's rude, or just a general social skills issue.... Also, I find it a little ironic that Conservatory displays a LGBTQ flag on their establishment, but every time they've been asked to do a queer event, they just don't respond. If you don't know what the stereotype of yuppies and hipsters are, you'll definitely get that vibe coming here. An opinion about everything but a belief in nothing, and no action behind their words of equality. Personally, I could go on a diatribe about certain people who work here, but I'll just leave it at this - TOXIC I will say the only redeeming thing this bar has to offer is Brussel Sprouts. So order those to go if you really feel like wasting you money on a piss poor establishment. I do Not think a conservatory will be around in 5 years time, but hopefully they reconsider the way they treat people, and make changes so everyone can enjoy it. read more

I've been searching for a good burger in McMinnville after moving here five years ago, and FINALLY found the best burger in town, AND the best fries!!! Conservatory Bar serves a half pound burger, cooked any way you like (I prefer mine medium rare), along with a HUGE pile of string fries, salted to perfection. I've eaten there twice and it's the ONLY place I will go for a burger in Mac! This little bar is an eclectic place. We were visiting wineries during the day and came here for a drink before dinner. It was recommended to us as a great place to get a nice cocktail and one of the few places that stays open late in McMinnville. It does stay open late and serves food until midnight. And I'll preface this next part with we may be spoiled as we have great cocktail bars at home but the service was average to poor at best, the cocktails were not good but didn't wow you. The setting is hard to describe it. Have low expectations and you'll be fine. We ended up staying for dinner. The brisket sandwich sounded amazing based on the description on the menu but really disappointed, it had very little flavor. Pretty much just brisket on bread. Wow! What an amazing place! The food was incredible, I got the poutine with brisket. Absolutely delicious, it was covered in brisket gravy and the most tender brisket I've ever eaten. The drinks are so unique. The different flavors/herbs they mix with the drinks is something I've never experienced in a cocktail. Alright, I gave this a 2, because the staff was friendly enough etc, no issue there. Other than I think the bartender was new and didn't make the normal Mosscow Mule correctly, their Mulberry was amazing though per usual. HOWEVER if you like paying out the keester for the most bland food you've ever had (didn't even have salt and pepper shakers at the tables at the very least to have some sort of flavor) or a brisket that is soaked in whatever sugary concoction, or a Cuban sandwich that uses sweet pickles? Let's just make it all sugar on the plate right? A soaked bun that the brisket came on that falls apart as soon as you pick it up (maybe toast it?) I would have tried harder to pick it up and make it work if i didn't think I'd need an insulin shot after. A balsamic vinegertte that tastes of nothing but oil (yes i mixed it up before using) and a poutine that would make a Canadian cry, and apologize to the chef who made it. Then this is 100% the place for you. I've been here several times, what happened? The staff looked 12 years old in the kitchen, so maybe they lost their kitchen staff they had? Not sure, 100% won't be back though, its too overpriced for us blue collar people who received glares from all the hipsters. I can go so many other places in the area if I wanted to hear rich pretentious people complain about having too much money, and just not enough time to spend it, and I wouldn't go hungry and have a bill for $75 for two meals and 2 drinks. Such a great place. I loved the atmosphere, the bartender was legit, and the selection of spirits was definitely a step up from most places. My sister-in-law and I had the mulberry and it was perfect, just what we were looking for. My brother was excited about their selection of whiskeys and got a double of the four roses....but even more surprising was their food! The brisket sandwich is a must and the burger was just as good. I frankly don't have enough nice things to say about conservatory bar, from the drinks, the food, the kind humans who own it, to the amazing humans they employ. I haven't been drinking recently, but the last cocktail I had here was absolutely exquisite, and they also have some cbd and nonalcoholic options for any other non drinkers. That being said, even as someone who is not super comfy in bars currently, I feel so welcome and loved when I pop in about once a week and grab some food. Everything is so fresh, you can tell care is put into each item, and it's always so delicious. The turkey pesto sandwich, smoked salmon salad, and fried pickles are definitely not to be missed. The vibes, absolutely unmatched. From the decor, to excellent music I always have to ask about, truly kind and incredible employees who make you feel so cared for, indoor and outdoor seating, conservatory truly delivers it all, in such a magical package.
