My rating is 3.5 stars. I love the produce and Asian products. Anusha, an associate, ruined my initial experience at this grocery store. I'm rounding down. A few Saturdays ago, after dropping off a couple of items at the Markham Household Hazardous Waste Depot, I needed to get groceries. I did something different and sought out a grocery store that I had never visited. I settled for this Walmart in Richmond Hill. This Walmart is with a bunch of box stores. I used to frequent this area often years ago. I remember when this store used to be a Sam's Club. It was extremely busy in the parking lot on a Saturday afternoon. I parked a fair distance away from the main entrance. Unlike my usual Walmart in Markham in the Boxgrove area that doesn't require any coin to unlock a shopping cart, this place requires a 25-cent deposit to unlock one. I had a quarter in my wallet and put it to good use. I will say that I like the produce section a lot. It's probably because it features Al Premium products. The celery that I got was healthy and in pristine condition. The avocados looked good. Prices were decent. The fruit section was excellent. I got strawberries and cherries. I also saw dragon fruit and lychee. What ruined my experience was Anusha, an associate. I was walking next to a long fridge. It had ended, so there was a slight gap between my cart, with me behind it, and the next fridge to my right. This woman wanted to pass me on the right side between my cart and the open fridge. Really? I'm technically pushing a cart on the right. How about pass on the left like a normal human being would have done?! Anusha was rude. She had to wait in front of the fridge, with my cart and me moving forward. Just a weird move on her part. I gave her a puzzled stare. I loved the Asian section. I got gyoza that were delicious when I heated them up at home. I got black garlic ramen that I love. This place has a ton of ramen varieties that it was almost overwhelming! A good supermarket with Asian products has to have Pei Pa Koa. This store had the large bottles. Whenever I have a sore throat that leads to a horrible cough, this product is the only one that works wonders for me. I loved seeing it here. I got snacks I grabbed a bottle of peanuts. I also got a couple of boxes of Dare cookies. There was a clearance section as I headed toward the checkout. It looked so chaotic, as if a huge fan was trying to blow all products on the display shelves and it succeeded. It was so messy that I didn't even bother looking at whatever discounts were there. Also unlike my regular Walmart in Markham, this one didn't have any humans at the checkout area to help customers cash out. Rather, the self-checkout kiosks were encouraged. I had no problem scanning my items. I then paid with a credit card. I bagged everything with my reusable bags and then headed to my car to load my purchases into it. I was parked next to the shopping cart return area. I got my quarter back. I then left. I love the products here. It sadly took a Walmart associate to ruin my experience. She needs to realize that she is representing Walmart and trying to play chicken with my cart isn't cutting it. I hope that other associates working at this store aren't like her. The store carries a lot more inventory and I have more luck finding items when they are on sale at this location than at the other Walmart. It also has a huge grocery section: bakery, meat, fruits, veggies, seafood etc. I also like their self checkout though they always seemed to close half of it. Lots of parking space as the lot shares with other sotres. The lot is always half empty towards the back. The only thing I wish is that it would be close to me :)

Parking at the front of the mall is limited, usually reserved for Shoppers and Santorini patrons. Ample parking at the back. A significant face lift is needed to bring some life back to this plaza.

The tow truck driver was not white and neither were most of the mechanics who seemed afraid of Ryan. The issue was that Ryan didn't know how the truck would be able to get out of the service area. The mechanics quickly figured it out. I checked in with the tow truck guy to see if he was ok and he kindly nodded. Ryan then processed my request while trying to upsell me on a full new set of tires and while being abrupt and condescending. I waited an hour, my car seemed ready to go, Ryan was nowhere to be found, so I asked another serviceman to check me out. Please do not go here for car services especially if you are not white, a woman, or don't want to support sexist, racist, and rude servicemen. They could fire Ryan of course, but I'm unclear if the toxicity stems from further up the ladder. In the meantime, please pass this experience and do not support them until they have addressed these issues. I should note that I'm a white woman and the customers who were white/male were treated very differently than those who were/are not white and male.

The mall has quite a nice set up but definitely lack any foot traffic. The supermarket in the basement area is the busiest of them all but with underground parking attached to the supermarket most customers are not going to visit other stores/business upstairs. I feel sorry for the investors that bought the units and not able to rent it out for over 1 year. But it is just not a good location to start a business here unless you already have a good client base and they willing to visit your new location!

There is underground parking for the condos in this corner, along with World Shops and Shops on Yonge. Parking is free. I parked closer to the World Shops elevator. I took it up to the second floor and then used the skywalk to walk over to Shops on Yonge Street. Just before 5 pm on a Saturday, there was a decent amount of activity at Shops on Yonge. There was a hair salon that didn't have an empty chair. Every seated customer was getting a new 'do. I walked by Belifornia Bakery and salivated over the cake slices in the display case. I was happy to see a convenience store, too. I took the elevator up to the second floor. This place has three floors. I looked down at the P1 floor and saw a massive supermarket. I soon realized that it was Seasons Food Mart. It looked so deadly that I decided not to drop by. I knew that if I did, I'd be broke and I'd need help carrying my purchases to my car. I'm definitely returning when it's payday. The setup at Shops on Yonge is a cross between British flagship stores, such as Marks and Spencer, and shopping complexes in Shanghai, such as the Agile International Plaza. With the former, the entire grocery section is in the basement and the selection is highly impressive. With the latter, each floor has some sort of shopping theme. The first floor has the Muji flagship store. If you want food, everything is on the second floor. For fashion, check out the third floor. I passed by Tea Shop 168 to hit the food court. I saw one woman with a massive bowl of udon noodles in soup and it looked good. You can dine at the food court, with tables and chairs far apart to enforce physical distancing. I made a mental note of a Shanghai pan-fried buns place. I'll remember it because my last name is in the business's name! I picked up my food at Aburiyaki Sushi. It's a family-run business and the woman was super nice. I'm so glad that I ventured over to Shops on Yonge. There's plenty for me to discover. It's also listed as Product of Canada whereas I don't see that label at Costco. What a great buy! Now I know I don't need to reach Costco to get these staples. If you also deck out your smoothies, oatmeal, cereals, baked goods or yogurts with some hemp hearts for added protein, this is a great find. PSA: My friend recently got hacked on her Walmart account and someone made a bunch of grocery purchases for pick up in a different city. I highly recommend to not save your credit card info down at Walmart in case some hacker is able to access it. She was able to get her funds returned from her credit card company but be careful out there! We then stopped in Roots, Dollarama, and Olive Branch. There were certainly a variety of different vendors, and it was fun to learn there was now a pickleball place in the Promenade. The Promenade has a Guest Services team that staff the counter located at the Bathurst Street Main Entrance. The mall also offers free Wi-Fi, complimentary wheel chairs, access to SmarteCarte Self-Serve strollers, and family parking options at each of their main entrances with parking options for expectant mothers and parents with young children. The hours at the mall are Monday through Friday from 10 AM to 8 PM and Saturday through Sunday from 10 AM to 6 PM. I was parked closer to the elevators to World Shops and decided to check them out. Underground parking is free. I saw parking machines to pay for parking that were wrapped up. I'm assuming that either you had to pay for parking in the past or there are thoughts of making folks pay up down the road. What I love about the majority of doors at World Shops, from the three sets of doors at the underground parking to get to and from the elevators, to the washrooms, are the wave sensors. You wave your hand in front of the sensor and the door magically opens in front of you. Try that on small children who will think that you are a magician! It's perfect during a pandemic. No contact. Less risk. Sadly, you do need to press the button to get an elevator to take you to the two other floors of World Shops. There are hand sanitizer dispensers that have motion sensors if you need them. World Shops tends to have more health and financial businesses than anything else. Some health services include a medical centre, a dental clinic, an optometry office, and an endocrinology and diabetes centre. There's an RBC and a few accounting businesses. I walked by a computer store that was closed just before 5 pm. The only retail sign of life was a hair salon. A man was cleaning the glass. I did manage to pass by another shopper who was browsing, so that was nice. It was pretty quiet. I used the women's washroom. It was clean. Frankly, World Shops is impeccably clean. For most shoppers, Shops on Yonge is far more interesting, including a food court and a grocery store that occupies the entire first floor. World Shops offers more specialized services.
