Truly, really disappointed. 3-11-2026 I loved the reviews of this place, and was so excited when I…read morefound a karaoke bar to go to for my birthday. I was with a small group (3 others excluding myself) and we'd arrived early, and granted it wasn't a busy weekend night, so we didn't expect it to be lively and hype, but the service almost immediately was just so poor. I tried making friendly conversation with the bartender but he was so stand off-ish right off the bat. Condescending and rude, and we all weren't sure why, so we sat outside for the rest of the time we were there. We asked for some other recommendations on where to go and said we'd be back when karaoke started, he recommended one that was nice, but when we returned, one of our friends in the group had gotten sick (drank too much) And although I'm aware, it's not good for bars to keep sick people in their location, it can cause issues for them and lead to them losing their job if they are assumed to be over serving, but the guy we had serving us, was so blatantly rude, and was insulting my friends "inability to control her liquor and know her limit " and continued to insult her. I explained once she finished up in the bathroom we would be on our way, and that we didn't want to stay, but I didn't think he'd want her throwing up all on the main rooms floor. He then insulted all of us, and gave us "3 minutes" to leave and walked off. We returned today (3-12-2026) to pick up a wallet that was left there by my friend, and were greeted by such nice people, I believe a manager of some sorts, said he hoped to have us back soon, and I wish I would have told him about the previous nights experience. I'm not saying I think this place is bad, and I don't think people should write this place off their to-do list, just beware of this specific employee I guess. Not exactly a good reflection on the place, and I wish I had a better experience, as I leave in a few days, and feel like I wasted all of my birthday night on such a poor experience. I guess all places are due to have good and bad nights, and I guess we caught them on a bad one. I don't think I'll be returning.

My wife and I stopped by on a Saturday night and it just happened to be Karaoke night! I immediately signed up to do "Good Ole Boys Like Me" by Don Williams. Which I then nailed! I ordered shots and they were sorta more like half shots. That's the only thing keep this place from being five stars. It might have something to with the fact that they were in a dry county I dunno. If you wanna experience the local aesthetic of Jasper this is the place to do it. If you driving through stop and prepare yourself for some local culture.

If I lived in the area I would likely be calling the Happy Cajun my second home. The bar is full of locals. It was a Saturday night when we stopped in and every Saturday is karaoke night. Steve H and I quickly made friends with the guy running the karaoke - he was awesome and did a great job! I drank some gin and tonics and had a couple of shots and enjoyed the atmosphere. The shots were a little small, so not sure what was up with that. I assumed it had something to do with the dry county and how you have to have a membership to drink. This is the kind of place where people are friendly and everyone is welcome it seemed. I saw all walks of life in the bar, which is always a good thing. The bartenders were great! There were pool tables and people having a great time all around. I could tell the people singing karaoke get lots of practice and likely sing the same songs over and over, but that is another reason why this bar was so awesome. It almost felt like going back in time a bit here too. The bar is a little divey and kind of a whole in the wall place, but this all adds to the persona of the bar. If you are camping down the road at Martin Dies State Park or just need a place to get away, have a couple of drinks and meet some nice people then stop in at the Happy Cajun because this place was bad-ass and a diamond in the rough!
