I had gone 4 years without cutting my hair and I got tired of hassling with all the split ends and how tangled and snarled it had gotten. I wanted a trim to get rid of the split ends and get some hair care advice as I know that Beach House salon carries a wide variety of hair care products that are cruelty free which is very important to me. I love how you can go to their website and get to know all the stylists. I made an appointment with Kimberly because I got to see Instagram pics of some of the work that she's done and I felt that she would be a good fit for my particular hair care needs. I was so glad I picked Kimberly! She immediately made me feel at ease as I explained that I only wanted the bare minimum cut to remove my split ends. I spent a long time growing my hair and I wanted to keep it as long as possible. She started off by giving me a thorough scalp massage. It felt so good and really relaxed me. During the styling we were chatting constantly. Kimberly is very friendly and we hit it off like a couple of gal pals. I was very happy with the end result. Well not long after my Stylist Emily reached out in the kindest way to let me know she was there to correct anything I wasn't okay with. This place is so cute + the staff are all well educated and kind. I went here on a Groupon for a partial balayage and deep conditioning treatment. Easy to find, there is parking on the side of the street and a couple of spaces behind the salon itself. You walk in and the space is bright and airy. When I walked in I was immediately greeted and offered water/coffee. Tristan (my stylist) was there on time and we started talking right away about what my vision was. I showed her some pictures and she started mixing color right away. Tristan is professional, quick to the point and funny. She was incredibly thorough(told me why and what she was doing) and definitely took her time making sure everything was how I wanted. The products the salon uses are high end and most definitely worth the money. This place is worth the hype. Stylist are very nice and you get what you pay for. Today I found Tristan to be rude and unprofessional. We had a miss communication regarding an appointment. I blame her she blamed me neither is important. What is important is that she never smiled and argued with me. She watched me sit for over 10 minutes before acknowledging my presence in a rude manner. She walked through the door and within inches multiple times and didn't even say thank you as I held the door while she carried in her dog crate. A smile and a little friendliness goes a long way. I see Susan and have since her apprentice days at an old salon. I have blonde curly hair and I'm horrible at getting consistent hair cuts. She teases me a bit, checks out the damage, then gets to work fixing the problems I've caused with my neglect. Recently I let her play with color. I gave her a basic idea of what I wanted and she ran with it. She did a quick bleach wash on my hair to open the cuticle and then layered in blue and 2 purples. It looks great with my curls and I love it. The blue wasn't as dark as we wanted so she had me come back the following weekend and added 2 different blues to get it to the right color. The initial color was done 10-10-15 and the color is still so vibrant it's shocking. I love it so much that I'm going in for another hair cut next weekend to keep it looking fresh. The salon is very clean and bright. The other stylists are always so friendly and their clients seem happy to be there. read more

I worked at a salon for a few years and have observed and experienced several different hair stylists, and Christina is the BEST! Having worked as a receptionist at her previous salon - I can say that I feel awful because I would schedule her with the "difficult" hair clients. Difficult varying from complicated hair types and across-the-board personalities. I did this because I had learned and come to trust that Christina can really work ANY hair type and make the pickiest people happy. Every client would walk out with gorgeous color, shiny hair, and a smile. She is very talented and stays really educated in what's new? in the industry. She's also fast, which made her a dream to book, but is also nice for people who can't sit still too long (me!). There really isn't much I haven't seen Christina do with hair. She's the stylist that will take you to whatever extreme or non-extreme you see yourself. She really values her clients and puts a lot of herself into her work, so you can trust that she's styling you in way that not only you love, but in a way she is proud of too. I can't recommend her highly enough, especially if you feel you have challenging hair. She can handle it. The Beach House Salon is so adorable and homey (literally! it's a cute little house!). Perfect environment to chill out and get your hair done. I love picking up some tea, cozied up on a rainy day, chatting with my favorite stylist as she works me over. I've been going to this Salon since Cameron transfered there from another salon, I am in love with this place. Everyone at the salon is really friendly and knowledgeable. I've been using Cameron to cut and color my hair for years, and can't think of using anyone else. For a short period of time I moved across the country and after a couple bad hair cuts at a large high end salon, I started flying back to tacoma to get my hair cut by her. It's amazing every time I am in there. I am crazy picky with who touches my hair due to it being really thick and wavy, but I have never had a problem with Cameron's cuts or color. First the good news. The salon is convenient and reasonably priced and my hairdresser Christina is doing a wonderful job of nursing my hair back to health after a traumatic experience at another salon. Now the bad news. I feel like some of the staff could use a refresher course in basic customer service. I have never been greeted nor have I ever been acknowledged in any way when I enter the salon. It may seem a small thing, but a simple hello and a smile go a long way in creating a friendly atmosphere. It almost feels like there are two salons. In the front of the salon I am invisible and in the back Chistina gives me a warm hello. Call me old fashioned but I think the time for greeting is upon entry to an establishment. I wonder if all the clients experience this or is there some common demonator of which I am unaware or is it just me? Don't get me wrong, I am not looking for best friends at the salon. Simple courtesy will do. Suffice it to say that if and when Christina moves on from the Beach House so will my hair and my money. read more

I had the worst experience I have ever had getting my hair done here if I could give zero stars I would!!! I made an appointment with Cameron who was referred by a mutual friend and she was able to get me in a couple days after I called. When I got there she greeted me and was very pleasant, I sat down in her chair and she asked me what I wanted to have done to my hair. I told her I wanted to have a cut and color, I asked for a little to be trimmed of the ends of my hair since I am trying to grow it out and I also asked for a Balayage. She assured me that she knew how to do a Balayage and that she had many years of experience in the field, she also mentioned she specialized in color and was an instructor for Kevin Murphy (a high end hair product brand). When she started applying the color to my hair with a brush I noticed that she did not use saran wrap in between each layer as I have always had done in the past, I didn't say anything since I figured she was the expert and knew what she was doing. After she was finished coloring my hair she toned and washed it. When we got back to the chair and it was dried I noticed a few blotchy spots on the upper right side of my head and on the left side when I lifted some of my hair up. She said that it was 'normal' to have a lot of inconsistencies because it was Balayaged and not foiled. I have had my hair Balayaged several times before and my hair has never looked like this and they have never told me it is normal to have blotchy/spotty color. I asked her if she could fix it and she told me she could put more tonner on those parts and it would fix it. I agreed and let her put the tonner on and when she was done it I thought it looked better. After that she was all done and showed me my hair in the mirror, she mentioned that the lighting in there was not very good and that it would look better once I saw it in brighter lighting. Well.... That was not the case at all. When I got home I started looking at my hair in the mirror and it did not look good at all! The cut was okay, I didn't have a problem with that. The color on the other hand was horrible. There were inconsistencies in the color, some spots looked orange, some looked yellow, the top was so much lighter than the bottom, and there were a lot of streaking and spotty pieces. After noticing how horrible it was I called and made an appointment at Gene Juarez to have it corrected, they did an amazing job and were able to get it to the way I originally wanted it to look. This took 5 hours and $150 to get the botched hair color job corrected. When I contacted Cameron to ask for a refund on the color portion she said that because I did not come to her to have the color fixed and that now "her hands are tied" and she would not be refunding me my money. I do not know why she would even say that, what would give her the idea that I would EVER come back to her to touch my hair again!? I cannot believe that someone with so much experience in this industry can do such a terrible job and think it is okay to charge $140 for the worst hair color job I have ever experienced or seen for that matter. DO NOT GO HERE!!!! read more
