    a half eaten donut
    Bret I.

There are donuts, and there are donuts. There are the generic, mass produced donuts from places like Dunkin that you find in the kitchen at work and that taste meh. Then there are the donuts that are created by a local baker who gets up way too early in the morning to create perfect little circles of goodness. Reynolds is the latter. They start selling donuts at 6am and while they say they are open until 1:00, the reality is they often close much earlier when they run out. I've tried to stop by a few times when I've been out that way only to see the closed sign. Today, a Friday, I got there at 9:30. And even then they had already sold out of everything except a few dozen glazed (note that when I say "everything" I really mean they sell 4-5 types of donuts and cinnamon rolls but that they don't last long). I grabbed 3 glazed: one to eat in the car and two to take home. After my first bite, I'm not sure that "eat" describes what I did. Devour is more like it. These are good donuts. Damn good donuts. Well worth my persistence in going back. And the ones I took home tasted just as good as the one in the morning...and I managed to eat slowly this time to savor it. If you are near or in Quincy, and have a few minutes to spare on the morning, Reynolds will not disappoint.

Whenever I was sent to the Gadsden Courthouse, I used to stop by Reynolds after for a plain glazed donut. These top Krispy Kreme. They are fluffy, melt in your mouth, and have a very slight cinnamon spice to them. The storefront isn't much to look at, but if you bring a dozen back to your coworkers, they will swear up and down that these are the best glazed donuts they've had in their lives.

Worth the drive from Tallahassee. Donuts are good. Only 2 kinds but both are delicious. Ate them outside in 5 minutes

The store is under an interior redesign as of early April 2025, but don't let that deter you. The donuts and pastries are as good as they have ever been. Staff are polite, friendly and personable. They go out of their way to help fill your order and will take their time to name every donut in the display case. My personal favorites include the apple fritter, cinnamon swirl roll, glazed twist, Chocolate glazed creme filled, the peach pie and the chocolate chip cookie sandwich. If you're in a hurry, don't forget to request an order of glazed donut holes! You can tell they're made fresh daily. They taste so crisp and melt in your mouth. I do recommend going on the early side. I tend to visit on Saturdays and you can tell they've been busy because the case has few options if you go after 10:30 am. Arrive early for the best selection.

And to say that the doughnut topped with chocolate, cream and caramel were great is an understatement -- literally the best doughnut I've ever had. My husband loved the peach fritter, which came in multiple flavors.. and my children loved the strawberry sprinkled doughnuts, which were actually strawberry, not just pink frosting. Everything we had was fantastic and we can't wait to go back!!
